A fierce feud has erupted between several Og cast members from The Challenge: All Stars 4.
During recent episodes of the spinoff show, viewers watched as various individuals negotiated deals and alliances to ensure their survival in the game.
Former The Real World: Miami star Flora Alekseyeva was one of the individuals who called out a castmate during the recent Episode 6.
During the scenes, she pointed out that it made her “sick” how castmate Cara Maria Sorbello controlled their castmates during the elimination voting.
However, it appears Flora also has issues with castmate Tina Barta, as she recently posted several messages aimed at the former Road Rules star.
One of those messages accused her castmate of “embarrassing” and “inappropriate” behavior or remarks during the show.

With All Stars 4, Cara Maria Sorbello is officially competing on a season of The Challenge after a hiatus of several years.
Viewers last saw her as a mercenary on MTV’s Battle For a New Champion, where she appeared in one episode for an elimination against Season 39’s Michele Fitzgerald.
Cara also appeared as a mercenary for the two-part reunion special, but with All Stars 4, she’s competing to win a spin-off version of the show.
However, Cara and her fans have seen it hasn’t been easy, as she’s struggled to find many allies in the game.
She’s survived through an elimination and navigated the complexities of former friendships to remain in the game.
Cara’s boyfriend, Paulie Calafiore, recently defended her against some remarks about her made on the show.

Josh O’Connor stars a grief-stricken graverobber in Alice Rohrwacher’s gorgeous new film. Here’s our La Chimera review.
Italian director Alice Rohrwacher is a master of combining almost supernatural elements with the mundane. Her 2018 feature Happy As Lazzarro was an ambitious, spellbinding exploration of friendships and modern life. Rohrwacher’s latest film, La Chimera, once again combines magical realism and the humdrum with thrilling, if sometimes inaccessible results.
The film opens with a woman, as dreamt by Josh O’Connor’s grumbly archaeologist-turned-grave robber Arthur. Arthur is a man of few words, mourning the loss of his beloved Beniamina (Yile Vianello). We’re not privy to what exactly happened to Beniamina, but we’re acutely aware of Arthur’s bereavement.
Arthur has a bizarre talent of being able to locate buried treasure. He and his friends then sell the artefacts and reap short-lived benefits. One day, Arthur meets Italia...

It’s quite a struggle to figure out what’s going on in La Chimera. That’s not a criticism, by the way. In fact, I thought it mirrored exactly how Arthur, the de facto lead of the film, and his colleagues keep digging hard to find treasure, which is quite amazing. Not much happens in Alice Rohrwacher’s latest film, at least story-wise. It’s mostly Arthur wandering around with his dowsing stick, trying to locate buried treasure, and people around him having conversations mainly about how their lives would change if they managed to get instantly wealthy. But underneath the surface of that, La Chimera is a mood piece that is filled with a lot of melancholy and maybe a hint of magic. If you’re familiar with Rohrwacher’s style of filmmaking, which often has an aloofness, lacks a certain kind of structure, and doesn’t quite follow a particular narrative style,...

In Alice Rohrwacher’s Felliniesque tragicomic adventure tale LA Chimera, an English archaeologist-turned-tomb raider named Arthur (Josh O’Connor) leads a merry band of grave robbers who plunder ancient Etruscan tombs, eking out a meager living selling the stolen artifacts to collectors. Arthur is a haunted man, mourning his lost love, and caught up in recurring memories of their last moments together.
The tomb-raiding gives LA Chimera a bit of an Indiana Jones vibe, but while Arthur appears to be a trained archaeologist, he is not working for university nor is he a professor. Instead, he is what archaeologists call a “pot-hunter” plundering archaeological sites for grave goods he can sell for profit. And this grave-robbing is by no means lucrative, as he lives in a shack he built from cast off items, in the shadow of an aqueduct,...

“Monterossi: Season 2” finds Monterossi (Fabrizio Bentivoglio) still stuck with his producing role on the sleazy talk show he created, “Crazy Love”, that he’s been regretting since it started sliding into lowbrow exploitation. Flora (Carla Signoris), the domineering host, continues to push for the most lurid guests and topics, much to his chagrin. It’s akin to the havoc Dr. Frankenstein unleashed despite his laudable reanimation intentions. Monterossi had hoped for an “Oprah”, only to see his project devolve into a “Jerry Springer”.
The first season was six 45-minute episodes split evenly over two separate mysteries. This one covers one set of crimes in five.

