Quentin Tarantino has created some of the most memorable cinematic moments and characters since the 90s when he made his directorial debut film, Reservoir Dogs. The film that solidified his career in Hollywood as a maverick in directing was also funded with the support of royalty checks he received by performing as an Elvis Presley impersonator on The Golden Girls in 1988.
Besides acting and directing, some refer to him as a triple threat as he is also a talented screenwriter. He has not only written his own films but also scripts for True Romance, Natural Born Killers and From Dusk Till Dawn.

Edgar Wright was, by his own account, "21 years old, living in North London, broke and on the dole – that's British for 'welfare'" in 1995 when he was struck by what he can only compare to a near-religious vision. The filmmaker was in the process of editing his first movie, a low-budget Spaghetti western homage, but the future director of Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz had nothing lined up and no sense of what he really wanted to do with his life. And then he put on "Bellbottoms," the first...

I’ve been saying this for over 20 years but I still think my favorite rap album of all-time is Same as it Ever Was by House of Pain. It’s almost as if after the first album Everlast said, “you know what? Jump Around was cute but it’s time to sound about as hard as any rapper has ever sounded.” Sure the album had their hit which was “On Point” but even that song was “weak” compared to the rest of the tracks. I personally think there are two songs that define that album. The first wasn’t as commercial a hit

Pulling out all the stops! Shaquille O’Neal challenged Jimmy Fallon to a Lip Sync Battle on The Tonight Show on Monday night in Orlando, Florida.
After Fallon rocked out to House of Pain’s “Jump Around,” Shaq moved the microphone off the stage, declaring, “I’m not gonna need this.”
Watch: Jimmy Fallon's Interview With J.J. Abrams Goes Horribly, Hilariously Wrong -- Watch!
He then broke into his rendition of Bobby Brown’s “My Prerogative.” He first brought a female audience member onto the stage, dancing up on her as Fallon laughed in the background.
Shaq was then joined by singer Pitbull and together they swiveled their hips and jammed out to the ‘80s classic.
“That’s not fair!” Fallon shouted. “Pitbull in the house.”
To try to salvage his own performance, Fallon did an epic costume change to sing the John Legend and Ariana Grande cover of “Beauty and the Beast.”

Shaquille O'Neal and Jimmy Fallon went head-to-head in a lip-sync battle on Monday night's The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
Fallon kicked things off with House of Pain's "Jump Around," but O'Neal proved to be stiff competition when he topped the host's performance with his own rendition of Bobby Brown's "My Prerogative."
"I'm bringing 1988 back," the NBA star joked as he ditched the standing mic for a mic headset and invited audience members up to the stage to dance with him. Musical guest Pitbull made a surprise appearance during O'Neal's set.
The two competitors made nice toward the end of the battle, as O'Neal forced Fallon to join him for a duet of Elton John and Kiki Dee's "Don't Go Breaking My Heart." O'Neal, mouthing Dee's lines, got affectionate with the host,...

Who's ready for a battle between a late-night great and a basketball legend? As The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon began a special week of shows live from the Universal Orlando Resort, guest Shaquille O'Neal decided to take part in one of the show's favorite segments. It's time for Lip Sync Battle with Jimmy Fallon. "Since we both have Irish last names, my first song is a classic by House of Pain," the late-night host shared as he helped kick things off. "It's called 'Jump Around.'" Sure, that's great and all but Shaq wants to take us back to 1988 with "My Prerogative" by Bobby Brown. As the former Los Angeles Lakers player showed off...

