dull and dumber...
13 May 2024
Warning: Spoilers
It is when you make further equations of kong and now also godzilla et co, and some other new raising creatures, and of course the dumbest of them all part is in my opinion, in this complete fantasy world, green screen and bluescreen produced movie, the HUMANS, what a horrible script, what a horrible cast, and what a horrible work from the cast, except maybe dan stevens, its just terrifying to have to watch a grand cast doing so little in a sophisticatedly horrendously badly scripted movie, that an average grumpy old norwegian man has to pay almost 200nok to watch at the movie , getting my, from before, blasted ears reblasted by the soundlevel and effects... no no, use your sparetime in fresh air and study life around you, its better than this... let them humans out of the play at next productionpoint, they make me feel dum!!!

Warning: Spoilers
On the real facts, on how a life in the nortraship fleet were for the lowest of the laimen onboard the ships, also the fact that this was an arctic convoy, they never sailed them convois during highsummer and midnightsun, and it seems theyve forgotten how the elements of nature wore out men and ship, smooth ocean in the barentz ocean is a strike of luck, and for 12 days...no !.

I expected a lot more action from this war historical norwegian production, instead they deliver a kind of enclosed dramaturgical horror that almost anyone with a cam in a studio can make.

They have some outdoor scenes, with vfx and cgi that are mostly covered by fog in the horizon . As a historical shipping nerd, i have my doupt about the shape of the ship, 2nd ww trampers had usually its steerhouse midships, not aft as in this film.

We do also have to say that norwegian actors speaks extremely blurry and hard to hear what they say, so i say again, muster up, speak loud and clear so even a norwegian may understand your gibberish kauderwelsk.

All in all, its a dragged out movie for those who shall see and learn for the future, allthough technology are different today, its still the same humans that runs the ships. I think this was a flunk, and a mismatch of real historically registered convoyes where the horrors of war seems anasthesized and the rugging and the sound of a ship underway are missing out completely.

Im writing this review on behalf of my grandfather, that wouldve been one hundred and twentyone years today, torpedoed twice while shuffling coal into the steamboiler, survived it all, with heavy , what we call today PTSD, that came to show during his last 10 years of living with dementia, where doors left open, warmth at full steam, and panick attacks when the nurse at the nursing home left the room with the bedrails in rised position (and the nurse where actually me, the reviewer at my first assignment as a nursing student...) otherwise it would be man overboard, and crushed to the floor.

So on behalf of my forefather and miself, its not so riveting as it was in real life, just a small recommend.

Warning: Spoilers
After watching this flick , a meltdown of love between human and the wildlife wilderness of them treeless islands over there, just over the pond from my own coastal norway

i envy you a lot for having such nice surroundings, still living by the seaweed miself, being hunkered down by seagulls that took the coronapandemic to colonize my neighbouring islets, and i wish for all its worth that there had been an otter or two on my premises too...just to regulate the gulls abit.

Its a film about a ''stranded'' otter that comes in touch with a stranded human, and like a swing with a wand makes him wake up by listening to the cry for help from the wild. I dont know which nouns, adjectives or verbs to use to utter my sheer delight watching this movie, its almost like a flood of tears bursting when watching the nature unfold like theyve managed in this outlet of pictorial beauty.

So if your snot and tear switch easily toggles on , if your in love with the nature as a whole, or if youve just lost a dear pet (like ive just had) have a look at this 8th wonder of the world of wildlife, human interaction and some of the most beautiful landscapes in the world, bundled together with light ,dark and shadow, narrated in a most comfortingled way and without a nick of a brag, tuned in with a musical score that almost feels as natural as nature itself...and it all happens in natures own pace and speed...

so thank you for sharing this otterfilled story, that made a grumpy old mans heart melt away. I cannot recommend this film enough.

Warning: Spoilers
Of spygame glory, and nuclear threats, and youll get a fullfilled piece of it in these 3 first episodes of BBC' episcopal saga about the spionage, counterespionage and 5th colony business activities during the cold war, most of all during the 1980's with the senile turmoils of soviet leadership and maggie thatchers full frontal attack at the male bastions of the political world, and last but not least the cowboy with a whip of a tongue, ronald reagan, seeking peacetalks with mr nice guy mikail gorbatchev of the USSR, which in the end made the coldwar thaw into a nice breezy wind of ''freedome''.

