Every few months, someone seems to ask either the show’s creator Bryan Fuller or series star Mads Mikkelsen what’s going on with their hoped-for revival of Hannibal. Eight years have gone by since NBC cancelled the television series, which was inspired by characters in novels by Thomas Harris, after its third season, but Fuller, Mikkelsen, and fellow star Hugh Dancy have always let it be known that they’re hoping to reunite to make a fourth season at a new home. Eight months ago, Mikkelsen said, “It’s all about finding a home for it. Of course, we’re running out of time. We can’t wait twenty years, but in the next couple of years, if somebody finds a home, I think we’re all ready to take it up again.” Now, during an interview with Business Insider, Mikkelsen has given an update, saying there’s still...

Along with The Mist and Dreamcatcher, Cycle of the Werewolf was one of my first introductions to Stephen King, so the Master of Horror's powerfully poignant prose in that novella—combined with the legendary Bernie Wrightson's amazing illustrations—will forever hold a special place in my horror-loving heart, and so too does its film adaptation: Dan Attias' Silver Bullet (which really captures the blood-soaked slice of small-town life in Tarker's Mills).
It's especially thrilling, then, that Scream Factory will be unleashing their Collector's Edition of Silver Bullet on 4K Uhd and Blu-ray just in time for the holiday season, and we have a look at the full list of bonus features fans can look forward to, including a new audio commentary with Eric Vespe and Scott Wampler of The Kingcast!

Exclusive: Film Bridge International is launching sales at AFM on horror Xelter, whose producers include The De Laurentiis Company (Hannibal) and Head Gear Films (Talk To Me).
The period horror film directed by Martin Bonnici is currently in production in Malta, with a cast of Maltese newcomers alongside actors including Brit Bobby Schofield (The Covenant) and Irish actor Moe Dunford (Vikings).
The WWII-set movie charts the legend of the Babaw, a supernatural creature known for stalking and killing children. The film, inspired by true historical events, sees citizens of Malta take shelter from Nazi bombardment in the ancient catacombs underneath the cities, where they suffered deadly peril from collapsing tunnels and entrapment. That experience scarred a generation, and led to stories about creatures that stole children who strayed too far away from their parents.
Screenplay was written by Scottish screenwriter and comics writer Emma Beeby, based on a story Beeby wrote with Gordon Rennie.

Hannibal Lecter… a name that has been cemented forever in the hearts of horror fans alike. We’ve seen him in some truly gruesome, yet unforgettable films. The most well known is The Silence of the Lambs, which was followed up in 2001 with the mostly disliked, self-titled Hannibal. But the very next year, in 2002, we were treated to somewhat of a redemption story of Hannibal Lecter in the form of Red Dragon (watch it Here). Did you know though, that this wasn’t the first time Red Dragon was made? Did you also know that none other than Brett Ratner, of then Rush Hour fame, directed this psychological thriller? Stephen King has written hundreds of short stories and more than sixty novels, but he has only directed one movie. The goofball 1986 film Maximum Overdrive (watch it Here), which came to Blu-ray as part of the Vestron Video Collector’s Series back in 2018. Now it has been announced that Vestron Video has put together a special steelbook release of Maximum Overdrive – and this steelbook will only be available at Walmart! The street date is May 30th, and pre-orders are already been accepted on Walmart.com.
Images of the steelbook case can be seen at the bottom of this article.
Based on King’s short story Trucks, Maximum Overdrive has the following synopsis: After a comet causes a radiation storm on Earth, machines come to life and turn against their makers. Holed up in a North Carolina truck stop, a group of survivors must fend for themselves against a mass of homicidal trucks.

Roughly three months after her death, the stately Los Angeles compound of Martha De Laurentiis has popped up for sale, armed with a hefty $37.5 million asking price. The longtime home of the filmmaker and her legendary producer husband, Dino De Laurentiis, who passed away back in 2010, the nearly 6,000-square-foot mansion was built in the 1940s and sits in the mountains above Beverly Hills, replete with jaw-dropping vistas stretching from downtown L.A. to the Pacific Ocean.
The Italy-born Oscar winner and his American wife acquired the spread 35 years ago for about $2.8 million and subsequently embarked on an elaborate customization of the premises. They renovated the kitchen, converted a portion of the attic into a bedroom and bath, and added a tennis court; Martha also later installed solar panels in the canyon below.