The other day I went to a high school basketball game here on Long Island. I distinctly remember not the quality of the game (which was horrible), but I was listening very closely to the warm up music they were playing pregame and at halftime. It was rap. And it wasn’t 90s rap that got you pumped up like anything from House of Pain, Wutang Clan or a zillion others. It was slow moving, mostly vocal and I just couldn’t even fathom how an athlete could get jacked up listening to this stuff. I have no problem with rap and

Danny O’Connor loved the film from the age of 12 and made pilgrimages to the house where it was filmed. Now he’s bought it to turn it into a museum
As a New Yorker based in California, Danny O’Connor wouldn’t seem to have much affinity with a movie set in a mid-sized city in the Us heartland.
But O’Connor, later a member of House of Pain, says his life was changed aged 12 by The Outsiders. Based on the 1967 book by Se Hinton, which she wrote in high school, and which has been studied by generations of American schoolchildren, The Outsiders is about two rival high school gangs divided by class. Directed by Francis Ford Coppola, most of its cast – Rob Lowe, Emilio Estevez, Matt Dillon, Tom Cruise and Patrick Swayze – went on to be superstars, while the film was instantly acclaimed as an icon of drop-dead cool.

Bridget Jones’s Baby, the third movie in the series based on Helen Fielding’s comic novels, is the kind of sequel that wants to get a laugh by firing up a song cue before the credits even roll. The song in question is “All By Myself,” used in the first Bridget Jones film, but Baby has plenty of others to choose from. Sure enough, it switches to a different kind of gag tune shortly after a few bars, having Bridget (Renée Zellweger) jump around her apartment to the strains of, yes, “Jump Around” by House Of Pain.
Relying heavily on soundtrack cuts chosen almost exclusively from wedding-reception songs and easy-listening hits is a Bridget Jones series signature, along with glacial pacing and poorly staged slapstick. Baby eases up on the latter, and in doing so immediately outclasses the wretched second film, 2004’s Bridget Jones: The Edge Of Reason ...

Here you have another Scream Factory title, which will be judged a little harsher than usual. MGM recently released its own Blu-ray version of Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, and for the most part, it was just fine. In addition to the MGM Region A release, there was also an Arrow Video-released Region B Blu-ray, which most fans have considered the “definitive edition” until now. I have nothing but respect for Arrow Video. They are basically the Criterion of B-movies right now. But I think this new TCM Blu-ray may just trump their excellent release, at least ever-so-slightly in the Pq department. As for the movie itself, I’m a big fan, always have been. I know it’s a divisive title among fans because it abandoned the relentlessly terrifying tone of the first movie, and opted for a more humorous approach, but it’s utterly fascinating. That opening scene is...

This third week of April has some exciting home entertainment offerings for us genre fans, including the special edition releases of two cult classics I adore, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 and The Stuff. An indie film I’ve been hearing about for a while now, Grimewave, also makes its way to DVD this Tuesday and while it may not be traditional horror, Oscar-winner The Revenant certainly has enough badassery contained within its cinematic frames to be worthy of mentioning this week, and it arrives on both Blu-ray and DVD on April 19th.
Other notable releases this week include Smothered (which features a ton of horror icons and was directed by John Schneider of Smallville and Dukes of Hazzard fame), 15 Till Midnight, Classroom 6, Ip Man 3, German Angst and She Wolf Rising.

Directed by Tamra Davis
Written by Nelson George, Robert LoCash and Chris Rock
1993, USA
Back in 1993, two low-budget mockumentary-style comedies based on Gangsta Rap were released. The better of the two is Rusty Cundieff’s Canadian indie gem Fear of a Black Hat, chronicling the rise and fall of Nwh, a not particularly talented but always controversial hip-hop group. The second was CB4, about the rise to fame of Mc Gusto, Stab Master Arson, and Dead Mike, members of the rap group Cell Block 4. The similarities between the two are uncanny, so much so that one would think someone got their greedy hands on the other script and decided to shamefully steal the idea.
Written by music critic Nelson George and Saturday Night Live’s Chris Rock (who also plays the lead role of Albert, a k a Mc Gusto), this spoof on gangsta rap targets controversial rap groups (specifically N.W.A.) and deliberately provocative,...