A spythriller based on real happenings, i remember these days very well at brandenburger tor, screaming inkululeko, freiheit, freedom , frihet...so you bet im old and grumpy and a cold war survivor, and to the new generations, watch this series, its somthin real good...

Warning: Spoilers
A wild child is reasonably hard to handle, but this ranting little violent vampirella would be a handfull even for the most professionals within the childhandling trade...

its a overly detailed gadget scheme of vampireism with a whole lot of loopholes and glitches on the ''science'' of the undead with long fangs, i love the art departments work, but do not adore the editing skills of the production crew. The musical score do overaid your senses at moments and combine that with an hyperactive plot with a playtime that may feel a bit overstretched, which make you stalling due to all the rise and drops of the action, just like a rollercoaster on steroids.

Also i can manage navigating myself around liplicking actors, that gives a sense of amateurism both from cast and crew.

But if youre a vampire buff, and love dan stevens, i will not unrecommend it, its made with a donkey kong intensity if youre hungry for that, just dont show it on the screen at your family saturday pizza parade cause your ballerina kids demands (from tik-tok) to watch abigail, it aint food for minors, and wealthy on cinematic violence. Just a small recommend from an exhausted grumpy old man.

Warning: Spoilers
Strong stomach and nerves of steel to watch this spanish appraisal of the coffee table, a gadget well as important for the spaniards as the tea tray for the brits.

The keyword though is glass, a matter of substance that maybe so extremely strong , at the same time so brittle and may break with a stroke of a fingertouch if your born under a doomed star.

So if your going through a post-partum depression or do have an overly protectionistic personality, then you may wanna skip this niche product of spanish pseudo horror, its some of the most heartbreaking and deteriorating cinematic art ive seen lately. The small cast delivers so utterly spot-on, especially the facial mimics are fantastic, also the musical score composed, are some of the finest of spanish filmproductions.

A horrific story of seredipitusiousness from everyday life, that will turmoil the guts of even the squemiest of filmnerds, dont say i didnt warn you, a recommend from the grumpy old man.

Warning: Spoilers
Of the london public transport services, this is a refreshmjent outta the ordinary, more than just a glimpse on the ant hive of the tube and the overground services, following the maintenance, security and people handlers during some of the most reveberating moments that actually happens nonstop everyday in the metropolis of london.

This is a real modern and new wave mode of british soap documentarymaking, where theyve thrown, the typically old school pr-hungry ,want to have my face all the time in the tv window (bbc-)journalist telling us instead of showing us the content, in the bin . Hooray to that

im still a mighty old grumpy norwegian reviewer, that are rather helpless on the digital ticketing issues, and im sure ill be in the slam for evading the ticket fare on my next trip to london due to lack of ticketing terminals where you feeded the slot machine with the correct amount of money for an admissable fare card in a manner that neolittics like me could operate. So you bet im old, but still love the city of london and the underground.

Make a crash course episode on the ticket stuff, then ill be even more pleased. Its a total recommend to watch. Some of the best british made for years.

Warning: Spoilers
Armagheddonish, i cant find words for the authrocities that being done on that little spot on earth that they used to call palestina and judea in the past, gazastrip and israel its called today...

my heart bleeds for humankind whereever, whoever and whenever i watch documentaries like this, and im humble to those who dares to document this on film, leaping of in the dusttracks of confused and fatigued ambulance and health workers on the gaza strip...how little they have and how much they do to save lives and bits and pieces of lives thats just passed away in a blast .

Had i had a billion i shouldve bought panzered ambulances to them, cause they are the most helpless helpers within the health community, along with firefighters...you name it.

So salam and shalom to everybody that has passed, this film should scare peaceloving people, like the grumpy old man just have gone through. Have a look and believe it or not, its not a fake story.

Warning: Spoilers
A lot to me, a post boomer gen, that use all my spare time staring into the air(goat stare) instead of mulching my brain and eyes into a symbiosis with the digital world, aka youth trilling their babywagons with eyes glued to a smartphone, racing of with 5 dogs in a chain, pushing the cart with the breastbone ( i guess some of you know what i mean)

whats great about this film is the absence of the typical knowhowers, the psychologists and analysts. It made purely on the words of the babyhackers of the era of social mediaism, that eventually has grown up at least physiologically to tell why 2chan, 4chan,8chan,anonymous, qanon, maga etc etc came to exist, and came to grab the attention of the world that is presented in their world view, used by others to back another world view and so on.

