Watching a teenaged girl wake up each day to live life on repeat, with slight changes in each repetition. It goes on for 5 or 6 times....waking up in bed, sitting in the car with her clique of 3 friends, in class being given a rose on valentines day, in the canteen while the weird girl walks pass, going to the party when a fight broke up between them and the weird girl.......driving back and having an accident/or the weird girl being knocked down/or trying to save her while finally dying herself. Despite the repetition, it is still quite enjoyable/bearable to watch and ponder. A film about reliving each day and trying to do it "better" - does it all matter or will different decisions change the outcome in the end?

2. This Beautiful Fantastic (2016)

PG | 92 min | Comedy, Drama, Romance

51 Metascore

A young woman who dreams of becoming a children's book author makes an unlikely friendship with a cantankerous, rich old widower.

Director: Simon Aboud | Stars: Jessica Brown Findlay, Andrew Scott, Jeremy Irvine, Tom Wilkinson

Votes: 13,236 | Gross: $0.04M

This reminds me of Amelia, the French movie and Sara trying to teach me about different plants. A girl who is beautifully different, awkward and obsessive compulsive forms a unlikely friendship with the seemingly hostile next door neighbour who teaches her about gardening and becomes her family, being there when she was heartbroken to when it all worked out with the guy (who goes to the library that she works at daily and shows her his mechanical firebird and she was inspired to write a children's book) in the end and the neighbour dies. The scene where the "family" shared an evening dinner under the star lights and they danced was lovely.

3. The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (2011)

PG-13 | 124 min | Comedy, Drama, Romance

62 Metascore

British retirees travel to India to take up residence in what they believe is a newly restored hotel. Less luxurious than advertised, the Marigold Hotel nevertheless slowly begins to charm in unexpected ways.

Director: John Madden | Stars: Judi Dench, Bill Nighy, Maggie Smith, Tom Wilkinson

Votes: 99,523 | Gross: $46.41M

A movie about how 6 retired British oldies went to stay in a hotel in India and how various relationships formed and ended between them. One married couple (the husband is always out exploring India and the wife took every opportunity to complain), a gay man finally got the courage to come and meet his adolescent close friend (who he thought will hate him - ended up that he is already married and his wife knew and he doesn't hate him) - the man died shortly after the meeting, another woman whose husband passed away and she came here, found a job and adapted, a grouchy lady in a wheelchair who was the one who saved the hotel in the end. I think this movie is about making the best of whatever life presents, and in the case...the best of the twilight years, it is never too late. It was so-so.

4. The Danish Girl (2015)

5. Forgetting Sarah Marshall (2008)

67 Metascore

Director: Nicholas Stoller | Stars: Kristen Bell, Jason Segel, Paul Rudd, Mila Kunis

Votes: 302,629 | Gross: $63.17M

A guy breaks up with his girlfriend Sara Marshall and goes to an Hawaii resort to spend a few days, and his ex and her new guy (Russell Brand) also happens to be there. Russell basically played himself - a British musician who loves sleeping around. The guy has two nice dates with the receptionist there, and it was clear that things aint working out between the ex and her new guy, so she tried to get back with him only for him not to get it up for her because she broke his heart, for him to confess to the receptionist and of course she asked him to leave. Then in the end, she showed up for his premiere of the puppet musical - Dracula and happily ever after. I am not sure why this film is well reviewed as a good comedy, it is quite boring and pointless to me.
