On Sunday morning, an intruder broke into the home of Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass (D). The mayor’s office reported the incident at 6:40 a.m. at the Getty House, the mayor’s official residence. The Getty House is located in Hancock Park, five miles west of Los Angeles City Hall.
Deputy Mayor Zach Seidl stated, “Mayor Bass and her family were not injured and are safe. The mayor is grateful to LAPD for responding and arresting the suspect.”
According to authorities, the intruder broke in through a glass door while Bass was home. The intruder, identified as 29-year-old Ephraim Matthew Hunter, was arrested without incident and booked for burglary. Hunter’s presence triggered an alarm in the house, allowing the LAPD to arrive in minutes. Hunter is being held on a $100,000 bail.
It is unclear if Hunter specifically targeted the mayor or came into direct contact with her.

In the early 1990s, Sam Raimi was a low-budget horror maestro who'd made the leap to studio filmmaking without sacrificing his gonzo visual style. Riding high off the commercial success of 1990's "Darkman," a deliriously fun and funky comic-book riff that still stands as one of the best superhero movies ever made, Raimi could pretty much call his shot. So he did. And that's how Universal Pictures bankrolled the third installment of a horror series that most people had never heard of, let alone seen.
The ending of "Evil Dead 2," which dropped the modern-day hero of the first two, tenuously linked movies, in the Middle Ages was an unexpected howler of a punchline. Under no circumstances did I expect Raimi would actually make a third movie set in medieval times. That would be expensive. And silly. But if you could suddenly afford to make an expensively silly movie, would you not?...

A new documentary series will explore Elvis Costello’s upcoming album Spanish Model, a project in which he and producer Sebastian Krys invited artists from across the Spanish-speaking world to adapt the songs from Costello’s seminal 1978 LP This Year’s Model in an entirely new language.
The artists, who include Fito Páez, Juanes, La Marisoul, Luis Fonsi, Fuego, and Jorge Drexler, helped recreate the tracks by performing over the original master recordings — an experience they’ll discuss in the documentary.

Ace’s “How Long,” a No. 3 hit in 1975 for the British rock band, was the first single to introduce music audiences to the voice of Paul Carrack, who went on to become a vocalist for other influential groups like Squeeze and Mike & The Mechanics. And thanks to a buzzy new TV campaign from Amazon’s Prime and Echo Show tablet, Carrack’s first hit is finding a whole new audience.

Warner Bros. has released a couple of new clips from their upcoming new DC animated film Batman: Hush. The first clip is called “Batman Vs. Bane” so, of course, you are going to get to see the two characters brutally fight! The second clip is called “Cat Chase” which features Batman chasing down Catwoman.
I’m a big fan of this Batman storyline which was originally written by Jeph Loeb with art by Jim Lee. I liked the first trailer that was released and there’s a good chance this will be a decent adaptation that fans will enjoy. Here’s the synopsis for those of you not familiar with the story:

Now that the likes of Year One, The Dark Knight Returns, The Killing Joke and Under the Red Hood are out of the way, it’s long overdue that Batman: Hush be adapted as an animated film. Not only does the source material remain my favorite comic book story arc to feature the Caped Crusader, but it also serves as a perfect jumping on point because it includes so many essential characters.
Fortunately, we won’t have to wait much longer for it to arrive, as the flick will be made available digitally beginning on July 2oth, with 4K Ultra HD Combo Pack and Blu-ray Combo Pack releases set to follow on August 13th. Additionally, it’ll also hit the DC Universe streaming service on the latter date given.

Warner Bros. has released the first trailer for their upcoming new DC animated film Batman: Hush. I love this Batman story and it’s great to see that it’s finally getting an animated film adaptation. It looks like it’ll be a pretty solid movie. I liked what I saw in this first trailer.
The original story was written by Jeph Loeb and it featured art by Jim Lee penciling, Scott Williams inking, and Alex Sinclair coloring. Here’s the synopsis for those of you not familiar:
Batman: Hush centers on a mysterious new villain known only as Hush, who uses a rogues’ gallery of villains to destroy Batman’s crime-fighting career as well as Bruce Wayne’s personal life, which has been further complicated by a relationship with Selina Kyle/Catwoman.
The film will be voiced by a slew of DC veterans as well as some new blood.