So whos dr who, that fakes whoever i shall not say, but the grumpy old man got a lot more wise on ''new words'' and gen z lingo.

Therefore, i ''meme'' you to have a look at this documentary, its meant to explain the trolls that became trolls due to the trolls, and a pile lot more of that anarchyistic soup.

Big and bold documentary about the natural bodysize that humans are born and should aspire for when growing up.

Im a chubby chaser myself, and thats just the way it is, and i had no limitations when i grew up other than cde-cup, and swaying hips, so my wife has always been one of a kind...

i would really like to see an updated version on the subject mister director jeff sterne, cause its much more accepted these days to grow size without being insensible.

I had a lot of fun watching this try to make big normal and acceptible, and the grumpy old man will recommend a watch, even though its an old documentary production.

One of the most important ''whistleblower'' media outlets, that should be spread wide and far beyond the borders of the united states of america, before the presidential election 2024.

Because here we're presented with the facts what might happen if... and when..., and that is the initiation of a military battle for the right to party, in other words the outbreak of civil war in the land of the free, and that is not a joke, cause im a grumpy old norwegian sitting on the other side of the dam, shaking a fearful dance , the contrary to steve martins happy dance, thinking how can usa mend themselves into a real democracy?do they have to split up all of their stars and stripes, starve eachother out and then join hands on the top of a hill when the true fears of war have set their seeds for good and forever after?

2 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
A historical movie about the coup d'etat 12/12-79, that ended one more of the socalled ''republics'' of south korea, a film that for ordinary people shows what goes wrong when you have far too many star spangeled and salated generals, brigadeers, colonels and majors reigning over large military units on a spot of land smaller than california, and the consequence when they point their weapons at each other, cause some of them cant stand the urge of not climbing further in the ranks, other than becoming head of state...

its a well made film, aka typical south korean thrillerdrama, where there a so many actors in the lead cast making it hard to differ each actor from the others. Had to find the upper and lower rank of military insignia map on wikipedia in the end to differ whos who.

But its a film with a nerve, a bit complicated in the start if you are a virgin to s.k. Politics and armed forces and all the republics that has passed since 2nd world war (they are in the 7th now i think).

Its most of all strong performances on the acts, therefore use 2 hours of your precious life on this domestic disturbance movie from the black part of the manchuchuo-flag, the republic of south korea.

The grumpy old man recommends.

Warning: Spoilers
Piece of real life crime, that couldve easily become a 10 stars instead of 8, if they had used more bodycam, interrogative and court tv film material in the production layout, because they use a lot of dramatizing, though not with vocal acting, that usually destroys every sense of reality.

So its all over a passable rlc production to view even for the most upholstered squemish nerds.

Its a series that commits itself to the matter of shooting in selfdefence, stand your ground or hold your castle - rights of life. Where the line is drawn is for the jury to decide, so have a look and make your own judgement of each case, and what you wouldve done if flipping positions...

a recommend from the grumpy old man.

Warning: Spoilers
Couldnt have told the story better than this to a sekularian western citizen , the story told by all the kind of people that isis literally hates.

The journalists, the analysts, the military and intelligence people that has lived close up to this developing feature gives one of the best lessons in the intricate game that could be called ''powermonopoly of the middle east''.

Its made back in 2016, but its still a matter of fact that isis still exist as a powerful opponent towards the western christian/hindu/bhudist etc etc part of the world so it maybe time for an upgrading on isis 2024...

im hesitating myself watching isis documentaries, cause the danger of having to watch murder in situ on the screen are very high, and that stirs a grumpy old mans mind ( the famous and awarded photoshoot of a headshot in the vietnam war set a chronic wound on a young mans mind then) to the core, so having snuggled myself through this production, i can declare that they have edited the material with a sharp knife , that makes this a tutorial rather than a disgusting murder parade.

So if you care for a better free world to live in without religious violence and death, take a look at this documentary even though its 8 years old, it still matters.

