Meet the Spartans (2008)
If only 0 was a choice.
In the movie Meet the Spartans, a group of spartans go to defend their land from the Persians. Basically the plot of 300.
I'm going to be honest with everybody. I liked Date Movie, and I liked Epic movie more. I wouldn't say they're the best parodies in the world, but they're the parodies that made me laugh the most. So I kind of like Epic movie and Date movie. They definitely wouldn't make my list of top movies, but would probably be somewhere halfway between the middle and bottom.
So when I heard that Meet the Spartans was coming out made by the same people who made Epic and Date movie, I was kind of excited. I knew it wasn't going to be a good movie, but it'll make me laugh a lot. But when I saw Meet the Spartans, I was greatly, greatly, greatly, greatly disappointed. I knew it was going to be a crappy movie, but I expected to laugh during the movie. There wasn't a single moment where I actually laughed. And there was only a few times where I chuckled.
I would recommend Epic and Date movie because it can give you some cheap laughs. I wouldn't recommend Meet the Spartans to my worst enemy. The only reason why I gave it a 1 out of 10 is because there isn't a 0.
300 (2006)
Should always be on the top 250
This movie is amazing.
The Spartan and 300 Spartans go the Thermopylae to hold off Xerxes army. Based on Frank Miller's novel.
This movie has amazing fight scenes, awesome acting, and awesome special effects. I saw the trailers, and I immediately thought awesome. But I never thought it could be my favorite movie. When you see this movie, I can assure that you'll be cheering for all the battles the Spartans win, crying when Spartans die, and have your heart pumping throughout. This is one of the greatest movies ever. A must see for all movie fans.
Batman Begins (2005)
A new side of the bat.
This to me is the best batman movie up to date. It is going to leave you begging for more.
Batman Begins shows how Batman came to be, fighting the Crow, and ra's al ghul.
This takes away most of the humor, better costume, more about Batman's origins, and they take away the nibbles finally. The acting by Christian Bale is superb. Plus, the action is way better. The fighting includes Martial Arts which Batman is supposed to be an expert in. I didn't get to see this movie until it came out on DVD. How I wish I would have seen it in theaters. It's always better in the theaters. Enjoy.
Banlieue 13 (2004)
Stops too soon.
In the future, all the ghettos in Paris are walled up with very little education, lots of violence, and minimal police. District B13 is the worst out of all of them. When the government losses an experimental missle, they send a cop named Damien and a B13 citizen Leïto to try and get it back.
This movie was awesome. It had no wires and no cables. The fight scenes are exciting and very well choreographed. There's only one problem. It's too short. You get plenty of action, but it just seems too short. They should have made it two hours long. But it is definitely a movie for all action fans.
Halo 2 (2004)
The Sequel to one of the best games.
Halo 2 is one of the games that'll keep you entertained for hours and hours.
You return as the Master Chief, who now has to defend Earth from the Covenant. Soon, you come across a new Halo which the entire covenant try to claim. You also play as the elite the Arbiter. He soon must side with the Master Chief and the covenant is being split into two.
This is an awesome game. The ending was disappointing and the campaign was a little short, but the new weapons, duel wielding, and the multi-player. It's still easy to learn how to play and the action is still non-stop. Plus, with all the cut-scenes, it's like a mini movie. Lastly, the graphics are amazing. The first was cartoonish, this one is nearly real life. This is for the top 100 games for all time.
Gears of War (2006)
The best 360 game so far
Gears of War, this brings a whole new definition to shooter games. You're no longer stuck in a first person anymore. You're now playing in 3rd person.
You play Marcus Fenix (or in co-op, his buddy Dom). It's been 14 years after Emergence Day, where the Locuts from Sera (where you live) drilled through the ground and finally started to wipe out the entire human race. As a last resort, some of the remaining humans moved to a plateau where it's too hard for the locusts to drill through (for now). Now, you have to fight through the locust, try to survive and wipe out the locust.
This game is awesome. It's a harder game to learn at first, but it's worth playing. The graphics are amazing, the game play is awesome. The best part is, you don't have stupid allies that run around and get killed, they're actually smart. The AI are smart so you have to try and play smarter then them. Flanking is one of your best options. This is one of the greatest games ever played.
Halo: Combat Evolved (2001)
Halo
This is one of the best games that has ever come out, and will ever come out, the entire franchise is amazing.