Chicago – One of the heralded auteur filmmakers of the recent decade is Alice Rohrwacher. The Italian director joins her cinema forebears like Pier Paolo Pasolini and Federico Fellini, both of which she’s been favorable compared to, in creating unique and personal stories that resonant beyond their narrative. Her latest, opening at Chicago’s Music Box Theatre on April 5th, is “La Chimera.”
Rating: 5.0/5.0
Based on her memories as a child of Italy, the term “La Chimera” represents a pursuit that individuals have in the back of their minds and their lives that they somehow find elusive. Rohrwacher puts this in the context of a petty thief and English-speaking expatriate named Arthur (Josh O’Connor), out of jail but reverting back to his skill as a tomb raider for ancient Estrucian artifacts … in the 1980s this was a mania in Italy. His gang is looking for a quick score, but he...

Legend has it that if you were to stroll around Riparbella, a small Italian village in the rural part of Tuscany, you would come across a number of tombs. Some were hidden, some were open, and many of these underground burial sites were more than 2000 years old, filled with ancient artifacts. For centuries, they were left undisturbed, as a sign of respect for the dead. Then, in the early 1980s, grave robbers known as tombaroli would ransack these sacred spaces and sell the stolen goods on the black market, which...

La chimera.Around 1655, a group of rural laborers were excavating a field in Norfolk, England, when they dug up a collection of ancient urns, small clay vessels filled with ashes, bones, and various grave goods: combs, tweezers, brass plates, and a blue opal, possibly once set into a ring. More than a thousand years before, this field had served as a cemetery, and if not for an agricultural accident, it would have remained unknown. The find so impressed the scholar, doctor, and writer Sir Thomas Browne that he began his 1658 Urne-Buriall with the following: “Nature hath furnished one part of the Earth, and man another. The treasures of time lie high, in Urnes, Coynes, and Monuments, scarce below the roots of some vegetables.” He marveled at the survival of these fragile vessels, which, though “in a yard underground, and thin walls of clay, [have] out-worn all the strong and specious buildings above it,...

Josh O’Connor plays a troubled archaeologist obsessed with his dead girlfriend in “La Chimera,” the adventurous and ruggedly beautiful new Italian film from Alice Rohrwacher finally out this Friday from Neon.
In the haunted and haunting 2023 Cannes premiere, O’Connor’s mopey, recently-freed-from-jail Arthur joins with a band of tombaroli, or gravediggers, to excavate ancient treasures that may include an Etruscan statue that Arthur feels homages his former partner. The statue is too beautiful for human eyes, as Arthur says. In ancient times, the Etruscan civilization built elaborate underground tombs not to please human eyes but those of the spirit world. A similar spirit of feeling unbound from the pressures of the present-day animates Italian filmmaker Alice Rohrwacher’s La Chimera, a 1980s-set adventure following a roving group of tomb raiders who attempt to excavate and pillage these secret sanctuaries. The director has always depicted time as layered rather than strictly linear. The present exists not ahead the past but on top of it, and the moments she depicts will one day be history for another era. This vision lends the sensation that she, like the ancient culture she depicts, is communicating with something beyond our perception.
Rohrwacher finds a perfect partner in her search for the sublime with Josh O’Connor. The English actor provides a human incarnation of the director’s restless attempt to collapse the contradictions of time.

Isabella Rossellini transitioned from her modeling career to an acting career through David Lynch’s 1986 film, Blue Velvet. Rossellini was praised for her role and the film achieved a cult status in the following years, but Blue Velvet was a controversial film at the time of its release. Criticism is nothing new to Christopher Nolan. The acclaimed director has endured criticism from some critics who have labeled his films as “cold” or lacking in emotional depth. However, the 53-year-old London-born director, who has received Oscar nominations for Best Original Screenplay for both Inception & Memento (co-written with his brother), earned some scorn for his 2014 epic sci-fi flick Interstellar.
In response to criticism that his work is too cerebral and emotionally detached, Nolan seemed to make a bold move with the casting choices he made for Interstellar. In what way?
The narrative of the movie originated from a “very personal place”. He and his brother, Jonathan Nolan, wrote the screenplay together. The former explained why the original Interstellar script by his brother called for Murph to be a boy, but the Dunkirk director chose to make her a girl instead.

If you want to tell a story about expats in Hong Kong or anywhere else, one of the problems you’ll run into is that they necessarily have enough wealth to insulate their lives from a lot of the forces that loom over the locals — like politics and time. The three protagonists of “Expats” are all varying degrees of privileged and enmeshed in varying levels of grief that make them, as we all are, both victims of and perpetrators to the people around them. Director Lulu Wang, though, finds a wonderful cinematic answer to the question of how to connect the Prime Video series’ expatriates to the world around them, even if they can’t quite see it.