I stepped of the train of Alex jones ''info wars''-express as fast as i had misthreaded into his sphere searching on the internet and heard his theories on 9/11 in the years afterwards, when i was looking for more stuff on this issue....

this is a very verbal and very mad mans world, where reichminister goebbels and f.s molotov and doctor ho and chairman mao would be lilliputs compared to what weapons of control his mission uses.

Ill consider these cases vs alex jones as one of the most important ones in USA in this century, but still its not enough. Howcome this madmans war against common sense ,havent turned him into a shakcled and lockedup prisoner ,for crimes on the human mind...

i shall say no more than bless you all people that have gone through the hardships of schoolshootings and senseless killings of children over the past 70 years. You lot are my inspiration , cause youre the voice of understanding and hope, in a voulcherous future to come. i shall not say whats wrong or not, but i cannot stop myself from imagining them as a kind of couple, and i think that none other than the family of the victim would feel as the purpertrated ones...

All you grumpy old men out there, a newfound wave is born, and if your gonna hang in there, youll need more than sildenafil to tighten up your skinny little thing down there below your belly button, cause this is real revenge from the senile part of the metoo revolution. Its flower power packed into an explosive orchidea of lust and blossomness , quite a good spank on catholicism and other cautionouss religions that declare eroticism and every kind of masturbationistic behaviour as the worst sin of the seven sins.

A really smooth and well acted comedy, with a bit drama in the corners, im old and grumpy and im a man with a heavily decreasing libido, allthough that, i had many good laughs for the ever so hard trying fenomenalistic female that at the end came to peace both here and there.

I cannot stop praising this movie, its tantalizing to the fingertips, and very well made. So a big recommend, and ill put this on for my wife to watch later...bravo...

Warning: Spoilers
That im hypercritical, others may say im hypocritical, what i think though hitting the nail with a hammer declearing that Dick Wolfes ''homicide:newyork'' has far too much of a'' in memorandum''-factor to it. 30 percent of each episode is reserved to positive ''obituaries'' over the victim(s). And that is overkill for real life crime nerds that demands videos from body cams, interrogation, court hearings and sentencing. There are just one episode(ive seen 5 yet) that answers the question of ''why'' the crime happened. And where are the digging journalists??

So i guess dick wolfe and his crew still struggles the demons of making non fictious tv series, even though the productions have a nice flow and keeps the use of reenactments to a minimum. It feels safetyfused and soft in fear of knocking the typical john and jean doe brittle -viewer to the floor ion shock and awe, cause theres evil out there, everywhere in fact.

Allthough writing this i must declare that it is well worth a view, it surtainly comemorates the victims and their families, and the hardworking detectives of the nypd. A 7 stars outta 10 from the grumpy old man.

the worst of...
13 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
The worst among the most cruel in the occupation of homicidality, where to live crammed into a suitcase being your last quater of mortal living, are spread out like the wings of the phoenix.

Its british made ,43 min pr episode, about british cases, using family and psych interviews, journalists, and loads of media footage.

There are only one main flaw in this production, and that is showing the live interrogation part(though british interrogation are merely a ''no comment'' fairshow) of the investigation, monsters and psychopaths should be visualized as a seed of warning. A great plus factor is the almost complete lack of reenactment in their episodes.

So its worth a watch, there are some cruel images in each episode so if your weak at heart, youre warned. A recommend from the grumpy old man.

Warning: Spoilers
Document of, and about an era of world-, and especially european -history, a story that actually has been told in many ways, mostly by the 2nd w warwinners, in the decades after 1945, the 4 and a half decades thats called the '' coldwar''.

A curruculum worthy insight you will get, and loads of us elderly will still feel the chill of the zeitgeist that ruled our safety norms back then.

Its a tv serie that i would compare as valuable to view for the young generations as the thames production ''the 2nd world war'' were for me 48 years ago. It should stand out as a fear of war poster cause the horrors of combat warfare and war mongering tends to be forgotten for every 2.5 generation growing up, and the rise of new world emperors slingng their swords to raise nationalism to a surtain breakingpoint against socalled foes may fool the weak, poor and brainwashed digitized developed population and religious fundamentalists into something worse than armagheddon.