If you were to ask me which comic book movie I’m anticipating most in 2019, I’d have two answers for you. The obvious one is Joker because it’s being released theatrically in October, but overall, Batman: Hush takes the cake for me. It may be animated and direct-to-video, sure, but I’ve long waited for my favorite story featuring the Caped Crusader to be adapted to film.
Whetting the appetites of myself and those familiar with the source material is that of the first trailer promoting the flick, which can be viewed at the top of this article. To be honest, I’m quite proud of what I’m seeing. In reality, you can’t cram everything from a story which spanned twelve issues into one feature-length film, but the finer points are there.

The next DC Universe Original Movie will be an animated adaptation of classic 2000s graphic novel Hush, originally from writer Jeph Loeb and artist Jim Lee. The story sees the Dark Knight confronting a mysterious new villain called Hush and features a number of friends and foes from the DC mythos. It’s ripe to be brought to the screen, then, and now Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has released a first look at the movie.

Batman: Hush is finally receiving an animated adaptation in 2019.
The beloved Batman: Hush storyline from the comics is being adapted into an animated film by DC.
The original story, which was written by Jeph Loeb and drawn by Jim Lee, follows a mysterious villain known only as Hush who seems intent on stalking Batman and ruining his life. Unfortunately for the Caped Crusader, it seems that all of the city's most notorious villains have picked this moment to go after the Dark Knight as well. To make matters worse, a series of incidents brings a lot of "old friends" back into Batman's life just as he is trying to explore whether or not he and Catwoman have a future together.
Hush is famous for its mysterious, noir-tinged story, some truly incredible moments in the Batman mythology, and for Lee's amazing artwork. Indeed, some consider Hush...

The female prison movies of the '60s and '70s focused on sexploitation. In these films, semi-naked shower scenes and brawls were plentiful. But, the filmmakers of Raze have chosen to alter this genre from the sexy to the blood-filled. In Raze, several characters partake in an all women fighting tournament, which lasts until there is only one survivor. Director Josh C. Waller and the writing team of Robert Beaucage and Kenny Gage have created a thrilling action focused tale, here. Dramatic elements and characterizations are relegated to a few scenes of dialogue and flashbacks. Instead of focusing exclusively on the characters and story, Raze deals with one woman's struggle out of bloodsport and her battle with psychopathic tournament directors. Here's the trailer for a crazy-looking violent action thriller called Raze. The story follows a group of woman who are trapped in enclosed spaces and forced to fight to the death to keep their loved ones alive. This looks like a pretty twisted movie that has a very gritty and hardcore feel to it. If you're into films that involve fights to the death, then I'm sure you'll enjoy this one.
The movie was directed by Josh C. Waller, and it stars Zoë Bell (Death Proof), Rachel Nichols, Tracie Thoms, Doug Jones, Sherilyn Fenn, and Bruce Thomas. Here's the synopsis,
Awakening after being abducted, Jamie finds herself in a concrete bunker, and she discovers that she is not alone. She and Sabrina, a fellow abductee, both soon realize that they are in a modern day “coliseum” where, along with 48 other women, they are condemned to kill each other in order...

IFC Midnight has debuted a bloody and violent new theatrical trailer for the action/Horror film Raze, starring Zoe Bell and Rachel Nichols. The trailer below, which shows cameos by Doug Jones and Bruce Thomas, makes it look like it could be a pretty good film, but man is it going to be brutally violent, that is for sure. Women beating the crap out of each other? It may sound a little like Girlfight but Raze looks far more violent and brutal than the Michelle Rodriguez classic.
Directed by Josh C. Waller who seems to be quickly developing a production record that is reminiscent of Roger Corman, Raze stars action queen Zoe Bell and Rachel Nichols (currently kicking ass as a future cop in "Continuum"), as two women in a group of fifty who have been kidnapped and are forced to fight eachother to the death without the use of weapons and unsurprisingly, the trailer suggests that things get brutal.
Doug Jones and Bruce Thomas have small appearances but this is all about the women and as far as I'm concerned, that's a great thing. IFC Midnight will release Raze in theat [Continued ...]...

