The only thing haunting me, is the memories of this movie.
19 May 2009
Warning: Spoilers
OK, I have never given a movie a 2, but I will now. I have seen some bad movies, but have rated them higher than this. Fact is that the other movies didn't hide what they were, and you knew what you were going to see. This movie however, from the previews, made you think you were going to see a chick flick,.... a romantic comedy. Not until you are in there watching, do you have a clue that you are actually going to see a dark comedy. A dark romantic comedy..... The bad thing is, this movie didn't really do any aspect of "dark", "romantic", or "comedy" very good at all. I will admit, the idea or a romantic spoof of "A Christmas Carol" is a good idea. And it probably would have worked as a plain old romantic comedy. However what we get here is a ton of crude humor, that actually isn't funny.... just crude. We also get characters that we don't care about. And due to the way this movie was made,... we never care about. There is also no real romance here either. Granted towards the end, they try to put the romance and the sweetness back into the film. But the truth be told,... by this point we don't care. And no matter what our main character has learned by this point, we still don't like him.

I don't want to go on about this movie. If you feel that you want to see this anyways. Do yourself a favor and rent it when it comes out, at Redbox for $1.

Star Trek (2009)
10/10
Perfect Movie. Not just for Star Trek fans.
19 May 2009
Warning: Spoilers
OK, first let me admit, I am not a huge Star Trek fan. I cant stand the originals, with there over acting. And Cant stand William Shatner, the king of over acting/ bad acting. However, I did enjoy TNG quite a bit. And I also enjoyed Deep Space Nine.

First things. For the few of you out there complaining about the characters,.... get over it. These are not supposed to be the same characters!!! The original series takes place after they were all grown and middle-aged, and have already been in space for awhile. This isn't those characters. This is a bunch of teenagers/ young adults, who are just getting out of the academy. A bunch of recruits who are just going to space and being assigned their duties. And without spoiling to much........... the plot twist in this movie explains that, due to what Spock did, those characters will probably never be the same as what they were originally destined to be. The future has been rewrote, in a sense.

Now as far as the movie. It was near perfect in my opinion. It was for anyone, not just Trek fans,... as long as you like science fiction. I thought that the characters, for the most part were perfectly cast. I loved Simon Pegg as Scotty. The visuals were very nice. The story wasn't perfect, but it was good. And the acting was solid. There was some cheesy lines in the movie, but they were forgivable for the fact that most were little catch phrases that the originals used to use.

I set through this movie, and never once was bored. And never once did I think of getting up to get a drink, go to bathroom, etc. And something else that is extremely rare for me...... I plan on going back and seeing it one more time, while it is still in the theater.

Cabin Fever (2002)
3/10
Ummmmmmm, ...... More Crap
12 September 2003
Warning: Spoilers
I heard all the reviews about "Cabin Fever". I read all the reviews that praised this movie. Now I have one question......... WHY??? Here are the things good about "Cabin Fever". (1) Good General Idea (2) Good Basic Story (3) Gore/ Gross Out (4) Decent Acting

However, that was all the good stuff. Which, that disappoints me. This movie could have been so much better. Like I said earlier, this movie had a excellent idea for a movie. That idea could have been built upon to mae a excellent movie!!! Unfortunately, they didnt get the idea down on paper right. The script sucked!!! The way it was told, sucked. The way they turned the idea into a actual story.... sucked. This is probably one of the worst movies I have ever set through. There is one thing that will give me nightmares though,...... knowing I paid $7 to watch this trash. Granted, people did laugh!!! However, most laugh werent at the jokes in the movie, they were at the pure stupdity of the movie.

SMALL SPOILER!!!!!!!

I did really enjoy one scene though. ....."PANCAKES!!!!!" as a hillbilly kid jumps off the porch doing Power Ranger moves.

I laughed my butt off.

Best Movie In A Long Time!!!
1 September 2003
I didn't know what to expect when I went to see this movie. I am not a big fan of pirate movies at all, but some friends wanted to see it so I went. Best $8 I have spent on a movie in a long time. This film doesnt attempt to be a serious, straight-faced pirate movie. It is funny, lots of action, good story, and very funny. It pokes fun at itself by adding old pirate cliches in. Johnny Depp is a good pick to play an unusual, off-the-wall character. And Orlando Bloom, all though I dont think he is God's gift to actors.... like many females do, does an excellent job in "POTC". This would have to be my pick for best movie this year. And it is definately one of my all time favorites.

Chick-Flick, Yet Man Friendly!!!!
22 August 2003
Well guys, the girlfriend/wife wants you to watch another love flick with her, huh??? Yea, sounds like such fun (sigh). But relax, there might be one that both of you enjoy. And I am not talking about when you just tell her you liked it to make her happy.........and to avoid the 50 questions that would follow if you actually told the truth. The whys; whats; how comes; nag; nag; blah; blah; etc. I recently got bored one night, when I couldn't fall asleep, and decided to order "How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days" on pay-per-view. The reason I chose this paricular movie was pretty deep and complex. It was the only one getting ready to start other than "Kangaroo Jack" (worst current movie).