To the history nerds that collects film and media material from this era, there arent much new stock footage and film , bare over with that cause its very well knit together. So spend some time on this netflix series is the grumpy old mans advice. Its a valuable reminder of how it was, and may become to an already brittle gen z and x, IF...

That im a grumpy old man, and without any knowledge of wwasp, or troubled teens programs in the usa other than from feature comedy films, my initial thought was that this was a weeping girl revenge documentary, so im sorry , i was wrong (im norwegian, an overcontrolled socalled benign to children country for real)

its a flat out disturbing discovery documentary about greed, child abuse and parental neglect at a sky high level, and they are even being robbed financially for their efforts to make a responsibel adult out of my troubled child...

its ''1984'' in its true sense of being, controlling ,surveilling and punishing kids that wont apply to their homestead rules, and this documentary should be curriculized as a must watch in every federal, state or private building/home in the united states... them kids doesnt even have a qualified degree from their efforts, where are FEMA for disaster control and repatrinative payouts, for lost control of mind and sole...?

A great documentary made, over a hush hush topic, because its so embarrasing for the parents being duped into pure swindle. Make more about the subject, and dont burn them files, those should be kept under the seal of law for everybody to dig in for your future generations...

Call for harry hoover to come and vacuum every nook and cranny of your cerebral cortex, cerebellum and all other significant areas placed superior to your neck, to make room for one of the most complex conspiracy investigations ive ever bumped into on the tv-market.

Its a story about political and military corruption, drug cartells and money launderers, and most of all about investigative journalism, and the dangers of being too curious and noseymouse vs.the ruling tigers of the world.

Netflix, chris hanson and zachary the producer and director of this 4 part min have left their safe harbours forever to share this story with us. And a way over the top thank you to the caselano family for sharing their memories of danny, the prime nosehound that started this whole project as a book project...to all of you take care and have your eyes in the neck open, cause ''they'' watch tv too...

Warning: Spoilers
Try to put true crime tv series into league system, but ''crime nation '' seems to me to become one of the top three in the uppermost premier league of such shows.

Its unusual with episodes lasting over 80 minutes, but they really filled it to the rim with exciting stuff, almost like a thriller movie at each episode, with just a minimum use of dramatization.

So if your a sleuth or a true crime nerd, this is like x-files, x-mas and 4th of july come together, cause such deepdives into criminal acts are barely seen anywhere else in the tv market.

The analytical mind behind this series are just hitting the bullseye for what it is worth, the grumpy old man cant wait for the rest to come...bravo.

Warning: Spoilers
Of 2 lives lost and hundreds more shattered from the pain and anguish that joran van der sloot instigated upon them, by first killing nathalie holloway, then some years later letting his psychopathic talents strangling the lights of life of stephany flores of lima peru, a life that obviously could have been saved if aruban authorities and the dutch criminal justice system had done their job, by letting him go, free as the bird to further develope his psychopathic talents of extortion and multi-pathical lies and life, for one simple reason, his greed for money and mortal gambling habbits...

there are series made , of great contents, made about nathalie holloway, her life and dissapearance story, have a look as these as well, and lets yourself into the sense of anger and avenging feelings that i felt when viewing these productions. Its a good thing that the '' aruban eel'',van der sloot is in jail, and i think he should never see the light of freedom ever again...

to the holloway family, i will say that you should be proud of yourself in your fight for justice for nathalie, after 20 years of still searching ill bend in the dust in respect for your stamina to keep your daughters memory alive.

So as a true life crime documentary production this gives the viewer a good overview of the cases, within a 90 minutes timeframe, therefore a thumbs up from the grumpy old man.

Warning: Spoilers
When offering a 3 star outta 10 for this cataclysmic story of events that scientifically are theorymaking at its most extreme, and has barely ever been seen/felt by modern day man, earth may be unpredictable but not as much as proclaimed in this story...

which also desimates itself by the choice of cast with michael pare and erica duke in the mains, doesnt give you the creeps. Its a film that depends highly and mostly on great special effects making, with loads of cgi and vfx handwork, along truthfull and reliable props and location design, and a powerfull musical score line, and here the hellbenders have missed utterly and completly.

So lets all wait till the next adressed earthquake blockbuster is on the ramp, this was really an annoying movie, at least for the grumpy old man.
