Even though hardcore Addams Family fans had very low expectations before the show's release, Netflix's Wednesday turned out to be a quality show, being a hilarious horror comedy with enough satire, drama and, needless to say, the supernatural.
And soon, the second season will start its active production phase, so the streaming service is rushing to please us with some intriguing details. So, a year after the renewal, during Tudum in January 2024, it was officially revealed that in addition to Jenna Ortega, the second season will star Emma Myers, Joy Sunday and none other than Hunter Doohan, who appeared in the first season as Tyler Galpin, the son of the local sheriff, the romantic interest of Wednesday and ultimately a threat to Nevermore and all of Jericho, being a dangerous monster Hyde.

The upcoming MCU project, ‘Daredevil: Born Again,’ is stirring up a lot of buzz. Fans are eagerly anticipating it, but its production has faced its share of challenges, including strikes and clashes over creative direction between the showrunners and the studio.
Details about the plot are sparse, but we know that Daredevil will be embarking on a new journey, setting up a law practice while trying to redefine himself. Meanwhile, Kingpin, one of his archenemies, is vying for the position of mayor in New York, a plot point teased in the post-credits scenes of ‘Echo.’
Vincent D’Onofrio will be returning, but he might not be the main antagonist this time around. Rumors suggest that Muse, a villain from Marvel Comics—a twisted serial killer who turns his victims into gruesome art—will take on that role. Muse’s true identity and powers remain shrouded in mystery, but his unyielding ego...

‘Daredevil: Born Again’ is one of the most talked-about upcoming MCU projects, partly due to the fan-fueled hype and partly due to its turbulent production that’s been plagued with everything from SAG-AFTRA strike to creative differences in what the showrunners wanted and what the studio wanted.
Not much is known about the overall plot except for the fact that Daredevil will be starting a new law practice as he is trying to re-invent himself, with Kingpin, one of his greatest enemies running for mayor of New York, something that was foreshadowed in the post-credits scenes of ‘Echo.’
While it is certain that D’Onforio will make a return, he seemingly won’t be the primary villain of the show’s first season as it’s been heavily rumored for at least a couple of months that this honor will go to Muse. Muse is a villain in Marvel Comics...

Season 2 of the hit Netflix Addams Family series Wednesday is expected to start filming in Ireland (season 1 was shot in Romania) sometime in late April, and during an interview with Vanity Fair the show’s star Jenna Ortega confirmed that she is about to get ready to return to the world of Wednesday Addams, revealing that she has been reading the season scripts recently – and promising that every episode of the new season will have something that will make it stand out and be memorable.
Vanity Fair asked Ortega about a previous quote where she said Wednesday season 2 will be more episodic, with each episode coming off like a standalone movie, and that it would lean further into horror. She responded, “I’ve just been reading scripts. By the time we actually start shooting, it will have been over two years since we wrapped. So internally, mentally, I’m like,...

Jenna Ortega is teasing a more terrifying Season 2 of “Wednesday.”
The Netflix series, which landed Ortega her first Emmy nomination, will begin filming in April. Ortega told E! News at the 2023 Emmys on Monday, January 15, that the new scripts lean more into the horror elements of the Tim Burton series. Ortega is also serving as an executive producer for the second season.
“I’ve received some scripts for the second season, and we’re definitely leaning into more horror,” Ortega said. “It’s really, really exciting because, all throughout the show, while Wednesday does need a little bit of an arc, she never really changes, and that’s the wonderful thing about her.
Ortega continued, “There’s really, really good one-liners, and I think everything’s bigger. It’s a lot more action-packed. Each episode will probably feel a little bit more like a movie, which is nice.”

When the writers strike ended near the start of October, we heard that the top priorities at the Netflix streaming service were to get the scripts for Stranger Things season 5 (the final season of that show) and Wednesday season 2 finished. Stranger Things season 5 is expected to go into production any day now, and Deadline reports that Wednesday season 2 is expected to start filming in late April. When this season goes into production, the cast and crew will be reporting to set in an entirely different country than they worked in during the first season. While season 1 was filmed in Romania, season 2 is moving to Ireland.
The Wednesday sets standing in Romania have become a major tourist attraction, but according to Deadline the decision to film the second season in a different country stems from “logistical challenges” the crew ran into while working in Romania.

It will be a minute before season 2 of “Wednesday” will be ready to be devoured by fans. But Jenna Ortega and her co-stars offered an early tease of what’s — or rather, who’s — to come in the Netflix series, which follows the titular (anti-)heroine as she enrolls in Nevermore Academy, a school for troubled outcasts, and investigates a murder mystery.
As part of Netflix’s Tudum fan event in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on Saturday, “Wednesday”‘s Emma Myers, who plays Wednesday’s roommate, Enid Sinclair, shared in a special video that season 2 “was being worked on right now and the storyline is so top secret even we don’t know what’s going to happen.”
But one thing they could tease: Viewers will be introduced to a new member of the Addams family.

The cast confirmed the news that viewers would get to see more of Wednesday’s family but did not reveal who it would be. Ortega said she “would love to see Cousin Itt” while the other cast members said they wanted to see Grandma Addams.

