Thanos made his live-action debut in The Avengers with Damion Poitier playing the iconic MCU character. After Josh Brolin took over the role, Thanos appeared as the primary antagonist of the Infinity Saga.

Thanos’ MCU appearance was successful and Brolin made quite the spectacle of the role. However, Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man sacrificed himself to kill off the villain. Now, with the Kang debacle after Jonathan Majors’ firing from Marvel Studios, the future of the Marvel big bad for Avengers: Secret Wars remained uncertain in many ways. That’s where Thanos’ return speculation gets its prominence.

Marvel Studios’ animated anthology series What If…?, created by A.C. Bradley based on the Marvel Comic series is the studios’ first animated series. Jeffrey Wright stars as The Watcher and also narrates the series.
The first season of What If…?, was a part of Phase Four of the MCU with nine episodes premiering, and the second season of the series has been included in Phase Five. The series has received positive responses from the audience and the critics with special mentions for the voice acting, creative and impressive storylines, and animation. ‘Thanos’ Josh Brolin Once Admitted To Disliking The Process Of Creating The Mad Titan Through CGI ( Photo Credit – IMDb )
Josh Brolin gave Marvel fans the most iconic comic book villains when he appeared as Thanos in the MCU. The big bad purple bald guy beat the crap out of the Avengers in Infinity War and Endgame, but filming the scenes felt strange to the Oldboy star. He reportedly did not like the process of creating the Mad Titan on screen via visual effects. Scroll below to get the deets.
Before Brolin, Damion Poitier appeared as Thanos in 2012’s The Avengers’ mid-credit scene. The MCU films are always heavy on CGI, the same process used to create the Mad Titan. The movies earned millions at the box office. As per reports, Marvel’s quality has dropped after Avengers: Endgame, and creating a more ruthless villain than Brolin’s antagonist has been a challenge for Marvel.

The first season of Marvel Studios' "Loki" expanded the Marvel Cinematic Universe into a full-on multiverse. Picking up after the events of "Avengers: Endgame," the series places the trickster god (Tom Hiddleston) on a new mission with the Time Variance Authority to preserve the timeline. In addition to introducing the concept of an MCU multiverse, "Loki" also introduces the McU's current primary antagonist, Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors). The show returns for its second season on Disney+ on October 6, as Loki explores the fallout from the actions of his alternate timeline variant Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino).
With Loki appearing throughout the MCU regularly since 2011's "Thor," there is plenty to go over to prepare for the second season of "Loki." From a full explainer on the Asgardians' place in the MCU to Loki's fall and eventual redemption, the God of Mischief has endured a rollercoaster of an arc. Here is...

During last year’s Game Awards, 505 Games announced Crime Boss: Rockay City. Nobody knew what the game was really about, as the trailer promised celebrities such as Michael Madsen, Kim Basinger, Danny Trejo, and Danny Glover. After that trailer, we didn’t really hear anything about the game until its recent release. And now we might know why.
On March 28, Crime Boss: Rockay City essentially stealth released on the Epic Games store, with the Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 versions to follow shortly this June. Reviews dropped around the same time, and most, if not all, say the same thing: Crime Boss: Rockay City plays a lot like PayDay 2 but much worse. Controls are floaty, missions are more or less the same, and enemies tend to be unfair bullet sponges. Even when a job seemingly calls for stealth, one way or another, it always ends in shootouts. The Marvel Cinematic Universe featured a long build-up to Thanos before the Mad Titan finally took center stage in "Avengers: Infinity War." The villain made a cameo at the end of 2012's "The Avengers," played by stand-in Damion Poitier. But it took two more years for the villain to make a proper debut in "Guardians of the Galaxy," played by Josh Brolin, who would also portray the villain in "Infinity War" and its sequel, "Avengers: Endgame."
Thanos only appears in two scenes in "Guardians of the Galaxy," but he's the one who sets the story in motion: He wants the movie's MacGuffin, an orb containing the Power Stone. So he sends his daughters Gamora (Zoe Saldana) and Nebula (Karen Gillan), along with hired help Ronan the Accuser (Lee Pace), to get it. The quest for the orb winds up bringing the Guardians together.