Prince Fox is swiftly rising to the top of the dance music scene and in celebration of hitting 25k Facebook likes, the New York producer has released a 25k Giveaway Pack.
His signature chill and future house sound takes over five of the songs that are included in the pack. Cazzette, Dirty South and Florence & The Machine are given the Prince Fox treatment, while the producer adds a heavier bass line and a killer synth symphony to Major Lazer’s “Lean On” and “Don’t Look Down” by Martin Garrix. The latter two tracks are available on SoundCloud, while the remainder can be heard by downloading the pack.
Diverging from the rest of the release, Prince Fox brings in a bouncy trap mash-up of Jackal, Boombox Cartel and House of Pain, proving himself to be a lot more than a one-sound pony, with a masterful hand and ear in a variety of genres.

The Last Ship: “Phase Six” - Sunday, June 22 at 9 Pm
It’s supposed to be a fairly standard mission for naval commander Tom Chandler (Eric Dane). His crew is out at sea with no connection to the mainland; they’re cut off for stealth purposes, but it’s not out of the ordinary. A few Cdc researchers including the head doctor Rachel Scott (Rhona Mitra) have been traveling with them, doing some science in Arctic conditions, and it’s just routine research. And everyone is supposed to be going home shortly.

There are numerous underrated or forgotten horror classics from yesteryear. While many will rewatch great classics like Frankenstein and Dracula, few will attempt to look much further. One such “lost” movie is the horror classic, The Island Of Lost Souls starring the inimitable, Charles Laughton as the cold, soulless Victor Frankenstein-like Dr. Moreau. As the star of this movie, Laughton is amazing but it’s the darkness that quietly impresses. A horror film noir, its shadows and blackness create a mood that is sinister in all aspects. The movie is perfect in black and white. Genre fans should occasionally “cleanse their palates” of modern horror and CGI to appreciate the older foundations of the genre.
In this movie adaptation of H.G. Wells 1896 book, The Island Of Dr. Moreau, Edward Parker (played by Richard Arlen), our hero, is floating on the sea after an unseen shipwreck. He is rescued by...

Pretty much the first thing Digital Spy saw when making our way down the stairs to the Grand Room in London's Grosvenor House, location of the TV BAFTAs after-party, was Danny Dyer posing with a young boy as his dad took a picture, presumably making the little guy beam by complimenting his "lovely" mini tux.
That's the kind of event we're talking about here - an event where a star arguably still best known for playing violent, foul-mouthed British gangsters can take a moment to make some kid's night. Everyone was happy. Everyone was in a friendly mood. And everyone was ready to party.
But first, these people needed some food. Some hit the red carpet way back at 5pm after a good couple of hours of preparation, and then had to sit through an entire awards ceremony. If Claudia Winkleman displays half as much passion about Strictly as she did about dessert,...

Ryan Reynolds voices Theo the snail in the animated comedy Turbo from DreamWorks. Featuring a garden snail whose dream of becoming racing world champion comes true, it was one of the most popular family films of 2013.
The film is available to watch online now without a subscription, thanks to blinkbox.
Here are five reasons you should clear your schedule and watch Turbo instead:
1. It's not just for kids
Like with most DreamWorks offerings, the film is not exclusively aimed at children, and there are plenty of gags and pop culture references that all family members will enjoy. It's also surprisingly dark at times when it comes to the scary crows who terrorise the garden snail population.
2. It has a great voice cast
As well as lead star Ryan Reynolds, there is quite a variety of talent that you'll recognise. Paul Giamatti plays Theo's best friend, plus there's Michael Pena, Maya Rudolph,...

With 111.5-million U.S. viewers, and a further 7.3-million in Canada, Super Bowl Xlviii was the most-watched in history. The commercial spots were the most expensive for any TV broadcast in any given year, and there were plenty of big name stars and A-list directors who helped create these very expensive advertisements. John Hillcoat, director of The Road, helmed the spot for Coke. The minute long ad featuring a multilingual rendition of “America the Beautiful” was refreshing to many, but left a bitter taste in the mouth of conservative pundits. Bruce Willis and Fred Armisen get close for Hyundai, and prolific music video and film director, Mark Romanek (Never Let Me Go), re-teamed with U2 for the Bank of America “Invisible spot”(Romanek directed U2 in an Apple commercial in 2004). The small screen rarely attracts this many big screen filmmakers in one night, so we decided to vote on our...

