The Conners will be saying goodbye to one of its original stars as Michael Fishman departs the series ahead of Season 5, but how will his character DJ Conner be written out of the show? According to TV Line, executive producer Bruce Helford explained how the show will handle the character’s absence. Ahead of the September 21 premiere, Helford revealed that DJ will be thousands of miles away from Lanford. “He’s visiting [Geena], who right now is stationed overseas,” Helford said. “She was involved in the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan, and she is still overseas on assignment, so he is going to be going over and spending time with his wife. It does get addressed in the first few episodes.” (Credit: ABC/Robert Trachtenberg) DJ’s wife Geena was played by Maya Lynne Robinson when The Conners launched in 2018, but as fans will recall, she left after Season 1 as the character reenlisted in the Army.

A version of this story about “The Outpost” first appeared in the Race Begins issue of TheWrap’s awards magazine.
When he started planning his combat movie “The Outpost,” based on the Jake Tapper book about the Battle of Kamdesh in which a few dozen Americans were ambushed by hundreds of Taliban fighters in Afghanistan, director Rod Lurie wanted to include a song that would be sung on screen by one of the soldiers. But he didn’t know what that song would say until the most tragic event of his life, when his son, Hunter, died suddenly of a blood clot during preproduction.
“My son passed in front of my eyes when he was 27,” said Lurie, who had flown back from the Bulgarian set to a Michigan hospital. “I started being contacted by the Gold Star families offering their support, which was amazing because I’m making a movie...

Whenever director Robert Trachtenberg tells people he's made a film about Bing Crosby, he says, "The overwhelming response is, 'He's the guy who hit his kids.'" The actor-crooner's Daddy Dearest image was shaped by the 1983 tell-all memoir from son Gary. But Trachtenberg believes Bing Crosby: Rediscovered, his latest project for American Masters (Tuesday at 8/7c on PBS), will remind viewers that despite his flaws, Crosby is one of the 20th century's most influential pop culture figures.

While I'm not a Glee fanatic, I can't be silent about this Glee-related issue any longer: The male cast of Glee is hot, hot, hot. They always have been, but only now have I felt the need to catalog it. Whether we're talking about the smoldering hots of Chord Overstreet or the self-confident sexiness of Matthew Morrison, the dudes of Fox's juggernaut continue to stun.
If you know me, you know I love countdowns. Let's make this occasion formal and count down the Top 10 off-the-show moments in hotness for Glee's male half. Ready?
10. Grant Gustin inks his way home.

The visually arresting photo above of 20-year-old actor Chris Colfer in his teenage Kurt Hummel persona is sure to raise some eyebrows. Particularly since it situates the 16-year old character in a leather gay bar drinking what appears to be an appletini and surrounded by much older admirers.
The staff is all over the map on this one, so we thought we'd ask AfterElton.com readers what they think of the image. Does it cross a line?
Please voice your opinion in the poll below and in the comments.

Chicago – TNT’s medical drama “HawthoRNe” would have felt overly generic in any month of the year, but debuting in the same one as Showtime’s far darker, subtler and more entertaining “Nurse Jackie” does the show no favors at all. Jada Pinkett Smith executive-produces and stars in a well-intentioned program with a good pedigree (John Masius of “St. Elsewhere” is one of the producers) but one that feels like a relic of a bygone era of more manipulative television.
Television Rating: 2.0/5.0 The premiere of “HawthoRNe” introduces us to the title character, Nurse Christina Hawthorne, on the one-year anniversary of her husband’s death. Hawthorne is the Chief Nursing Officer at Richmond Trinity Hospital, leading a group of nurses against two-dimensional doctors always trying to screw them over and patients who need them to survive.