Fight or Die. IFC Midnight has debuted a bloody and violent new theatrical trailer for the action-horror film Raze, starring Zoe Bell and Rachel Nichols and a whole bevy of kick ass women. We featured a poster and trailer for this film just a month back, and its been playing at a few film festivals including Tribeca and even New York Comic-Con. This trailer, with nice cameos by Doug Jones and Bruce Thomas, makes it look like it could be a pretty good film, but man is it going to be brutally violent, that is for sure. I wish this was red band so we could see a bit more of the violence, but it's actually wild enough. On paper this may not sound like something you'd want to see, but it looks cool. Good job editing, IFC. May the best woman win. Here's the full theatrical trailer for Josh C. Waller's Raze,...

Check out this image of 'Desaad' as he appears in the animated feature, Justice League: War, out next year. The plot of the film is based off of the first volume of Geoff Johns and Jim Lee's Justice League New 52 series. The film features Jason O'Mara as Batman, Alan Tudyk as Superman, Steve Blum as Darkseid, Christopher Gorham as The Flash and much, much more. Desaad will be voiced by Bruce Thomas, who isn't new to the world of DC Comics. He portrayed 'Batman' in a small cameo in the short-lived television series, Birds Of Prey as well as in General Motors' OnStar commercials.

The third season of "Baby Daddy" is also featuring a "Kyle Xy" reunion for Jean-Lucy Bilodeau, when Bruce Thomas guest-stars as a possible love interest for Bonnie.

"Baby Daddy" previously reunited Matt Dallas and Jean-Luc Bilodeau, both formerly of ABC Family drama "Kyle Xy." Now Bilodeau is sharing the set with another "Xy" alum -- Bruce Thomas, who played Kyle's father on the show.
Thomas is guest-starring in Season 3 of "Baby Daddy" as Jim, a sociable guy who clicks with Bonnie (Melissa Peterman), Ben's mom. Unfortunately, Bonnie is already dating Jim's son Brad (Peter Porte). Uh oh! What will Jim do?
Thomas has also been seen on "Weeds," "Bones" and gave a memorable turn in "Legally Blonde" opposite Jennifer COolidge.
The "Baby Daddy" Season 2 finale airs next Wednesday, Sept. 4 at 8:30 p.m. Et/Pt on ABC Family.

Watch the trailer and see the first poster for Josh C. Waller's Raze, starring Zoe Bell and Rachel Nichols, as well as Tracie Thoms, Sherilyn Fenn, Doug Jones, Bruce Thomas, Rebecca Marshall and Rosario Dawson. In all honesty, I've never heard of this one, but it's good to see Bell working with Thoms again after the Grindhouse's Death Proof segment bac in 2007. I recall speaking to both of them at the Atlanta Motor Speedway about that one, time flies. Moving on... Waller helms the film, and also wrote the story alongside Kenny Gage and Robert Beaucage, who in turn wrote the script. Raze opens April 21st, 2013 and is produced by Andrew Pagana, Gage, Waller and Bell.

Last Friday, June 22nd, this writer hit the set of Josh C. Waller’s then-shooting action/horror feature Raze and while there chatted with the flick’s writer and co-producer Robert Beaucage as well as two of the film’s stars, Zoe Bell and Tracie Thoms.
Our second visit to Raze (we spent some time on set last year when it was envisioned as a web series and was shooting in South L.A.; watch our interview with Zoe Bell, Rachel Nichols and Josh C. This time we found the project has grown into a feature length film, following the pre-sales it garnered at Cannes, and the addition of Quincy Studios, which has paired with Cosmic Toast Studios on the production.