Many of the best-known Marvel movie villains look like the actors playing them. Loki is Tom Hiddleston in a costume. Killmonger is Michael B. Jordan with dreadlocks. They're beloved because they're relatable, and although we may hate their goals the actors embodying them frequently convey sympathetic motives. They're dangerous in part because they have some (arguably) likable traits.
The truly scary threats, however, look solidly inhuman. Aliens, monsters, gods, robots, the occasional mutant ... we cannot relate directly to such overpowered beings when it's so very unlikely they can be persuaded not to crush us. Yet behind all these frightening threats, there is a real human being. In some cases, it's one you may not believe you didn't recognize before. Let's take a look at what the actual actors behind so many intimidating creatures look like when they're just being themselves. Here are what the scariest MCU villains look like in real life.

The following contains The Flash spoilers
The Flash Season 8 Episode 7
To what will likely be the surprise of many, The Flash is still keeping things remarkably low-key in its second episode back from its lengthy post-Armageddon hiatus. “Lockdown” is clearly another of what showrunner Eric Wallace likes to refer to as “interlude” episodes, or more standalone stories that aren’t clearly part of the larger, more interconnected “graphic novel” arcs. And you know what? The surprisingly low-stakes hour feels exactly like what The Flash needs more of these days. A fun, simple adventure with an entertaining villain and some character-based subplots on top? We can absolutely do this for the rest of the season.
We won’t, of course, given that the outstanding mystery of Iris’s time sickness still needs solving, particularly since she seems to be either losing or somehow changing time without realizing it. And I...

It’s feeling like Central City is about to get its own version of the Batman-Detective Gordon duo. In this exclusive clip from the March 16 episode of The Flash, “Lockdown,” Barry (Grant Gustin) and Captain Kramer (Carmen Moore) discuss the Flash’s seven-year relationship with the Ccpd. And while it’s clearly helped the city, things could be better. In fact, Kramer sees a future where “together, we could help it more…humans and meta-humans, alike.” If only the Scarlet Speedster would work more closely with her on cases instead of just dumping baddies on her precinct’s doorstep and running off. Hmm…a partnership, perhaps? Bettina Strauss/The CW Unfortunately, their convo is rudely interrupted by the smokey arrival—or shall we say return— of this week’s villain, Goldface (Damion Poitier). And it’s not exactly a total gas. The arms dealer we first met in Season 5’s...

Josh Brolin has revealed the thing that cinched the deal when he was first offered the part of Thanos in the McU.
In hindsight, taking on the gig was a great move, as the Mad Titan turned out to be the biggest, baddest foe in the whole franchise and is set to go down as one of the all-time best movie villains. At first, though, Brolin didn’t know what was in store for him in the Marvel universe, so he only agreed to sign on for the role for one reason: the promise that he’d get to fight All the Avengers, not just one.
The Endgame star recently spoke to acclaimed cinematographer Roger Deakins and his wife on their Team Deakins podcast and explained that he had turned down a few comic book films before Thanos came up. Given that his first appearance was a brief cameo in 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy,...

We can all agree that the heroes of the McU are perfectly cast, but the process of finding the right person to embody each of these iconic Marvel characters could’ve easily led to different outcomes. Or actually, maybe it isn’t, thanks to this epic alternate poster for Avengers: Endgame which showcases those actors who were nearly in the McU.

Even before Josh Brolin landed the role of Thanos for 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy, the Mad Titan made his McU debut in the mid-credits scene of 2012’s The Avengers, played by Damion Poitier.
In the years since, the character has undergone some major design changes, but if you’d like a better idea of the Infinity Saga’s main villain could’ve looked, then you may want to check out this newly shared concept art from the Instagram of Ironhead Studio.
As you can see, the purple tyrant is looking a little less beefy than he would go on to be in later Avengers movies. His helmet also seems a fair bit different from what we eventually got, and his eyes certainly didn’t look that way for his first lead villain appearance in Avengers: Infinity War.