You play the Master Chief, you are the last Spartan II. After being chased by a religious combination of aliens that are trying to wipe out the human race. You crash land onto a strange ring like structure in space. Now you and the rest of the humans have to fight the covenant armada and uncover the dark secret of halo.
This is one of the best games. It is easy to learn how to play, it doesn't get you bored, and the storyline is excellent. This is a must play for any video game fan. This will be one of the top 100 games for as long video games exist.
Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle (2004)
Wow
Kal Penn and John Cho team up together on a wild hilarious adventure to go out and enjoy the perfect meal at, White Castle.
I will say, I didn't expect much from this movie. I didn't know anything about it. All I know is that my brother came home and said 'hey, let's watch this.' This is now my favorite movie. It has so many funny parts, lots of jokes and it keeps you interested the entire time. This is a must see movie. However, if you're a person who's not into the stupid humor thing found in many will feral movies, then i wouldn't suggest you watch this. Even then, this is too good of a movie to pass up.
Ong-Bak (2003)
Holy Crap
No stunt doubles, no CGI effects, and no strings attached.
This is the first Thai movie I've ever seen. I mostly watch American or Chinese movies with some Indian every once in a while. But now I got to add Thai to my list.
The plot is pretty simple. A warrior named Ting (Tony Jaa) goes to Bangkok after the head of Ong Bak is stolen. He then has to fight a powerful crime-lord to get it back.
Tony Jaa is amazing. No doubt about it. He knows Muay Thai, Muay Boran, Aikido, and other martial arts. He used to be a stunt man so every stunt he does for sure is without a double.
This is also the first movie that had Muay Thai. Now, it is on my list to learn after watching this movie.
The fight scenes are amazing, it's done with none of the stuff I've listed above. Ladies and Gentlemen, say hello to the next great martial artist: Tony Jaa.
Huo Yuan Jia (2006)
Hallelujah
This is Jet Li's best film so far. This is the greatest, no 40 feet jumps, no insane special effects where they would be fighting 50 feet in the air, this is a masterpiece.
Fearless is about a real life martial artist named Huo. His father didn't want him to learn martial arts due for all the fighting that goes on between schools or get caught in personal feuds. He becomes an arrogant fighter which becomes a feud between him and a master who he kills. The masters sun then kills his family which leads him on to a journey to a little village in China where he eventually becomes enlightened and soon goes to a tournament to defend China's honor.
Fearless has extremely good music, fight scenes, and philosophy. This is a must see for martial art fans and Jet Li fans. This is a movie you'll want to watch hundreds of times over and over again.
DOA: Dead or Alive (2006)
Hot chicks
DOA: Dead or Alive is about when some of the girls from the dead or alive series (Kasumi, Christie, etc) for a tournament. They all have their personal reasons and the more the progress on the tournament, the more they find out some mysterious plot behind the head of the tournament, Donovan.
This is an alright movie. They make some of the characters like Hayabusa and Bayman seem like weaklings. All the girls except are extremely hot in this movie and they have some kind of alright fight scenes. One of the cool things about the movie is that almost all the fighters use different fighting styles. This is a movie you should see, but not in theaters.
AVP: Alien vs. Predator (2004)
Could've been better
AVP is when a company discovers a pyramid underground Antartica. They go there and find out that it's a coming of age hunt for 3 predators against a small hive of aliens.
I haven't seen any of the aliens or any of the predators. But i thought this was a pretty decent movie. There could've been more centered on the aliens and predators and have way more fight scenes. Plus, they made it more about humans then the aliens or predators. The last thing they could have really done was make it on the aliens or predators home-world and make it more like an all out war. But over all, it was a pretty decent movie. I can't wait for the sequel.
Dhoom (2004)
Surprising isn't it.
Dhoom, bolleywood's action flick. I'm more with the drama or comedy in bolleywood, mostly because I hate to see a good action film become a musical. But this action/musical is an exception.
Dhoom is about a hard-boiled cop who teams up with a cool rider from the streets to catch a thief who along with his gang to rob banks and armored trucks.
This movie has some pretty mid tier action and could probably could have more action in it. But considering bolleywood, this is impressive. One of the best parts is the two girls they chose to play were pretty decent looking and good acting actresses. Not to mention the song Dhoom Dhoom is pretty good also.
