Live PD Presents PD Cam (2018)
As someone who used to be involved in both Television and PD WORK
I can tell you LIVEPD is very real in that it shows not everything in law enforcement involves running down bad guys who just robbed a bank one segment in the show might show an officer talking to a homeless individual about life in another the officers may be arresting a teenager for marijuana possession as of spring 2018 only a few jurisdictions in America allowed recreational use of marijuana.
Either way the show is very well done. I personally think it's going to end in a lawsuit because I live in one of the jurisdictions featured on the show I know the Sheriff of that jurisdiction. He's very hung-ho about the show but there's no denying it's success it's like any other phenomenon though it'll wear out its welcome and fade away, but enjoy the ride while it lasts.
Science International (1976)
This is where I first saw Joseph Campanella
No this show didn't have state of the art special effects, but int terms of teaching basic science this show did a good job. I learned a lot from it. When I was in grade school.
CHiPs: The Greatest Adventures of CHiPs (1979)
Ah, yes it's the great "CL"i PS" show
In the days of old when producers weren't so bold, and cliffhangers weren't invented shows ended their seasons with clip shows edited together with no real reason leaving viewers discontented. This episode lives up to its title, with Grossman putting together an audio tribute to Ponch and John by gathering stories as told by the other troopers in their division as they happened by showing clips from the first two seasons of the show. Keep in mind this was a somewhat common practice before the days of home video and season ending cliffhangers as was introduced in the early 1980's by the concept of, Who Shot JR in 1980 on Dallas(1978)
The Brady Bunch Movie (1995)
Very good if...
... you're familiar with the early 1990's and the non-Vietnam pre-Watergate 1970's and especially the Brady Bunch , you'll think it's a great parody of that era.
Otherwise it's hard to really get much from the movie especially the original cast cameos. I give it 8 stars based on what the movie does in making a parody of its source material.
ER: Haunted (2008)
It's like the writers were having let's see who can write the most absurd episode contest
It's already bad enough we've seen ER shootouts, plus a psychotic girl trying to kill her family, but now it's just plain bad. I guess the absurdity began with the death of Dr. Romano by crashing helicopter, but that's a moot point. A Kid getting beat to near death because his mom is "having fun with a kid in high school". Unbelieveable! I'm sure the show's creator Michael Crichton was doing the Watusi in his grave, when this episode aired.
ER: The Book of Abby (2008)
I normally hate Abby-centered episodes, but...
This was a good way to send out a tenured well-established albeit flawed character. No offense to Maura Tierney who played Abby well, but I just grew so tired of the never-ending melodrama surrounding Abby, like the story with her mother, alcoholism and severely dysfunctional family life not just with Luca, but her mother, brother, ex-husband, Chuck and Carter.
ER: Blackout (2007)
This episode really ruined ER for me
I was already tired of Abby and her depressing life so this and once Abby decided to drink herself into a blackout and drunk episode finally pushed me over the edge and I didn't watch again until the final season when Dr. Carter returns to bring things full circle. I was also angry for Luka Kovac, being taken out of the show giving the writers the chance to take the character to even lower points of melodrama
House Hunters (1999)
Very repetitive and staged
This show is great if you need a nap. It alleges to follow couples and family in the search for a new home every show sticks close to the same exact formula. At the beginning, viewers are introduced to the couple searching for the home telling the audience thei background, jobs, family size and why they're seeking a new home.
They always work with a real estate agent who shows the buyers three properties giving them the asking price of each home, which doesn't necessarily reflect the home values in the areas where the buyers are searching.
At the end of episode, the buyers are seen talking over coffee.
The dialogue is always the same at the end. The buyers start their conversation," We have a huge decision to make." The conversation progeseses to, "Which house meets our needs the best?" One of them states a problem they have with said house along with why they don't like it. Occasionally they'll bicker about the budget and the kitchen and bathroom space before making up and before saying, " I guess we need to call the realtor." Then they wrap the show with an update with the newly minted homeowners showing how much they like their new place. Sounds plausible, right?
But in reality the couples seeking the houses already live in their chosen home and show is entirely staged.
Several former producers and home buyers have corroborated this.
That said it does give viewers the Nickel version of how the home buying process works, but a reality series it isn't.