Sure, there was Loki, but the majority of miscreants in the first two phases of the franchise failed to leave much of an impression. Thanos has been knocking around in the shadows of the Marvel Cinematic Universe for what feels like forever, but the Mad Titan will soon make himself known in Avengers: Infinity War, as he takes on Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in his quest to claim all six Infinity Stones. And, if we’re reading some new comments from actor Josh Brolin correctly, this could be the villain’s final stand, too.
In the same interview in which he confirmed he has plans to star in four films as Cable for Fox, Brolin opened up about how he can fit in his appearances in the X-Men universe alongside his ongoing commitment to the McU. In fact, the star revealed that it might not be a problem in the end, as playing Thanos is apparently “a finite thing.”

It’s been over four years since the big bad Thanos made his cinematic debut during the mid-credits scene of The Avengers. And while he was initially brought to life with a mixture of CGI and practical makeup effects on actor Damion Poitier, the villain’s next appearances were fully CGI with actor Josh Brolin providing his voice and motion-capture performance. Which might explain why the mad titan appeared a bit less photo-real during his short but sweet cameos in Guardians of the Galaxy and the Avengers: Age of Ultron mid-credits tag. Considering Thanos will be towering over the majority of Earth’s mightiest heroes when he makes a full-fledged return in the two-part (tentatively titled) Avengers: Infinity War films, no one’s saying Marvel and the Russos should ditch CGI for him altogether; that’d be crazy! However, the folks at Ironhead Studios, who created his gold/purple armor...

It is possible that Avengers: Infinity War will present the culmination of what might be the most teased-out role in the history of cinema. Thanos has been presented as being the ‘Biggest Bad’ in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since 2012, when he made a brief appearance during the credit sequence of The Avengers. Here, he was played by Damion Poitier, and it was not until Guardians Of The Galaxy in 2014 that Josh Brolin assumed the supervillain mantle.
His part in Guardians Of The Galaxy was relatively small, however, though his presence loomed over proceedings like an unshifting shadow. Popping up once more during the credit sequence of Avengers: Age Of Ultron in 2015, we were teased again – making us familiar with his visage and omnipotence, but never really getting to know him. Josh Brolin has teased the future of Thanos in Marvel Studios films.
The actor - who made his debut as the villain in Guardians of the Galaxy - opened up about the character's one true love and revealed that he knows when his next appearance will be.
"His relationship with Death, who is actually the woman, I love that," Brolin told IGN about Thanos's obsession with the Marvel Universe's embodiment of death.
"You can take Sin City and pump it full of steroids, and then you have Thanos. I like that he's motivated by that - not just motivated by destruction or death or this or that. He's motivated by a very identifiable, human trait."
Brolin also revealed that he was in line for at least two more appearances as the so-called Mad Titan.
"I know what one appearance is going to be for sure," he said. "There's one or two that I don't know.

Said Damion on his initial discussions with Marvel about continuing in the role, " Initially, they just hired me as a facial figure. In terms of moving forward, I knew that was a question of what happened in between I got it and the next time they would need it. Unfortunately, we didn’t get the exposure we wanted in the interim, but it’s all good. We got good exposure from that scene and we’ll keep moving from there." So does Damion feel any resentment towards Marvel after they turned to Brolin to officially play the role and Guardians of the Galaxy...

Despite Josh Brolin taking over as Thanos in this summers's Guardians of the Galaxy as well as in 2015's Avengers: Age of Ultron, Damion Poitier will still be known as the actor to first play Thanos in the amazing and now-iconic post-credits in Marvel's The Avengers. While he didn't get to talk about the 'Men In Black 3' star taking over as the Mad Titan, he did get to reminisce about his time working with Joss Whedon on the movie. He talked about what it was like when he found out he would be Thanos. "I found out when I was in the makeup chair what I was doing," he revealed. "They kept it super quiet because they didn't wanna put any spoilers out. So they kept it super quiet what I was doing, and I didn't found out until they were casting my face to do the sculpt.