I must have been about 12 years old when I first saw Tarzan and His Mate. I loved the Tarzan movies. Tarzan was the undisputed King of the Jungle and was the greatest, Cheetah was man’s best friend, Boy was annoying, and Jane was the Queen of the Jungle and a young male’s introduction to the allure of the female. The uncensored version, with a naked Jane silhouetted while changing clothes in a backlit tent and the spectacular underwater ballet scene would have been a revelation to me; Tarzan and Jane are frolicking in their favorite swimming hole, Tarzan in his usual loincloth and Jane naked – not naked from the waste up, or presumed naked as they hid her behind some lake flora or rocks – Jane was naked.

Even if you don’t watch or like horror movies you still know who Freddy Kruger is. Same goes for Michael Myers, Ghostface, Leatherface and Jason Voorhees. Yet while these demons and madmen figure greatly into horror mythology there are a whole slew of worthy villains that, either because they starred in lackluster movies or failed to ensure a box-office franchise, have not been given their due. This list will attempt to right those wrongs and shine a spotlight on the unsung monsters, those that give us nightmares and elicit a fear of the dark that Freddy and Jason just can’t do.

September 24 - 27 is "Don Jon" week on Moviefone! So, when you're done at the gym (or, ahem, finished doing something else on the Internet), hit up Moviefone and get juiced on a daily exclusive from Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Scarlett Johansson's new comedy/drama.
If you don't know what a meme is, prepare to be schooled.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt, multi-talented writer/director/star of "Don Jon" and Internet enthusiast extraordinaire, has a thing or two to teach you (and co-star Scarlett Johansson) about the web phenomenon.
In the exclusive video above, the actor -- who's been thinking a lot about memes since becoming one earlier this year (see: "Joseph Gordon-Levitt Working Out"; hey, we had a little something to do with that) -- not only explains what one is, but details the origin of the word and how it became culturally absorbed by the interwebs. So, it turns out that Gordon-Levitt isn't just multi-talented,...

Well known for playing characters with an unstable edge and an evil glare, Shannon will be battling against Henry Cavill's Superman in the highly-anticipated film.
Here are ten things that you may not know about the man behind the villainous Zod.
1. Shannon was born in Kentucky on August 7, 1974. His mother is a lawyer and his father was an accounting professor. He was raised in both Kentucky and Chicago after his parents divorced.

The new fall season is closer than you think, and NBC has released their full schedule. Apart from reality favorites The Biggest Loser and The Voice, they are mixing things up quite a bit.
Take a look at a complete preview of the shows coming your way, and mark your calendars. It looks good for NBC this year, and while I’m not sure all of these look like winners, I think you’ll find at least a couple that you’re really going to like.

Doctors. Aside from the medical field, they've excelled in so many areas. Literature… Dr. Seuss. Sports… Dr. J. Sugary beverages… Dr. Pepper. Successful doctors are everywhere. And they've certainly left their mark in - and on - the horror genre.
Without a doubt more than a few movie doctors have gone off the deep end, many of them with some pretty colorful results. We've seen our favorite doctors and scientists do all kinds of nasty things to their human victims. Most take bodies apart, but a couple of them even put things back together, most notably Dr. Frankenstein. Yes, there have been some great ones, like Dr. Anton Phibes, Dr. Jekyll and Dr. Giggles, but here are a few of our other favorites: Seven of the Most Deviously Frightful Doctors in Horror Films.

You've heard the expression "the cobbler's children go barefoot," right? In case you haven't, it's a metaphor that speaks to when one's professional skills fail to impact their personal life in a helpful way. In the case of Tyler Perry's latest drama Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor, this idiom would apply to Judith, an Ivy League educated relationship expert whose marriage of six years is in crisis. The passion is gone, so when a fiery and very rich client comes into her office seeking advice, the pair sparks an attraction that leads to temptation. Check out its first trailer below, courtesy of Yahoo: The feature is flush with television stars. Friday Night Lights' Jurnee Smollett headlines as Judith. Perry's House of Pain alum Lance Gross plays Brice, and Robbie Jones of Hellcats and One Tree Hill takes on the role of Judith's would-be lover Harley. Lending supporting,...