A remake of Stephen King’s “Firestarter,” starring Zac Efron, debuted its official trailer and announced a day-and-date premiere on Peacock and in theaters on May 13.
The film, based on King’s 1980 novel and the 1984 original movie, follows Charlie (Ryan Kiera Armstrong), a young girl who develops pyrokinetic superpowers and is captured by a government agency who wishes to use her gift as a weapon. Sydney Lemmon will play Charlie’s mother, while Efron plays her father. Michael Greyeyes, Gloria Reuben, Kurtwood Smith and John Beasley also star.
The explosive trailer sees Armstrong’s Charlie taking on bad guys with fire as her parents try to protect her. “She just has to shove it down and keep it hidden,” Efron says in the trailer. “Our responsibility is to protect her. If they catch her, they’re gonna put her in a cage. They’re gonna run tests on her for the rest of her life.

Universal already had May 13 this year reserved for a Blumhouse movie, and it turns out that’s Firestarter. The movie will go day-and-date on Peacock too as the streamer needs to up its paid subscriber count. Firestarter is the only wide theatrical release on May 13, and follows the weekend after Disney/Marvel’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
This is the fourth Universal theatrical release to go day-and-date on Peacock after The Boss Baby: Family Business, Blumhouse/Miramax’s Halloween Kills and this weekend’s romantic comedy Marry Me starring Jennifer Lopez and Owen Wilson. It’s technically five NBCUniversal movies going theatrical day-and-date on Peacock this year, if you count the upcoming release of Focus Features’ Sundance acquisition Honk for Jesus. Save Your Soul, which has yet to set a date.
As of this minute, it’s questionable whether a Peacock availability of a movie shaves off...

Blumhouse Productions’ adaptation of the Stephen King novel “Firestarter” has gotten a release date and a first trailer. The film will hit theaters and Peacock on May 13.
Starring Zac Efron and Sydney Lemmon as parents Andy and Vicky, the story follows them on the run as they attempt to hide their daughter Charlie (Ryan Kiera Armstrong) from the government. Charlie has pyrokinetic abilities and, naturally, a sketchy agency wants to use her and her powers as a weapon.
Charlie’s powers tend to burst out in moments of anger or pain, but her father has taught her how to defuse it, at least temporarily. But as Charlie turns 11, her fire becomes harder and harder to control.
When Charlie accidentally gives up her family’s hiding place, a mysterious operative (Michael Greyeyes) is sent out to hunt down the family and take Charlie.
You can watch the first trailer for “Firestarter” in the video above.

When you hear the name Dr. Hannibal Lecter, a few things spring to mind—and none of them are likely to involve Italian poet Dante Alighieri or opera. Of course there’s good reason for this, with Lecter’s exotic cooking ingredients superseding his gentler affectations. But even so, when author Thomas Harris first imagined how the character might move in the wild for the novel Hannibal, it was with baroque glee he unleashed the doctor in Florence: Italy’s Renaissance city and Dante’s medieval stomping grounds.
Director Ridley Scott similarly understood that secret recipe. His film version of Hannibal relishes every Italian colonnade Anthony Hopkins walks under, or the way the shadow of the statue of David casts darkness on its star’s face, often as he stands in the same spot where men were hanged or immolated centuries ago. In its better moments, Scott’s movie savors...

An esteemed forensic psychologist who moonlights as a cannibalistic serial killer doesn’t exactly sound like the type of character that would serve as the basis for a sprawling multimedia empire, but Thomas’ Harris most famous literary creation isn’t your average protagonist.
Hannibal Lecter first appeared on the big screen in Michael Mann’s Manhunter in 1986 with Brian Cox in the role, but it wasn’t until The Silence of the Lambs five years later that he became a cultural phenomenon thanks to Anthony Hopkins’ instantly-iconic performance. After the psychological thriller swept the board at the Academy Awards, a franchise was born, and while the two sequels suffered from the law of diminishing returns, Hopkins’ three movies still managed to earn over $830 million at the box office.

