Star Trek: Picard: Watcher (2022)
Loved the cameo
Loved the Kirk Thatcher cameo. Great callback to Star Trek 4. Think that's my favourite Easter egg they've dropped into the show yet. I actually really enjoyed this episode despite what a few other reviewers have written.
Star Trek: Picard: The Star Gazer (2022)
Incredible
This is without doubt the best episode in the Star Trek franchise in 20 years, maybe more. Considering the state of Discovery, I was blown away by it. Just hope the rest of the season follows suit!
The Silent Sea (2021)
Enjoyable nonsense
As a person with a physics degree, I do enjoy sci-fi horrors but this is more fantasy than sci-fi. A few simple issues could have been fixed in regard to the story to make it at least somewhat realistic. Matter just creating itself from nothing? Really? At least have something to turn into water.
However, it was fun and well filmed.
La casa de papel (2017)
Poor dubbing
I know this is pedantic, but my biggest issue with this series is that they've dubbed over the European Spanish with US English. It'd be like dubbing a British/Irish show with Mexican dialects for a Spanish audience. Watch it in the native Castilian.
Llamageddon (2015)
A piece of art
This film is a comedy masterpiece. So funny reading all the one star reviews. Everything terrible in this movie is done brilliantly to perfection.
This Time with Alan Partridge: Episode #2.6 (2021)
Outstanding
This was the best 30 minutes of Alan Partridge since the character was conceived. Pure brilliance from the writers and Coogen's performance was superb. The whole season was excellent but this ending didn't disappoint.
The Walking Dead: Find Me (2021)
Filler
First rule of screenwriting is every scene must add to the overall story you're trying to tell. This whole episode didn't advance the story forward.
Makes the Fly episode of breaking bad seem exciting.
Seinfeld: The Marine Biologist (1994)
Brilliant
In my humble opinion, this is the funniest episode of any sitcom I've ever seen. Huge fan of the long payoff and this is the best I've ever seen it done. I still can't believe LD and JS wrote that final scene only a few hours before filming and gave Jason less than an hour to learn it.
Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn (2020)
Dreadful
I thought Suicide Squad was bad but this is even worse. One of the most dreadful films I've ever seen.
Star Trek: Discovery: That Hope Is You, Part 2 (2021)
I've seen nets with fewer holes than the plot of this season
I didn't mind this episode. Not as bad as the rating suggests but the plot holes in this season show just how poor the writing has been. Where is the vast space behind the turbo lift? The ship is supposed to be only 400m long. How did she get to the nacelles when it specifically said in an earlier episode that they are now detached? How did Osyraa take over the ship when there are command lockouts? Just poor. Hire new writers and give us a season 4 we deserve.
Star Trek: Discovery: Unification III (2020)
Ruined
Ruined a good episode because of the Tilly arc. Pathetic. Would never happen in Starfleet even if she was any good. Cringeworthy.
Lost (2004)
Better when re-watched a decade later
Just finished rewatching this show. I was an avid watcher when it aired but being able to binge it made it so much better. All the questions I thought remained unanswered after the first showing were answered. Yes there are a few plot holes but I'm actually in tears writing this after the finale.
It's not linear and it is hard to follow but once you understand the series it's 6 seasons of glorious TV that is rare to come by these days.
Star Trek: Discovery: Far from Home (2020)
Cheesy
The plot of this episode was good and the end result could have been far better. Too much of the dialogue was cheesy and a lot of the way the story played out seemed like nonsense. By comparison I thought the first episode was excellent and looked like a welcome improvement but if the rest are like this one it'll be a hugely disappointing season.
Ford v Ferrari (2019)
10/10
Brilliant film and I'm not just saying that because there was a Villa reference in there. Cinematography and direction were brilliant.
Ad Astra (2019)
Awful sound
I have no idea how this was nominated for an Oscar for best sound mixing. It's awful. I have a 1,000 watt THX sound system and all the dialogue sounds like mumbling.
Parks and Recreation: Indianapolis (2011)
Perfect
I honestly don't know how this isn't the highest rated episode of the whole show. A Swanson masterpiece.
A Parks and Recreation Special (2020)
They didn't have a lot to work with...
...but they definitely made me feel like I'd been reunited with a lost family member.
Curb Your Enthusiasm: The N Word (2007)
The most perfect episode
Everything in this is perfect. All story aspects come together and complement each other. No other words.
Star Trek: Discovery: Such Sweet Sorrow, Part 2 (2019)
Fantastic finale
I have been a Star Trek fan since I was a child. My dad used to watch the re runs if the original series on BBC 2, then the Next Generation came along and I loved it. I followed all the new series through and then, after over a decade, discovery came along.
Now I was disappointed at first. I felt it showed a complete lack of respect for what had gone before. Trying to rewrite history, but I stuck with it.
I'm so glad I did. This episode is the one that finally made me realise how great this show is. The piece de resistance was the enterprise bridge and final scene. The show has done a fantastic job of modernising a half century old legend.
I hope discovery ends up in the next gen era.
Avengers: Infinity War (2018)
A break from normal superhero movies on so many levels
To truly appreciate this movie, you need to look at it from Thanos' perspective. As messed up as his methods are, when you look at Earth from his perspective with how the fate of his planet was, you can see his point.
Look at it from his perspective as the good guy and our chosen heroes as the bad guys and it plays out as a great action film with an awesome amount of humour and action with it.
That is what made this film brilliant.
It also makes me wish that Thor and Rocket had met years ago.