It was never Suzy Bemba’s plan to become a professional actress. This year’s European Shooting Star from France had dabbled in performance — “10 years of ballet, maybe six years of singing classes,” she recalls. After a knee injury made it impossible to keep dancing, she switched to acting as “a new way of expression” and started trying out for open auditions, driving with her mother the two and half hours into Paris from their home in the French countryside. Her mother sent out inquiries to French talent agencies, and one agreed to sign Bemba after she graduated high school.
But when Bemba graduated, acting was the last thing on her mind. “I wanted to go to med school, that was always the dream, so when I graduated, that’s what I did,” she says. “I kind of forgot about the idea of acting.”
It was only after her freshman...

Early in Handling the Undead, an adolescent girl, Flora (Inesa Dauksta), plays a video game where shooting zombies is your ticket to staying alive. Rendered in crude 3D, these shambling, emaciated, flesh-hungry zombies are the familiar sort that have haunted the pop-cultural imagination, and this depiction stands in seeming contrast to the people who came back from the dead after a mysterious event in Thea Hvistendahl’s film. They don’t do much of anything except breath and stare from behind glassy eyes at a world we’re never really sure if they can comprehend. But while they’re shells of who they once were, silent and often immobile, they recall enough of where they came from to reach out to the people who grieve them.
Based on the novel by John Ajvide Lindqvist, who co-wrote the screenplay with Hvistendahl, the film moves between three non-intersecting subplots. In one, we...

Perhaps the best way to describe the Norwegian zombie movie, Handling the Undead (Handtering av Udode), is as a mournful reflection on grief, on the struggle of the bereaved to let go of their departed loved ones. Based on the book by Swedish author John Ajvide Lindqvist, whose debut novel, Let the Right One In, became one of the best vampire movies of the 21st century — yielding a solid enough American remake, a so-so Showtime series and an innovative British stage adaptation — Thea Hvistendahl’s debut feature is a slow-burn experience that demands patience.
The degree to which that patience is rewarded will depend on the viewer’s willingness to get lost in the mood of pervasive anxiety and sorrow in a movie whose elegant restraint make it more psychological study than horror. That applies even once the rotting flesh-eaters have been revealed. One selling point of the multistrand drama...

In the realm of zombie-themed films, a genre often fliled with clichés and predictable plot lines, Handling the Undead aims to stand out as something different.
Directed by Thea Hvistendahl, and written by Hvistendahl and John Ajvide Lindqvist, the film stars Renate Reinsve, Anders Danielsen Lie, Bjørn Sundquist, Bente Børsum, Bahar Pars, Inesa Dauksta, Olga Damani, and Kian Hansen.
The story takes a subtle approach, diverging from the expected scenes of chaos and horror, while focusing on three families set against a backdrop of an apocalyptic event. The narrative is an exploration of human response to the unimaginable.
Handling the Undead opens with the camera hovering over a large apartment complex in the middle of a hot Oslo summer. Was 2023 a good year for movies? The end of each moviegoing year always raises that age-old question and, as always, the ultimate answer remains squarely in the eye of the beholder. For most, that tends to come down to the most populist theatrical offerings. If the latest superhero sequels and nostalgic remakes and most highly-anticipated blockbusters failed to live up to their crowd-pleasing billing, well, at least there's always next year. But for those of us who spend entirely too much time and effort on the hunt for hidden gems beneath the surface, international cinema from the most exciting talent around the globe, and overlooked indies that didn't have millions of marketing dollars to throw around, that turns out to be the wrong question to ask in the first place.
What we should be talking about is whether we've caught up on all the undeniably great movies readily available to us,...

The ominous task that faced Eve Hewson when she first read John Carney’s script for Flora and Son had been accepted before she even realized it.
Sure, she knew Carney’s work, almost exclusively delivering features that baked music into the very fabric of their construction. She’d seen Glen Hansard belting at the top of his lungs in Carney’s debut, Once; Keira Knightley and Mark Ruffalo making sweet music together in Begin Again; Ferdia Walsh-Peelo embracing ’80s pop in Sing Street. She knew what was coming, but still hoped it never would.
She fell madly in love with Flora, a single mum living in a Dublin apartment block with her delinquent teenage son Max, turning each page as Flora salvaged a guitar from a skip, had it tidied up, and gifted it to Max. She followed along as the character started taking guitar lessons by Zoom with...

