Telugu Movies I enjoyed

I have watched other movies. Before you tell me that Bommarillu and Anukokunda Oka Roju aren't on this list, let me say, I've seen them. They weren't to my taste, which is what this list is about.

My first Chiranjeevi, and while I thought the romantic song and dance numbers were dreadful, I thoroughly enjoyed the plot and the devotional song and dance.

Director: A. Kodandarami Reddy | Stars: Chiranjeevi, Vijayshanti, Vanisri, Raogopalrao

This is a Chiranjeevi movie, with him in his standard role, man of steel who can take any punishment and deal out massive punishment to miscreants. His strength is as the strength of any number of opponents because his heart is pure. In this movie the fighting is mostly weaponless and I don't think he actually kills anyone, though he pitches some bad guys over a cliff to the base of a waterfall. He is noble pure and deeply traditionally sexist (and very sexy--just ask him). Telugu masala, complete with bizarre clothing, bizarre fighting and very strange picturizations. And a lot of fun IMHO.

OK, you have to know that I really enjoy unusual devotional movies. This one features an appearance by Hanuman as a human, and then sort of possession by Hanuman of one of his devotees. I won't tell you it's great cinema, but it was fun for me.

9. Magadheera (2009)

Not Rated | 147 min | Action, Drama, Fantasy

An movie spanning 400 years via reincarnation, thus allowing hero and heroine to do epic things with arrows, swords and horses, and also with helicopters and motorcycles. Why should people be limited to one time-frame per movie. Fun, not deep.