The folks over at Latino Review have bagged another hot Marvel scoop, and it finally uncovers the big mystery surrounding who exactly will play the big and bad Thanos in Guardians of the Galaxy. "Our sources tell us that person is Josh Brolin," reveals the Latino site. Considering the upcoming Marvel space epic is in post-production, Brolin is expected to only provide the voice of the "machiavellian" character as opposed to wearing prosthetics or CG markers. However, given the Oscar-nominated actor's celebrity, and the purple supervillain's 2012 debut in The Avengers (played by Damion Poitier), as well as the fact that Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn has said many times that his film is definitely connected to The Avengers 3, expect Brolin to actually portray Thanos against Earth's Mightiest Heroes... eventually. That is of course after they take on James Spader in Avengers: Age of Ultron, in which Variety reports...

There's one major Marvel Character in Guardians of the Galaxy that hasn't even been teased in any of the official trailers or stills, and that's Thanos, the big bad guy of the Marvel films.
Thanos made his first appearance onscreen (played by Damion Poitier) at the end of The Avengers, giving an insidious smile when told that attacking Earth is courting death. Or "Death," with a capital D, as the comic book Titan is in love with the physical embodiment of Death.
Thanos is a member of The Eternals, a group of god-like beings with immense power, far beyond that of humans. Thanos is referred to as the “Mad Titan” in the comics for attempting to wipe out the entire human race with his Infinity Gauntlet, capable of manipulating, time, space, reality and even the human soul.
We don't know how big Thanos' plan is, but we know from Thor: The Dark World...

To say that we’re looking forward to James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy would be a massive understatement.
As the only original entry in Phase Two of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it arguably has the most to gain/lose at this stage in the studio’s illustrious career, and everyone’s betting big that it’s going to be one of the best movies of the summer blockbuster season. And if they’re not, they should be.
Gunn has a proven track record of bringing the weird and wonderful to light with a unique vision (see Slither and Super), and with characters like Rocket Racoon and Groot, the latter a tree that appears to only repeat ‘I am Groot’ when it talks, you need a visionary filmmaker like that to do it justice.
Up until The Avengers, the McU was grounded in reality. Albeit a reality with superheroes and demigods from different realms,...

In a new interview, Marvel head Kevin Feige spoke about Thanos and whether there have been discussions about killing major characters in the studio's cinematic universe. Thanos appeared in a post-credits sequence in "The Avengers" and was played by Damion Poitier. Soon after, Marvel revealed that Poitier will not return and that Thanos will be played by a well-known actor in future movies. The plan now is for Thanos to make a brief appearance in "Guardians of the Galaxy" and "Avengers: Age of Ultron." He will then be the main villain in "Avengers 3." And according to Feige, an actor has already been hired to play the role. "There is an actor," he said. "I'm not sure we want to announce it yet." Feige went on to speak about killing off major characters. "We take our cues from the comics and everyone knows that in comics and soap operas, people die and come back.

Catching up with Guardians of the Galaxy writer-director James Gunn on the red carpet at Marvel Studios' Thor: The Dark World premiere, CraveOnline managed to score a few quotes about the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. "Thanos is a character in our movie," says Gunn regarding the big bad teased at the end of Marvel's The Avengers . "...He works with Ronan. In my movie Ronan works for Thanos, and Ronan is the main bad guy in our film." Ronan is set to be played by Lee Pace, although an actor for Thanos has not yet been named. Damion Poitier played the part in the post- Avengers tease under heavy prostheses. As was Thanos in that sequence, Guardians of the Galaxy promises quite a lot of practical effects. "We have a...

James Gunn's "Guardians of the Galaxy" is shaping up to be one hell of a movie. Yesterday, it was announced that Benicio Del Toro will be joining the already star-studded cast of "Guardians" in an as-of-yet unknown lead role with a multiple-film deal. This, of course, comes just days after the announcement of Glenn Close joining the film as the leader of the Nova Corps, as well as the possibility of John C. Reilly's involvement.
With Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, and Zoe Saldana already cast as Star-Lord, Drax the Destroyer, and Gamora respectively, only two available slots remain on the "Guardians" roster: Groot (the walking tree) and Rocket Raccoon (the talking raccoon). Judging by the Del Toro's multi-film deal, it's pretty obvious that his talents would be wasted on either of these voice-only characters. So who exactly is Del Toro playing? We've made a few guesses.

