Low budget Oz flick. Lot's of fun and some cool twists. Not a bad way to kick off this horror-movie marathon.

Director: Tony Randel | Stars: Doug Bradley, Ashley Laurence, Clare Higgins, Kenneth Cranham

Votes: 56,171 | Gross: $11.09M

A rewatch, and still a lot of fun. Pitting the Cenobites against a new foe makes for a very gory almost-but-not-quite action flick. Still a fav of mine.

3. The Others (2001)

PG-13 | 104 min | Horror, Mystery, Thriller

Director: Scott Derrickson | Stars: Craig Sheffer, Nicholas Turturro, James Remar, Doug Bradley

Votes: 19,187

Finally got down to check this one out. Not bad at all. Still want to check out Bloodline though.

5. Cannibal Ferox (1981)

Director: Umberto Lenzi | Stars: Giovanni Lombardo Radice, Lorraine De Selle, Danilo Mattei, Zora Kerova

Votes: 10,801

It was nice of the production to thank the people of Leticia (Colombian Amazon) and Avianca Airlines. Not so nice was the butchering of live animals just for a flick, even for grindhouse cinema. Anyways, cool little flick and even gets some extra credit for being filmed in the homeland. Might have to rewatch Cannibal Holocaust to see how it stacks up against this one.

6. The Battery (2012)

The personalities of two former baseball players clash as they traverse the rural back roads of a post-plague New England teeming with the undead.

Director: Jeremy Gardner | Stars: Jeremy Gardner, Adam Cronheim, Niels Bolle, Alana O'Brien

Damn good zed movie. Also, one that finally addresses the "I know she's trying to eat me but still... that zombie's got some tig ol' bitties" concern.

7. Land of the Dead (2005)

Director: Kevin Yagher | Stars: Bruce Ramsay, Valentina Vargas, Doug Bradley, Charlotte Chatton

Votes: 24,604 | Gross: $16.68M

Appreciated what they tried to do here, but now that I think of it, this came out the same time everyone else and their petrified mama was doing "insert 80's monster/slasher franchise here" into space. Still worht a watch for Hellraiser fans.

9. The Last Exorcism Part II (2013)

PG-13 | 88 min | Horror, Thriller

35 Metascore

As Nell Sweetzer tries to build a new life after the events of the first movie, the evil force that once possessed her returns with an even more horrific plan.

Director: Ed Gass-Donnelly | Stars: Ashley Bell, Julia Garner, Spencer Treat Clark, David Jensen

Loved the first one and would have to agree we did not need a sequel. At least not this sequel.

Oh hell yeah. Third time and it still works. Eve more fun because I got to watch it with my two girls this time. They loved it. Scared the crap out of them but they loved it.

12. Shrunken Heads (1994)

Director: Richard Elfman | Stars: Julius Harris, Meg Foster, Aeryk Egan, Rebecca Herbst

Votes: 1,596

Oh man. It was original, I'll give it that. Not sure if watching the Elvira RIFF version helped me get through it though.

Not bad. Was expecting more with the ice cream truck finally.

16. Room 237 (I) (2012)

80 Metascore

An exploration of various interpretations of Stanley Kubrick's horror film, The Shining (1980).

Director: Rodney Ascher | Stars: Bill Blakemore, Geoffrey Cocks, Juli Kearns, John Fell Ryan

Votes: 23,119 | Gross: $0.26M

Blah blah blah. Seriously though, it has it's moments. The Calumet baking powder reference was great and the Apollo 11 theory was mind blowingly awesome.

After her mother's mysterious death, Nica begins to suspect that the talking, red-haired doll her visiting niece has been playing with may be the key to recent bloodshed and chaos.

The Chuck made it back and kicked some ass. Very good sequel. Totally made the good guy doll creepy again. I watched this one with my kids. Big fans of the original.

18. Maggie (I) (2015)

PG-13 | 95 min | Drama, Horror, Sci-Fi

Director: Henry Hobson | Stars: Arnold Schwarzenegger, Abigail Breslin, Joely Richardson, Laura Cayouette

Votes: 46,734 | Gross: $0.19M

Great but untraditional zombie movie. Bleak AF! Arnold and Abi gave two solid performances. This is the other side of the zombie infected coin. Generally we just get to see the zombie horde run down with giving a crap but here the movie captures that time just before the turn, where one of your most beloved dies and reanimates into a shambling atrocity where the only thing on it's decaying mind is to feast on your flesh. Also watched this one with my girls. Yes, there were tears.