Crank (2006)
Perfect
Perfect, Perfect, Perfect. This movie is just perfect. It's lots of violence and humor all mixed in. The result, a action/comedy movie starring Jason Statham, Amy Smart, and lots of scenes to be talking about tomorrow.
Chev (Statham) is a hit-man who is poisoned with a Chinese poison which is slowly going to his heart. The only thing that is keeping him alive is adrenaline.
The movie has lots of action, lots of humor, and lots of holy cow that awesome. The action is bloody and awesome, the humor is something you'll be laughing at days or even weeks later, and the end is the extreme holy cows through out. A must see for all action fans.
Unleashed (2005)
Jet Li's best American movie so far.
After seeing Kiss of the Dragon, Jet Li has been my favorite actor. When I finally got this movie, I had high expectations and they weren't let down.
Danny (Li) was raised to attack anyone his master wants him too. When he finally escapes, he is taken in by a blind piano tuner Sam (Freeman) and he lessens from being a dog and more into being a human.
This has plenty of well choreographed fight scenes. But this is one of the movies that features more then senseless violence. The entire middle of the movie features excellent acting as Danny finds people who accepted him and looks forward into moving on. If you're a Jet Li fan, see this movie.
The Chronicles of Riddick (2004)
Go Vin Diesel
This was the movie that made Vin Diesel a favorite on my list.
This Riddick is about how Riddick has to go find Krya on a prison world while he fights off the Necromongers, a race that kills you if you don't convert to their religion.
One of the best parts of this movie is that you don't have to have seen Pitch Black. I didn't even know that there was a movie before this one. This movie still makes perfect sense. It has a good story, lots of good acting, and really cool special effects. Granted, there are some places that they could improve on like some of the dialogue because at some places, it was kind of cheesy. This movie will make Vin Diesel a favorite.
The Suite Life of Zack & Cody (2005)
A suite show
The Suite Life is about 2 twins along with their mom who works in the hotel as a singer. They live in the hotel. There, they face lots of problems like trying to make friends at their new school or when the hotel heiress that also lives in the hotel decides to make the entire hotel lobby like Feng Shui which causes some problems.
When I first saw this show, I wasn't interested in it at all. Most Disney channel shows I don't usually like. But this show was an exception.
It's funny, it actually has a pretty good plots, and has some pretty decent acting. It's not the best show in the world, but it's a pretty good one. Some stuff might be a little inappropriate for kids under 5 but if you're at least over 11, then watch this show.
Psych (2006)
Psych: A perfect mixture.
If you like comedy and mystery, then you've got to see Psych.
Psych is about a man named Shawn Spencer who's dad is an ex cop. I shows various clips in the beginning when Shawn was growing up and all the things his dad did to make him such a great detective. He and his friend Gus open up a fake Pyschic agency and helps the police department solve murders, kidnapping, etc. Of course with some funny dialog and extremely funny happenings in the show.
It's the perfect blend of of comedy and mystery, all with a fake psychic.
One of the best shows on t.v.
Kiss of the Dragon (2001)
One of the best movies he has
This was my first movie with Jet Li I saw. It is now one of my favorite movies that I own.
This movie is about a Chinese Intelligence officer (Li) who goes to France with the help from the local police to get a Chinese guy who has been smuggling drugs. The Chinese guy is killed by the corrupt french detective Richard and tries to track Li down to get the tape of the murder back.
When I was going to see this movie, I wasn't expecting much. I didn't know anything about Jet Li and I thought Jackie Chan was the greatest fighter ever. Then I saw the realistic fighting/no humor fighting which used plenty of martial art movies. It has a good plot and awesome mainly no wire fighting (except for 2 or three attacks). Tis is what made Jet Li my favorite actor and my favorite martial artist.
Fight Science (2006)
All the myths of martial arts finally put to the test.
Finally, a short science show that shows that puts the various martial arts to the test. Some of the test includes the one hit knockout, that a martial artist can hit as fast as a snake.
James Lew and a team of scientists test various masters of martial arts like Rickson Gracie for Jiu-Jitsu (UFC). Besides showing different styles of martial arts, they also show different weapons like the katana and the three section staff.
I have been a martial artist for at least three years and I found this highly accurate. It showed how ninjas have perfect balance which is reveled and how they came up with certain weapons and how you could get a knockout punch or kick. This is a must see.