Hey "Guardians of the Galaxy," you have to leave some of the incredibly talented actors for other movies. You can't have them all!
Or maybe "Guardians" can have them all. After snatching up Glenn Close and Karen Gillan (and possibly John C. Reilly), Deadline has reported that Academy Award winner Benicio Del Toro has joined the cast in an unnamed, but super big, role.
Exactly who Del Toro is playing remains a mystery, but Deadline says that he's playing "a character that is built to be part of future Marvel films." That sounds pretty big, and if this character factors into future Marvel movies, then he has to be playing Thanos... right?
Thanos was originally played by actor and Damion Poitier in "Marvel's the Avengers," but that was a brief, non-speaking cameo. Kevin Feige has already stated that Marvel Studios feels "pretty free to recast" since Poitier...

Former professional wrestler Dave Bautista has been officially cast as Drax the Destroyer in Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy movie.
The six-time WWE World Champion and star of last year’s The Man with the Iron Fists directed by the RZA, is the second confirmed cast member after Chris Pratt who will play Star Lord aka Peter Quill, the leader of the Guardians.
In the comics, Drax was originally a human called Arthur Douglas who was killed along with his entire family by the Mad Titan, Thanos (seen briefly at the end of “The Avengers” movie). Arthur’s soul was saved by Kronos, a cosmic entity and one of the Eternals of Earth, and put into a powerful new (and green!) body to kill Thanos. Actor Damion Poitier is rumoured to join the cast as Thanos.
Filming begins this summer at Shepperton Studios so the remaining cast are likely to be announced soon.

Damion Poitier's roles keep getting bigger and bigger. With guest roles on Parks and Recreation, True Blood and Sons of Anarchy his career is definitely trending upward. Add to that an end-credits scene in Joss Whedon's mega-smash Avengers movie as the string-pulling Thanos and you have to think its just a matter of time before he lands his breakout starring role. We discussed all these possibilities in the interview below including the chances of working with Joss again on the S.H.I.E.L.D. television show and returning in future Marvel films. Mark Julian: You've appeared on Firefly, Angel and Dollhouse prior to The Avengers. What's your relationship like with Joss Whedon? Damion Poitier: I love Joss. But now that he film has been released on DVD and Blu-ray, we have a look at some concept art and make-up that went into making that scene happen. Check out the images below. When the character line-up includes a talking tree and a gun-toting raccoon, it's easy to see why Marvel's decision to make a Guardians of the Galaxy film has generated quizzical looks and raised eyebrows.
But James Gunn, the man tasked with making all that into a successful blockbuster, says there's nothing to worry about.
In a recent Facebook post confirming his involvement with the project, Gunn said: "I got the go-ahead from [Marvel Studios president] Kevin Feige to let you all know that, yes, indeed, I am rewriting and directing Guardians of the Galaxy.
"As a lifelong lover of Marvel comics, space epics, And raccoons, this is the movie I've been waiting to make since I was nine years old.

Mad Titan abound these days as people are finally picking up what we laid down three months ago. But that’s cool, guys, that’s cool. We at least know for sure now that James Gunn is re-writing something to do with the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ and Thanos.
At this point, I’m surprised we’ve heard from Marvel’s Kevin Feige before we’ve heard from “loose lips put butts in seats” Whedon, but so it passes.
Feige to MTV on Thanos:
“There’s a great track record now about lobbing something in at the last moment to get the audience buzzing. Particularly when it came to Thanos, [we knew] that most people in that audience had no idea who that purple guy was — but they could clearly tell he was important, and knew if they asked the two or three people sitting next to them, somebody would know who he was.