"The road to hell is paved with good intentions." Truer words were never spoken. So when someone decides to construct a body from cadaver parts and reanimate it with a lightning bolt, or surgically connect three people with one gastroenterological tract, they always hope for the best. Unfortunately, that's not usually the result.
Which leads us to our latest list of the best and the brightest. In honor of the DVD/Blu-ray release of The Apparition on November 27th, we bring out our list of Top 11 films featuring Experiments Gone Wrong.
As always, we've got to give a shout out to a few honorable mentions. Who would think that things would go wrong with keeping a cryogenically frozen Jason Voorhees, as in Jason X? Surprisingly, things went bad there. The splicing of DNA from different animals sounds like a brilliant idea, no? Splice proved that was a wonky idea as well.

Want to watch the top 250 movies of all time in less than 3 minutes? Well, you're in luck.
In this amazing movie mashup, YouTube user Jonathan Keogh spliced together clips from the Internet Movie Database’s top 250 list (plus an additional 53 films of his own choosing). Keogh's video weaves together snapshots from a whole plethora of iconic films, including "Million Dollar Baby," "Schindler's List," "Beauty and the Beast" and "A Clockwork Orange."
The song used in the video, says Keogh, is itself a YouTube mashup. A mix of Joan Jett, The Beatles, House of Pain and Cypress Hill, the tune was knitted together by DJ Faroff.
"The video just went online Friday, but is clearly destined for viral success," Mashable's Sam Laird wrote after watching the clip.
We can't help but agree.
How many films can you identify in the video? Would you have included any others? Tell us in the comments below.

Pre-Halloween Horrors! week begins at Trailers from Hell with director John Landis introducing 1932's "Island of Lost Souls," starring Charles Laughton as the gleefully maniacal Dr. Moreau overseeing his House of Pain, and Bela Lugosi as "part man... part beast!" "They're restless tonight," mutters the insane Dr. Moreau about the vengeful natives on whom he's been doing presciently Mengele-like experiments. Philip Wylie was one of the screenwriters who adapted H.G. Wells' anti-vivisectionist screed, which was remade in 1977 and 1996, with uncredited ripoffs in 1959 (Terror is a Man) and 1973 (Twilight People). For a movie banned in many countries for years this has been a very influential film. Musical impressions ensued from bands Oingo Boingo, Devo, Van Halen and Manimals. One of the greatest and darkest of the early '30s horror cycle.

The Vice Presidential debate between Joe Biden and Paul Ryan is Thursday night, and People got the jump on things by asking Joe Biden and Congressman Paul Ryan from Wisconsin to go toe-to-toe on ... tunes. And they proved about as far apart on music as they are on, well, Medicare. Favorite song on the campaign trail? Biden chose the soulful and sultry love song "You Are The Best Thing," by Ray Lamontagne, while Ryan went with AC/DC's hard-rocking "It's a Long Way to the Top." Sentimentality also hit different notes in the category "song that reminds me of home.

For years now Island Of Lost Souls has been DVD’s most glaring omission from the Golden Age of Horror. It won the Rondo Award several times for Film Most in Need of DVD Released or Restoration , but last October, classic horror fans rejoiced when Criterion finally released the film. They were not disappointed and this year, not surprisingly, Island Of Lost Souls won the Rondo for Best Classic DVD.

With all the talk about a yet-to-be-seen Black Panther movie, let's not forget about Wesley Snipe's Blade trilogy - with Blade 2 being the best of the 3 in my not-so humble opinion. Guillermo del Toro made what I think was the highlight of the trio of films, and it still ranks highly on my list of superhero action movies. The entire "House Of Pain" sequence still gets me giddy everytime I watch the film, even though I've seen it countless times. Blade II was released on March 22, 2002, en route to becoming the most successful film of the Blade franchise, grossing over $155 million worldwide ($80 million of that in the USA). Certainly not Dark Knight or...