House Hunters International (2006)
It's interesting to see how different home prices are in other Co
The show follows a very strict formula, but it interesting to see how people across the world live in their homes. Several parts of the show are obviously staged right down to the final segment of every episode where the prospective buyers sit down at the end of every episode using the exact same dialogue each and every episode. The couple says something to the effect of," Well we have a huge decision to make." Then they discuss the pro's and cons of each property before settling on the property they want to buy.
It's very interesting to see the look on the faces of Americans looking for homes in Europe and discovering how the Europeans have much smaller spaces than Americans especially, when they look for a location close to the city center of the large cities like Paris or London, but it's a good show to relax with its narrator has a very smooth voice.
ER: Forgive and Forget (2004)
This one is where ER jumped the shark for me
The tank stealing ruined the show for me. I don't think I watched it consistently again until NBC began promoting the final episodes. I'm sure there are plenty of unstable people who may try to steal a tank, but they wouldn't succeed before meeting the business end of a military rifle. The whole premise was absurd.
The Big Bang Theory: The Commitment Determination (2015)
Finally...A truly great episode in season 8
I've commented here and on other online forums that TBBT has "jumped the shark" in season 8, but it turns out it was more like a slow Christmas season. It started out with a bunch of slow boring episodes one had to stretch to get even a chuckle. But the season finale with it's potential for season 9 to have a Shamy engagement along with Penny and Leonard finally tying the knot left even critics and cynics like myself waiting for season 9. I still maintain my position that from a quality standpoint the show has jumped the shark if the one LOL episode is the season finale. Plus I wonder now that Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting and Jim Parsons getting so many other projects how much longer they're willing to stay in their roles as Penny and Sheldon respectively?
The Big Bang Theory: The Leftover Thermalization (2015)
This show is losing steam.....fast!!!
I have the first seven seasons on Blu-ray. I got the set for Christmas. For the heck of it, since I wanted to see how the show developed, I watched it from the very first episode, since I don't have a lot of time to binge watch, I'm only up through season 4. I've seen enough of the episodes in syndication to know this show has jumped over Jaws. My theory is the reason CBS renewed the show through season 10 is to keep their lock on Chuck Lorre's team for new comedies.
That said, this episode was an excellent way to send out Ms. Wolowitz. The fact it took them until 18 episodes into the season to pump out a laugh-worthy episode just shows that the jump over "Jaws" has been made.
Plus, Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting and Jim Parsons are starting to spread their wings into other major projects. If they want to keep their careers on track and out of the typecast trap, they're going to leave soon.
Nightmare in Columbia County (1991)
Complete and utter garbage
As someone who grew up in South Carolina at the time of these events, this movie is crap even by TV movie standards. The attempts at Southern accents by all of the actors are beyond awful. I'm a life-long resident of the Palmetto State and this movie is the only time or place I've ever heard anyone talk like the characters in this waste of celluloid.
The producers couldn't even get their geography right. There's no such thing as Columbia County, South Carolina. I realize the need for creative license, but why not call it, "Murder in Carolina?" or anything other than what the morons called it.
I noticed many of the reviewers like this story because it was something they could relate to personally. That's one of the reasons I hate it. I spent roughly 15 years as a reporter covering this state (I was in elementary school at the time of the Bell murders). But this movie was so poorly produced, it's insulting to everyone involved. Every remaining copy should be boxed up and thrown into Lake Murray for the catfish to eat.
Animaniacs: The Presidents Song/Don't Tread on Us/The Flame Returns (1995)
Very preachy episode
I loved this show from the first time I saw it. It's like the Looney Tunes updated for the Gen. X. crowd. I was in college at the time and some friends living off campus and I used to gather around the TV when Animaniacs was on and laugh our rear ends off.
Then came this episode. I know it's meant for the kids, but I had had enough learning. I wanted something I could chill out to. Not more school. I continued to watch the show until the bitter end on the WB. I even got the entire DVD set when they were issued, but this episode is definitely the "jump the shark" moment for Animaniacs.
The little flame reeked of an old Disney Educational film. The Pinky and the Brain bit was funny. If it had found a way to perhaps satirize some of the Presidents I might have enjoyed it, instead I felt like I had been trapped in second grade for 30 minutes.
