Grey's Anatomy: Bad Blood (2013)
okay epi
One thing is the subplot with Torrez. She working on a gymnast with reconstructed hips who is entitled and bitter at the prospect at not being a number one gymnast. They make the arc about the patient sympathetic to her bitterness in a way that is first far to existentially pointed for a girl who probably skipped a lot of school to become a top gymnast. She becomes a voice box for some contrived articulation of her her own entitlement. The brat effects Torrez and 'teaches' Torrez that the future is not known or controllable. Things Torrez knows acutely already. But this is forgotten as Torrez engages in some bull empathy. Finally the wife comes and uses her own amputation as a 'game leveling' manure. Poor subplot. The young girl is hardly an inspiring or sympathetic character. What she wants. What she craves is to not be some common person. She is a bitter pill of self absorption.
Grey's Anatomy: Life During Wartime (2008)
Tiresome animal rights sub plot.
LOL. Save the animals so they can die as god intended. As bacon or food for other animals. Why do people imagine animals as humanoid? So silly. So underdeveloped. They don't understand that the little buggers are not as important as we are. Seriously. The compassion is quixotic. This type of silliness is rife in society on all sides. This silly religious and 'spiritual' claptrap. The arguments are truncated and juvenile. It must be thus because they try so hard to tug at the ignorance of emotion. Its always trite when a show tries to preach. And oh yes its preaching when you invoke 'gods creatures' lol. These creatures all belong to this loving god who made them to die and suffer and eat and be eaten and now he has made us to stop all that! ROTFLMAO Deist pining and sophist dancing. Everything dies and no amount delusional attempts to save animals from there inevitably miserable ends will stop it. There is nothing wrong with using animals and people who don't harm animals harm people all the time. Stick that in your pipe and smoke it. Welcome to death planet! Also she overstates the value of plastic corpses as well. But the authors of the show know that.
Law & Order: Dignity (2009)
Ridiculous
Silly. Facts went out the window in this one. Characters were absurd. The idea that these self absorbed people could 'know' that the baby was happier is severe and ludicrous projection. Lots of sludge here. Projection upon fetuses and infants by adult humans is simply mental confusion. Ideas about souls and the ilk are poetic at best and preposterous and dangerous at worst.
The acting is forced. As though the actors don't like being used as puppets to espouse silly absurdist religious doctrine and apologetic.
If you are prolife you'll like this one. If you have a no sky daddy its likely you will find this episode absurd.
House M.D.: Fetal Position (2007)
I certainly is a prolife subplot.
We who like House as a representative of a rational world view might find this episode a trite and transparent push for prolife values. The story arc with the fetus/baby stuff is case in point. That house finds emotional connection with the fetus and because of this calls it a baby directly mirrors an argument for the pro-life position. The rational is that people who are pro-choice just need to see a fetus to stop being pro choice. Its why pro-lifers bring full color photos and even actual fetuses in jars to show women who are going to get abortions. It is not meant to actually change house but to influence the audiences opinions. This, because it is such an iconic show, is despicable at worst and childish at best.
The UnXplained (2019)
Anti scientific trash.
Tripe for the uneducated. For those who need to feel special through ego stroking rational this is the goods. For those with two brain cells to rub together this is trash. Trash. Trash.
Hannibal (2013)
Elevates of the visual medium it employs
Besides all of the internal elements which are amazing the glory of Hannibal lays not with its Avant Guard visuals and objects themselves but with there orchestration in time. In sequence. This show is the most ingeniously paced and plotted shows when it comes to timing and time. The actors are all aware of this sense of pacing and timing and they exude performances which indicate this awareness.
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: In the Hands of the Prophets (1993)
Good but...
But there is no correlation between the situation on ds9 concerning the prophets and the wormhole aliens argument and the science vs 'religion in schools' argument in the real world. The difference is there is no god which science 'misperceives' as an alien being. There is no evidence or reason to believe in a god or any deity as an actuality beyond the imaginings of people. Science and religion aren't on a level playing field. Religion is make believe. Science is a process of verifying and understanding reality and aspects there of. Religion is invented like a child might invent a friend when they don't have one. So this episode misrepresents the dynamics of the actual argument as it stands in reality. This fact makes me give it less stars. Had they exemplified this point I would give more stars. This series is one of the best ever of it sort btw.
Manifest (2018)
Too many Christian undertones to be relevant for none believers.
Title says it all. But to elaborate. The Christian undertones stick out like a Mormon on your porch. There is little to say because of this. Art bent to religious ends is hardly worth watching for those not involved in the strange peccadillos and foibles of belief in such things.
Instinct: Finders Keepers (2019)
very poor writing.
The children are all involved in a runaway scenario and none are admonished. In fact they are given ice cream. Not even a teaching moment. and how did these super spy children make it out of the apartment and through nyc and into the burbs without being noticed by any camera or tripping the alarms? dumb. this show lost me. poor application of psychology as well. Specious reasoning. started out okay. thought it would get better but its getting worse.
Arctic (2018)
Excellently done!
This is not short attention span theatre. This movie is about what it may actually be like to be in this particular situation. It treat the subject matter accurately and honestly. Mads is a tremendous actor. People used to constant fast cuts and quippy dialogues will be disappointed. The story is virtuous. The acting is above and beyond. Very well written. Very well shot. Very well dated. Kudos to Mads for doing this film. Brave actors step out of the ho hum hollywood humdrum.
Blue Bloods: The Forgotten (2017)
good emotion faulty logic
The episode is good but the issue of kids doing drugs and the convo around the dinner table are ham handed. They summarize that education stops drug use. But the girl who dies got hooked because she was given the drugs to help with an injury. having been addicted to it by virtue of this it makes it very silly to say its all about education and Nancy Reagan's just say no campaign. Should this girl have said no to the doctors who hooked her on this drug?
