I am one of the odd Trekkies I suppose Star Trek TOS was never something that I set out to watch. I am not a fan of William Shatner and his constant overacting, however he is Kirk all others fail(no offense to Chris Pine). Leonard Nimoy set the standard for every actor to portray Spock or any Vulcan, although Zachary Quinto's portrayal of the half Vulcan half human was very good. I know that this is supposed to be a review of Star Trek Enterprise, so here we go.
The fact that Scott Bakula portrayed the Captain Johnathan Archer (The Original Quantum Leaper) is what led me to watch the first episode Broken Bow. Seeing the "arrogance" , an emotion, being portrayed by the actors portraying the Vulcans was my favorite part. It's a human male and perfectly normal thing to notice that T'Pol the Vulcan science officer potrayed by Jolene Blalock is gorgeous(hey all you women that are calling me a sexist my wife said it first) is my favoriteVulcanafter Spock. The actor portraying Ensign Hoshi Sato, Linda Park also gorgeous, does a great job of pulling off the frustration anyone must feel when presented with a new language. Ensign Travis Mayweather portrayed by Anthony Mongomery (from my wife's point of view he's there for the ladies to look at) is excellent as the first helmsman of the Enterprise. Lieutenant Malcolm Reed the armory officer, undoubtedly a nod back to the British sailing vessel Enterprize, is a new position however a perfect addition. Now we all know the "Miracle Worker" that was Montgomery Scott in TOS (I said I never set out to watch the original series but I am not uncivilized and I married a huge a ST geek)now we see the first Chief Engneer of the Enterprise in Lieutenant Charles "Trip" Tucker III, potrayed by Conno Trinneer once again like Scotty pulling things off in record time. It's worth the watch for the uninitiated and for the diehard fan alike. Give it a watch. Like I said EXCELLENT.