I have read some reviews of "How......10 Days" in which people complained that it wasnt romantic enough. And others, that it wasnt risky/daring enough. Now granted, there were a few other directions this film could have gone, and I am sure they would have worked well, but the one chosen for this movie worked great. And I feel it was refreshing to see a romantic movie that wasnt trying to pull on your heart strings the entire time, nor trying to add in a bunch of side stories for added humor. (Please forgive me, for I give very vague descriptions of movies. I try to give enough info to give my opinion, and just enough to try to help othersdecide if they want to see te movies. But I neer want to give away to much. Its best to see a movie and be surprised, rather than already knowing the script before viewng it.) "......10 Days" was a funny movie. It focused on a lady trying to play a man, in order to have a story for ladies magazine. However, little does she know it, but he is also trying to play her......so that he can be in charge of the advertising/marketing of diamonds, at his advertising company. The movie focuses on Kate Hudson's character doing anything and everything to annoy Mathew's character. Tons of small little things that tend to either scare guys off, or just frustrate them. However, Mathew's character, no matter how annoyed or just plain p***ed off he gets, refuses to end the relationship because he ants that business account mentioned earlier........which ticks her off. So the whole movie shows them both being angry with each other, but refusing to dump the other.....due to the goals they wee trying to achieve. And of course eventually, they truely do get close and care about each other. I think what I enjoyed the most about this movie was that the things Kate did to try to get Mathew to break up with her, most of which were real small things, are real things from real life. Little things that real women do, without knowing it, that bothers guys. So I saw a few things in thise movie that I had seen in real life, and it just made me laugh.

Redemption!!!
21 August 2003
I am a 23 year old guy, who grew up with the "Nightmare on Elm Street" franchise and the "Friday the 13th" franchise. Freddy and Jason were the monsters in the closet (so to speak) for my generation, growing up. These two guys were what gaves us nightmares and made us want night lights. Yet, we wanted to watch the movies for God knows what reasons. The Freddy from the first "Elm Street" movie was dark and evil. He existed for revenge, death, mutilation, and the torture of the children/teenagers. He was a monster!!! But unfortunately, as the series of movies went on......Freddy became a one-liner, comedian. It seemed as if his character had turned from scaring and killing his victims, to meerly making fun of them and playing with them a little before their deaths. And finally in "The New Nightmare" they killed the character of Freddy (In my opinion).

Likewise was the story of Jason in the "Friday the 13th" series. In which they finally not only killed but tortured his character in "Jason X".

HOWEVER, in "Freddy VS Jason", they redeemed both franchises. In my opinion, after this movie..... both characters have a good chance at having new life in possible future installments of each franchise. Jason was a complete killing machine in this movie. My only complaint is that they still left too much humor in Freddy's character. I would love to see the DARK side of Freddy again. BUT all in all, I loved this movie. I went in expecting a really crappy movie, but received a great surprise. It actually had a good story to it. They combined both characters storylines with perfection. Lots of gore and blood. And of course the acting is what should be expected from either of these franchises. In other words, I dont see any Oscars.

New Nightmare (1994)
Death Of Freddy
20 August 2003
I first watched this movie when it came ot on vhs, around the time I was 16. I hated the movie! But to be fair, I recently re-watced "A New Nightmare" at the age of 23. My opinion now.........this movie still sucks! I loved the fact that they made Freddy a darker, more evil character in this movie. In that sense, in was close to the original "Nightmare On Elm Street". (Which in my opinion was the best of the series.) In the original, Freddy was evil. His purpose was revenge, murder, and mutilation. He was a maniac, who when you saw on the screen, made your neck hair stand up and skin crawl......just by thinking of what he was going to do. Unfortunately, later in the series Freddy became a one-liner comedian. So, in a sense, "The New Nightmare" redeemed his character.

HOWEVER, the film also destroyed Freddy's character. This movie made it known that all the other movies were just that.....movies. This ruined the storyline as far as making more "Nightmare" movies. In my opinion, it would have been a great idea to turn Freddy dark again, but keep the original type of story. IN this poor excuse for a movie, however, they take away the original storyline by admitting that he was a movie creature and not from real life. Then, they tell us that the spirit of Freddy has become real all of the sudden. BUT that takes away what I loved about the originals, the fact that they were only volnurable while they were asleep. It set rules for the movies!!! But now in this story, he has no rules. There are no limitations. He is free to do whatever he wants whether people are asleep or awake. Which for me, made this a very uninteresting movie.

I would recommend watching this only if you are a true fan of the Freddy franchise. And only so you could say that you have seen them all.