19. Grizzly (1976)

PG | 91 min | Adventure, Horror, Thriller

25 Metascore

An eighteen-foot-tall grizzly bear terrorizes a state park, leaving it up to a Park Ranger to save the day.

Director: William Girdler | Stars: Christopher George, Andrew Prine, Richard Jaeckel, Joan McCall

Hasn't aged all that well. The Neal Adams poster is timeless though.

Director: Jeff Baena | Stars: Aubrey Plaza, Dane DeHaan, John C. Reilly, Molly Shannon

Votes: 23,851 | Gross: $0.08M

Another slightly unbalanced RomZomCom. Aubrey Plaza does a great job though in her role as the girl who didn't stay dead. Worth checking out.

Votes: 31,416 | Gross: $0.05M

Great flick, great actors and one great concept. The romance angle was believable. Didn't hurt any that it took place in such a beautiful location.

23. The Pit and the Pendulum (1991)

R | 97 min | Horror, Romance

Horror film set in 1492 Toledo, Spain, depicting the cruel deeds of a monk named Torquemada, Grand Inquisitor of the Spanish Inquisition.

Director: Stuart Gordon | Stars: Lance Henriksen, Stephen Lee, William Norris, Mark Margolis

Votes: 5,455 | Gross: $0.00M

Been a long time since I caught this classic on VHS after renting it from the Video Nook, and it still kicks ass. It has all you are looking for in an old school horror movie based on one of Poe's best short stories. Of course they were a bit loose with the adaptation but it's all good. Gruesome torture scenes, some unintentional humor, Lance Henriksen having a blast as the Nutty Inquisitor, a hot chic lead and hungry rats o'plenty.

24. Demons (1985)

Not Rated | 88 min | Horror

53 Metascore

A group of random people are invited to a screening of a mysterious movie, only to find themselves trapped in the theater with ravenous demons.

Director: Lamberto Bava | Stars: Urbano Barberini, Natasha Hovey, Karl Zinny, Fiore Argento

Votes: 26,585

Still kicks ass. After rewatching this month I see what REC, another flick that also teases end of the world catastrophy through demon possessed zombies, could have been outside the apartment building but never delivered. Apparently Demons never followed through either because after watching Demons 2 they go back to square one. Anyways, great movie, great demon transformations, god awful acting in most cases but it works. It will always be a favorite, thanks to an old buddy of mine, I.C., who introduced me to this gem.

25. Outpost: Rise of the Spetsnaz (2013)

Not Rated | 87 min | Action, Horror, Sci-Fi

In this third installment of the hit Nazi Zombie action horror movie, Outpost: Rise Of The Spetnaz, we discover the horrifying origins of these supernatural soldiers and see them in ... See full summary »

Director: Kieran Parker | Stars: Bryan Larkin, Iván Kamarás, Velibor Topic, Laurentiu Possa

Votes: 2,492

Holy crap, way better than I expected. The prequel route totally worked for this story, introducing all the shenanigans the crazy nazi scientists were up to in the zombie lab. Action was great. Good times. Also, I think Spetsnaz is one the coolest words ever created.

26. Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth (1992)

R | 97 min | Horror

50 Metascore

An investigative reporter must send the newly unbound Pinhead and his legions back to Hell.

Director: Anthony Hickox | Stars: Terry Farrell, Doug Bradley, Kevin Bernhardt, Lawrence Mortorff

Better than what I remembered. Still can't compare to 1 and my all time favorite 2.

27. Hayride (2012)

Not Rated | 93 min | Crime, Drama, Horror

A college student returning home for Halloween is forced to face his childhood fears when an escaped killer takes refuge in his family's "Haunted Hayride".

Director: Terron R. Parsons | Stars: Richard Tyson, Sherri Eakin, Jeremy Ivy, Jeremy Sande

Votes: 827

I dug the whole rural haunted hayride vibe, being that I currently live out in the sticks, it's a great tradition and just messing with that by throwing in a killer was a great idea. Very low budget but still manages to pull it off. Mostly. Hopeful that the sequel is a bit more polished.

28. Children of the Corn II: The Final Sacrifice (1992)

R | 92 min | Horror, Thriller

18 Metascore

A journalist and his son travel to Nebraska to investigate the mysterious town of Gatlin where, unbeknownst to them, a murderous cult of children are still waiting in the corn fields.