Earlier this month, Jim Starlin, the comic book writer who created the villainous Thanos, revealed that Marvel is planning to make the character the centerpiece of "Guardians of the Galaxy" and then use him in "The Avengers" sequel. MTV has now caught up with Marvel head Kevin Feige for a confirmation. "Clearly, there's a purpose to us putting him in the end of ['The Avengers']," he hinted. "We do have plans for him. I wouldn't say we ever feel the need to rush anything one way or the other." Feige was then asked if Damion Poitier, who played Thanos in the post-credits scene in "The Avengers," will be recast. "I think we feel pretty free to recast," he explained. "That was cast for literally that one shot. Depending on what the role requires from future movies, we'll go from there."...

With six Avengers, three S.H.I.E.L.D. agents and one hell of a super-villain standing front and center throughout the 143-minute runtime of "Marvel's The Avengers," it's somewhat remarkable that the character most people left theaters talking about was Thanos, the purple-skinned menace glimpsed ever-so-briefly in the middle of the film's credits. But Thanos' sudden rise to infamy didn't shock the folks at Marvel Studios one bit.

Comic Book Therapy caught up with comic book writer Jim Starlin, who created the villainous Thanos, to ask him for his opinion on the character appearance in "The Avengers." Starlin ended up revealing a few interesting bits of information. "This past week the head of the Marvel studios said that Thanos was going to be the centerpiece of the ['Guardians of the Galaxy'] movie and going into 'Avengers 2,'" he explained. "I had thought about Idris Elba [voicing Thanos]. There were rumors going around that Arnold Schwarzenegger was going to be tapped for it." It was recently revealed that Damion Poitier appeared as Thanos in "The Avengers." But it's unlikely that the actor will return to play the character in upcoming movies.

According to the good folks at ComicBookMovie.com, Marvel head Kevin Feige all-but confirmed that Thanos - seen in the end credits of The Avengers - will be a part of the Guardians of the Galaxy film that is currently in development. So far, Marvel Studios’ films have mostly had solid villains. The greatest of them is clearly Loki (Tom Hiddleston), who was the antagonist in Thor and this summer's The Avengers (he will also return for next year's Thor: The Dark World). Red Skull (Hugo Weaving, Captain America: The First Avenger) and Hydra, Iron Monger (Jeff Bridges, Iron Man), Abomination (Tim Roth, The Incredible Hulk), Whiplash (Mickey Rourke, Iron Man 2), Justin Hammer (Sam Rockwell, Iron Man 2), Frost Giants (Thor), and even Thanos (Damion Poitier, The Avengers) have all made appearances in the McU. Future villains include Iron Man 3's Mandarin (Ben Kingsley) and Aldrich Killian (Guy Pearce), as well as Thor: The Dark World's Malekith The Accursed (Christopher Eccleston). Of course, there are many great Marvel villains that need to have their turn on the big screen. Below, I listed nine villains (technically ten) who I would...

No, this isn’t a remake of the Fred Williamson B-movie masterpiece “Black Cobra”, but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. After all, directors Scott Donovan and Lilly Melgar’s upcoming martial arts flick has an action-packed vibe of its own, and it certainly doesn’t skimp on the ass-kicking. Watching the film’s talented cast of stuntmen and martial artists beat the crap out of people for 90 minutes sounds like a fantastic way to spend an evening to me. I foresee a synopsis in your near future: One man travels across country, smuggling illegal black diamonds to sell in order to pay for his father’s pardon in South Africa. When he arrives to the United States to finalize what appeared to be a simple transaction he is soon double-crossed and becomes caught up in a contraband forcing him to overcome an opponent far more lethal and deadlier than he has every met.

It’s called Hunter Prey, a sci-fi thriller directed by Sandy Collora, and stars a few black faces you probably won’t recognize underneath all that make-up, as shown in the trailer below – Isaac C. Singleton Jr. and Damion Poitier notably (their pictures at the bottom of this post).
Synopsis: The Prometheus has dropped out of orbit. Communications and life support systems are down. Situation Critical: Status of Crew and Prisoner unknown. With orders to catch their Alien Prisoner alive the surviving crew of the spaceship Prometheus pursue a dangerous game of cat-and-mouse with their escaped prisoner on a deserted and barren planet. But, who is the hunter and who is its prey?
A release date of December 7th is given… likely DVD/VOD.
