100 Degrees Below Zero (2013)
Better than the 2.4 rating.
100 Degrees Below Zero is everything it promises to be. Its a bit camp, a bit rubbish, most most importantly, its a bit of fun.
Sure the CGI is rubbish, and some of the sets have more charisma than the cast, but thats the point of these movies.
Its nothing original, and certainly the acting is less then great, but its a formula that seems to work, and I liked it.
I think the low IMDb rating is actually a bit cruel to be honest, and although this isn't going to win any awards, its good for what it is.
I'm giving this 4/10. OK its not going to win any awards, but its worth a glance if you've got a couple hours spare.
Android Insurrection (2012)
What were they thinking?
I have struggled through this, so you don't have too.
This is a poor attempt at a Terminator Salvation knock off. Its so bad. So, so Bad.
The acting is terrible, the CGI is worse, and the story is really really really bad.
It starts so promising with an Android using a Light Sabre and then quickly goes down hill. The ending is disjointed too, and doesn't fit the rest of the movie at all. What were they thinking?
By far and away the worst movie I have seen in a while. The 1.8/10 on IMDb is being far to generous. I'd struggle to give this a 1.
Avoid this movie. Its not good.
40 Days and Nights (2012)
Hollywood knock off.
This is basically a knock off of the 2009 disaster movie "2012". Global flood.
The story for the most part is really disjointed, with scenes that feel out of place. Most of the acting is pretty decent though, with only a couple of people putting in terrible performances.
Sadly one of the worst performances comes from Monica Keena, who plays one of the main characters. She looks like a bunny caught in headlights the whole time. Her dialogue delivery is just shocking.
Speaking of dialogue, its bad. Really bad. Which is not to be unexpected, given that the writer is also responsible for "Two Headed Shark Attack".
Story is meh, the acting is decent for the most part, and the effects only let it down a couple of times.
Does it deserve to sink into the depths of 2.4/10? Maybe. I'd give this a 3/10.
You may want to avoid it, but if you like naff B movies, this is OK.
500 MPH Storm (2013)
2/10 seems fair.
Were to start with this? Well the basic storyline is the same as the 2003 movie "The Core". An experiment starts a series of storms that ultimately will result in the destruction of the Earth. Standard disaster movie stuff.
Casper Van Dien (Starship Troopers) stars in this less then brilliant disaster movie. Although you would be forgiven for not recognising him with his grey stubble and 90's inspired hair style.
I have to say that the 2.2 rating on IMDb is fair.
The acting is poor, the storyline is unoriginal and badly executed, the CGI is not up to the task, and the dialogue is very bad.
Is it worth a watch? No. I'd actually avoid this. It doesn't come close to being a good "bad" movie.
You can't even watch this ironically. Worst I've seen since Transmorphers.
American Battleship (2012)
Better then expected.
The actual storyline for American Warships was marginally better than the Hollywood equivalent, Battleships.
The acting, for the most part was terrible, but this only meant that the half decent actors looked awesome. Carl Weathers stars as a military general and puts in a decent performance, despite his only real sparring partner being less than capable.
All in all, I have seen much worse, and this didn't mess about with any of the fluff of getting to know the characters, and just got straight to blowing stuff up.
Best line from the movie comes from Mario Van Peebles character - "You're not going to sink my Battleship!" - Brilliant.
I recon a solid 5/10 movie. Not brilliant but actually not bad either.
The Big Bang Theory (2007)
Nerdy Brilliance!
I could go on and on about some of the jokes being recycled like some of the other reviews, but what's the point? Funny is funny! I've heard dozens of different comedians use the same material - told with their own twist sure - but its the same joke. More importantly - ITS STILL FUNNY!
The characters are, in my opinion, just as well rounded and likable as almost every other sitcom - obviously they aren't perfect - but then neither am I.
What more can I say? I like it. It's a tongue in cheek comedy - don't try to read to much into it and you'll laugh your ass off.