Director: David Price | Stars: Terence Knox, Paul Scherrer, Ryan Bollman, Christie Clark

Votes: 9,533 | Gross: $6.98M

Oh man what a stinker. So bad it's good to watch for a few laughs. Most of the laughs came by way of the children always villageofthedamning it at every turn. C'mon kids, spread out a bit. I can totally see where TreeHouse of Horror got most of its inspiration for the horro movies that featured killer kids. Oddly recommended.

29. Halloween (2007)

R | 109 min | Horror

47 Metascore

After being committed for 15 years, Michael Myers, now a grown man and still very dangerous, escapes from the mental institution and immediately returns to Haddonfield to find his baby sister, Laurie.

Director: Rob Zombie | Stars: Scout Taylor-Compton, Malcolm McDowell, Tyler Mane, Brad Dourif

Votes: 130,626 | Gross: $58.27M

Still a bit clunky in parts but I ended up enjoying it more this time around. Zombie's part 2, though definitely is slick as *beep* and is one of my favs.

30. Phantasm (1979)

R | 89 min | Horror, Sci-Fi

72 Metascore

A teenage boy and his friends face off against a mysterious grave robber, known only as the Tall Man, who employs a lethal arsenal of unearthly weapons.

Director: Don Coscarelli | Stars: A. Michael Baldwin, Bill Thornbury, Reggie Bannister, Kathy Lester

Votes: 41,290 | Gross: $11.99M

After my 3rd viewing and while it's not perfect it's original enough to be a fav. The sequel though kicks ass. Wan't to add it to this Halloween marathon too.

31. The Omen (1976)

R | 111 min | Horror, Mystery

62 Metascore

Mysterious deaths surround an American ambassador. Could the child that he is raising actually be the Antichrist? The Devil's own son?

Director: Richard Donner | Stars: Gregory Peck, Lee Remick, Harvey Stephens, David Warner

Votes: 132,706 | Gross: $4.27M

After all these years and it's still a classic. Watching it with my kids was a plus. I remember the idea of an anti-christ being scarier in the 80's because of the threat of WWIII looming over us constantly.

32. From Dusk Till Dawn (1996)

R | 108 min | Action, Crime, Horror

48 Metascore

Two criminals and their hostages unknowingly seek temporary refuge in a truck stop populated by vampires, with chaotic results.

Director: Robert Rodriguez | Stars: Harvey Keitel, George Clooney, Juliette Lewis, Quentin Tarantino

Votes: 340,844 | Gross: $25.75M

Still a lot of fun. This one hits all the right notes.

33. The Houses October Built (2014)

Not Rated | 91 min | Horror, Thriller

Five friends are stalked by a group of mysterious and disturbed individuals while on a road trip looking for the ultimate haunted house attraction.

Director: Bobby Roe | Stars: Brandy Schaefer, Zack Andrews, Bobby Roe, Mikey Roe

Votes: 10,576

Very original concept and great to watch during the pumpkin season. Not perfect but still manages a few unsettling scenes. Porcelain girl and the Bloody Bunny were creepy AF!

34. New Nightmare (1994)

R | 112 min | Fantasy, Horror, Mystery

64 Metascore

A demonic force has chosen Freddy Krueger as its portal to the real world. Can Heather Langenkamp play the part of Nancy one last time and trap the evil trying to enter our world?

Director: Wes Craven | Stars: Heather Langenkamp, Robert Englund, Jf Davis, Miko Hughes

Votes: 64,233 | Gross: $18.09M

Uuuf, I had heard good things about this but man. It kinda sucked.

35. The Return of the Living Dead (1985)

R | 91 min | Comedy, Horror, Sci-Fi

66 Metascore

When two bumbling employees at a medical supply warehouse accidentally release a deadly gas into the air, the vapors cause the dead to rise again as zombies.

Director: Dan O'Bannon | Stars: Clu Gulager, James Karen, Don Calfa, Thom Mathews

Votes: 68,954 | Gross: $14.24M

One of my all time favs. This movie had always creeped the hell out of me as a kid, not really finding the great humor until much later. I mean, it seriously made an impression on me and my love/hate relationship with zombies.

36. City of the Living Dead (1980)

Not Rated | 93 min | Horror

A reporter and a psychic race to close the Gates of Hell after the suicide of a clergyman caused them to open, allowing the dead to rise from their graves.

Director: Lucio Fulci | Stars: Christopher George, Catriona MacColl, Carlo De Mejo, Antonella Interlenghi

Votes: 19,371

Creepy Fulci zombies. Kinda non-sensical but still fun.