While you can always rely on Hallmark and other channels to provide a frankly overwhelming number of new Christmas movies each year, the streaming services have all been slower to crank out their own Yuletide romcoms and North Pole-centric misadventures. This year there are a solid half-dozen options among four streamers, starring plenty of familiar faces going through the usual holiday hijinks in suburbia: Christmas cards, delayed toy delivery, body swaps. If you’ve seen it before, you can expect it again with pretty paper and a bow!

Peacock’s movie Genie delivered a solid opening for Peacock during Thanksgiving week — big enough, in fact, to rank as the streamer’s biggest original film to date.
The holiday comedy starring Melissa McCarthy and Paapa Essiedu premiered Nov. 22 on Peacock and drew about 405 million minutes of viewing time over its first five days, according to Nielsen figures (the full streaming top 10 charts for Thanksgiving week will be available later in December). It’s set to rank seventh among movies for that week, which typically sees a number of holiday favorites (a la Home Alone and Elf) re-enter the streaming charts.
The 405 million minutes of watch time for Genie is the equivalent of about 4.35 million complete showings of the 93-minute film (which is the now-codified standard for a “view” of a streaming movie or series).
Genie stars McCarthy as Flora, a genie who’s been trapped for more than 2,000 years inside an antique jewelry box.

I had to remind myself to act. It was the great learning experience for me. She is brilliant."'Genie' is a remake of Richard's 1991 TV...

After earworm-filled musical dramas “Once,” “Begin Again” and “Sing Street,” “Flora and Son” marks a notable first for writer-director John Carney: it’s the first time he wrote a song for a film that’s designed to underwhelm. “I always thought, what would it be like if you started a song and you just didn’t get the response that you’re supposed to get in a musical?” Carney says about the central song in the AppleTV+ feature starring Eve Hewson and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
“Flora and Son” tells the story of Dublin-based Flora (Hewson), a young single mom who is struggling with her life and especially her teenage son, Max (Orén Kinlan). She digs a guitar out of the trash, but Max is not interested — he only wants to make music using Garage Band and his laptop. Richard Curtis said he made sure to run his Tom Cruise joke in the new holiday fairytale comedy Genie by the action star.
In the film, Melissa McCarthy’s character genie Flora develops a major crush on Cruise after going to a movie theater for the first time and seeing him in a Mission: Impossible film. This leads her to cover her bedroom walls with posters of the actor, as well as get a sweatshirt featuring Cruise’s face as a Christmas present from her new friend Bernard (Paapa Essiedu).
In an interview with People magazine, published online Wednesday, the Love Actually writer said they definitely had to ask Cruise for permission before filming.
“I mean, we asked him through his people,” Curtis explained. “I’m lucky enough to know Tom a bit. He’s always been very sweet to me. And we worked on a film for a while,...

In Black Mirror season 6, episode 5, titled Demon 79, Paapa Essiedu played a demonic agent from hell summoned by a South Asian woman who had to make three sacrifices to free the demon. Now, in Peacock’s comedy film Genie, he is playing the central protagonist, Bernard Bottle, who accidentally summons a genie. Now he has to make three wishes, which will be able to bring his life back on track. Genie is a feel-good comedy film with a narrative as pleasant and cute as Melissa McCarthy. The narrative follows Bernard, an exploited employee working a taxing job who is unable to give some quality time to his family. This leads his wife to decide to take a break from her husband. However, one day a frustrated Bernard rubs an old jewelry box, and an ancient genie (played by Melissa McCarthy) emerges from it. Now, Bernard would have to make three wishes...

Genies, at least in pop culture, have long been comic foils. Way back in 1940, in “The Thief of Bagdad,” Rex Ingram played Djinn, the movie’s larger-than-life genie — 100 feet tall in his ponytail and red diaper — as a sly, laughing soul man of lighthearted effrontery. You have to really watch your language when hanging out with a genie. Especially a genie who can grant unlimited wishes. After all, it’s too easy to utter the words “I wish” when you don’t really mean them, and the result could be that you accidentally send someone directly to Hell. So please, please, be careful what you say.
If that warning seems a bit fanciful, then you haven’t seen the new holiday-themed Christmas movie premiering on Peacock. Genie features so many jokes revolving around characters carelessly uttering “I wish” only to have to quickly reverse themselves that the film seems more like a public service announcement than a would-be holiday classic.
Written by Richard Curtis (Four Weddings and a Funeral, Notting Hill), the streaming film is a loose remake of Bernard and the Genie, a 1991 BBC television movie that he also scripted. You can’t blame...