You can tell how passionate and dedicated a following Hannibal has from the fact that despite being canceled over five years ago, hopes of a revival have never truly quietened down. The show may have originally been axed due to low ratings, but it has only grown more popular since it was first taken off the air with new fans constantly discovering the twisted psychological thriller.
All of the key members of the cast and crew would love to make a fourth season a reality, but nobody has been willing to fund it. However, there’s been a sense of renewed optimism ever since Hannibal debuted on Netflix, where it quickly became one of the streaming service’s most-watched shows, and subtle alterations made to some of the technical aspects had people believing that it could be poised for a comeback.

With the advent of streaming, European television has successfully solidified its place in Hollywood, conquering international audiences with shows such as “Gomorrah,” “Medici” and “Suburra: Blood on Rome,” all Italian dramas available on Netflix, in addition to HBO’s “My Brilliant Friend” and the Italian-French-Spanish thriller “The Young Pope.”
And now, the first-ever Italian Television Festival, spearheaded by Good Girls Planet and Marco Testa Los Angeles, will showcase quality Italian content to Hollywood.
Ahead of this year’s Emmys, the event will take place Sept. 19 at Soho House and will feature screenings and trailers, an awards ceremony, plus an informative panel focused on the future of Italian television. The industry event will wrap up with a red carpet and poolside bash at the London Hotel in West Hollywood.
“The point of this festival is that Italy is producing so much content with really, really good talent, and it’s starting to be recognized internationally.

While serialized dramas have been around for awhile, the relatively recent phenomenon of binging on digital platforms has shaken up the format.
During a Magical Science of Storytelling panel at Intv, Katie O’Connell Marsh, CEO Platform One Media, recalled how, while she ran Gaumont International Television, the company landed the second series greenlight at Netflix for horror drama Hemlock Grove.
They produced and delivered the episodes, with the Netflix executives, led by head of original content Cindy Holland, binging the season in their offices.
“Now it’s matured, so you don’t do this anymore, but there were things we had never thought of,” O’Connell said. “You do music cues, the music cues were becoming repetitive, Cindy at one time said we could end someone in mid-sentence. We had been turning in episodes, but after watching these over the weekend, there were glaring things.”

As someone who has loved Stephen King’s Maximum Overdrive for more than 30 years now (I wrote about it Here a few years back), the recent Vestron Video Collector’s Series Blu-ray for what I consider to be the ultimate cult film of the 1980s is an absolute treasure trove of awesomeness for fans and newcomers alike. The special features dive into literally everything you could want (minus an interview with King and Maximum Overdrive star Emilio Estevez), from the casting to the effects to how producers Dino De Laurentiis and Martha Schumacher (De Laurentiis) helped establish “Hollywood East” in Wilmington, North Carolina, and even follows the story of how the Green Goblin head came to be restored back in 2011.
I won’t really dive into the story of Maximum Overdrive, because chances are, if you’re reading this site, you are probably already pretty familiar with King’s tale...

Exclusive: Emmy winner Tom Fontana is set to write and Oscar and Emmy winner Oliver Stone is set to direct the pilot of Dolce Vita, a period drama series set in 1950s Rome, for Entertainment One and Italian-based Mediaset Group and Martha De Laurentiis’ De Laurentiis Company.
Created and written by Fornata, Dolce Vita is inspired by Stephen Gundle’s 2011 novel Death and Dolce Vita: The Dark Side of Rome in the 1950s, for which eOne acquired the television rights. The true crime novel investigates the murder scandal that rocked Italy and portrays the Rome of romance, luxury, and glamour–as well as a city of carnal crimes, sex, drugs, corruption, and cover-ups.
The series is not related to Federico Fellini’s acclaimed 1960s feature La Dolce Vita, which explored the same decade in Rome from a very different perspective.
Stone is set to helm the pilot in his narrative TV series directing debut.
