Awesome Martial Arts Movies!

by prestondS | created - 21 Oct 2011 | updated - 26 Sep 2012 | Public

From the old-school to the new, from highflying wire-fu to realistic brutal fight choreography, this list has it all. But there is so many more movies I haven't seen yet so please let me know if I'm missing something and I'll add it to the list. If you've seen any of these movies you are indeed hardcore. Majority of movie goers don't even know these movies exist, they would rather pay to see Karate Kid starring Jaden Smith instead LOL!

In terms of action there has been way better movies with the venoms crew then this film. But it was the characters they played which made them memorable for the US audiences. This is a kind of a who done it mystery type movie. The fights are still worth watching and you won't have any kung fu movie cred if you haven't seen this film! LOL Highlight-opening training sequence/end finale

Votes: 3,002

AKA Return of the 5 deadly venoms! Obviously not a sequel but as far as entertainment goes this blows the 1st one away! The storyline is over the top but we have better fights, training sequences, ect. My only beef is with the end fight vs. Chen Kuan Tai was a little slow for some reason. Other than that highly recomended! Highlight-The Venoms!

50. The Kid with the Golden Arm (1979)

Director: Isaac Florentine | Stars: Michael Jai White, Scott Adkins, Ben Cross, Eli Danker

Votes: 39,244

Ive always been a fan of Michael Jai White and he is great in this movie, but Ive got to admit that Mr. Scott Adkins stole this film. The Russian Character he plays is so memorable that the sequel stars only him! This is one of the best straight to video movies Ive seen in years! Good story and performances but with fight scenes that rival big budget hollywood movies! Highly recomended! Highlight-Michael vs. Scott of course

Director: Isaac Florentine | Stars: Scott Adkins, Mykel Shannon Jenkins, Mark Ivanir, Hristo Shopov

Votes: 44,589

Scott Adkins is back as Yuri Boyka. The story from the 1st movie was better but this movie is about one thing, fighting! And with Scott at the helm the fights rival the previous film! This is one of those rare movies that concentrates on the previous film villian's road to redeem himself. You never see movies like this. The only negative is his prison friend Turbo who is pretty useless in this movie due to him being only a boxer that wins his fights with a peek a boo, hide and go seek style LOL! Other than that a must see move. Highlight-Only the most complete fighter in the world of course! LOL

54. Ninja Assassin (2009)

This movie had everything going against it. CGI blood, Hollywood trying to make a ninja movie, unoriginal plot, average actors, filmed in really dark places that makes it hard to see action etc! But if you turn your brain off and have low expectations you will like this movie! Surprisingly good action, and even though it's got CG blood Id rather have that then this movie be a watered down PG-13 film. I appreciated the violence in this movie, plus you get a Sho Kosugi bonus. Ninjasploitation lovers rejoice! LOL Highlight-end finale

Votes: 3,185

Maybe the last great Chang Cheh action film! Nothing new here but whoa those fights! You can even compare this movie to a video game-they fight the lower ninjas, then mini bosses, then the main boss! LOL. Still this is a must have for martial art fans old and new. The different type of ninjas are entertaining as well. Highlight-Good guy still fighting Ninjas while his intestines are hanging out of him. LOL.

AKA King Boxer is the 1st kung fu movie to be shown in the U.S.! The fights are really average nothing to boast about, but it's just an entertaining movie to watch. It's classic old-school with an interesting story. Some decent violence is also present as well. One of Quentin Tarantino's favorite movies. It's also very rare to see Lo-Lieh playing a hero. Highlight-The glowing red hands music theme which was featured in Kill Bill LOL!

The 1st movie was very Iconic and I could see why it was a huge hit back then. But this one for me was so much more entertaining action wise! Way better sword figting sequences, fun display of different weapons, fun movie.