Jenna Ortega is taking the world by storm after dazzling generations of Addams Family fans with Tim Burton’s Wednesday and going a second round with Ghostface for Scream VI. During a recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Ortega confirmed the writers for Wednesday are busy penning the sophomore season of Netflix’s Gothic drama. Additionally, Ortega has some ideas about Wednesday Season 2 regarding the show’s approach to horror and romance.
“We just started the writers room. I think we want to up the horror aspect a little bit and then get Wednesday out of the romantic situation, let her be her own individual and fight her own crimes,” Ortega told a giddy Fallon and his audience.
For me, Wednesday is a 10/10 series. However, I welcome the opportunity for more horror in the upcoming season. The romance between Wednesday, Tyler Galpin, and Xavier Thorpe is critical to the first season.

Jenna Ortega, star of Netflix’s hit Addams Family series Wednesday, has previously said she had to struggle with directors on the show who didn’t always trust the approach she was taking to the character. Starting with Tim Burton, who directed half of the show’s first season and didn’t want Ortega to show any expression or emotion at all. Something she didn’t feel would work for a lead character who had to push the plot forward. Now in an interview with Variety, Ortega revealed that she also had to change lines from the scripts because they weren’t true to her character.
Ortega said, “I don’t think I’ve ever had to put my foot down more on a set in a way that I had to on Wednesday. Everyhing that Wednesday does, everything I had to play, did not make sense for her character at all.

Netflix has officially confirmed Wednesday will return for season two. The announcement was accompanied by a one-minute video in which Wednesday (Jenna Ortega) says thanks for being put through pure torture. (We all know how much Wednesday loves that!).
The video points out that over the course of a few weeks, she was hunted, haunted, and mimicked across the internet. Wednesday’s loving it and so are viewers who’ve made the series the second most popular show ever on Netflix.
“It’s been incredible to create a show that has connected with people across the world. Thrilled to continue Wednesday’s tortuous journey into season two. We can’t wait to dive headfirst into another season and explore the kooky spooky world of Nevermore. Just need to make sure Wednesday hasn’t emptied the pool first,” said creators, showrunners, and executive producers Alfred Gough and Miles Millar in a feature on Tudum.

Jenna Ortega has inspired a new TikTok trend thanks to her epic dance scene in Netflix’s record-breaking new series “Wednesday”.
Since episode four of the “Addams Family” spin-off series, Ortega has become a viral dancing queen, prompting thousands of fans, including Lady Gaga and Kim Kardashian and her daughter North, to re-create her titular character Wednesday Addams’ intense dance number on the popular app. Now, the actress is sharing details on how the viral dance came to be.
“Initially, they wanted a flash mob, but I thought, no, there’s no way Wednesday would be cool with dancing and encouraging a bunch of people,” the 20-year-old star told Jimmy Fallon on Friday’s episode of “The Tonight Show”. “The director, Tim Burton, and I talked about it a little bit, and he said, ‘Yeah, let’s not do a circle. The Addams Family series Wednesday has turned out to be a massive hit for the Netflix streaming service – in fact, in less than a month of release, it has already become Netflix’s second-most popular English-language series of all time. So there seems to be almost no question that we’re going to be getting Wednesday season 2… Netflix just hasn’t officially ordered it yet. And while speaking to Variety about the show’s success, Netflix executive Peter Friedlander (the service’s head of U.S. and Canada scripted series) still couldn’t confirm if or when that new season order is going to be made.
Friedlander told Variety, “I have nothing to confirm at this time. I am optimistic about Wednesday. We’ll leave it at that. Weirdly, because it feels different, but we’re just two weeks into the launch of Wednesday. So we’re still really at...

"Wednesday" is Netflix's latest hit series. The show, which premiered on Nov. 23, is now the streaming platform's most watched English-language series in a week, per Forbes. The fourth season of "Stranger Things" previously held the title, which goes to show just how much fans are loving this new iteration of Wednesday Addams, played by Jenna Ortega. In this version, Wednesday is a teenager who's honing in her psychic abilities at Nevermore Academy. There, we meet an interesting set of characters, including Wednesday's handsome love interest, Tyler Galpin.
Arkansas-born actor Hunter Doohan portrays Tyler. You may recognize Hunter from other series like "Your Honor," "Truth Be Told," "Schooled," and more. While the star has a number of acting credits to his name, his role as Tyler is stealing everyone's hearts. Fans can't get over his character's crush on Wednesday and wonder whether the two will eventually become a couple, especially...

Netflix's much-anticipated original series "Wednesday" came out over the Thanksgiving weekend, adding a touch of horror to the festive season. This coming-of-age show follows the titular character, Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega), during her first term at Nevermore Academy, a school for Outcasts, young adults who are mythical beings like sirens and werewolves or possess magical abilities.
Wednesday begins to uncover her own psychic abilities as the school's town of Jericho deals with vicious attacks from a mysterious monster. Not one to shy away from spookiness, Wednesday becomes immediately intrigued by investigating the beast terrorizing townies and students at Nevermore. But who, or what, is the monster in Wednesday?
Who Is The Hyde Monster in "Wednesday"?
Wednesday believes the monster terrorizing the town is Xavier Thorpe (Percy Hynes White), an artist and psychic student at Nevermore who immediately takes a liking to Wednesday. Xavier has the unique gift of bringing his drawings to life.

This article contains spoilers for Wednesday.
On Wednesday, Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega) sets out to distinguish herself from The Addams Family, and extinguish anything standing in the way. Tim Burton’s take on Charles Addams’ perennially ooky characters is unique. They don’t refract the broken mirrors of regular people. Wednesday neuters that possibility in the opening sequence, and is tossed off into a very alternative school, filled with cryptic coeds. The outcast among outcasts spends the semester trying to solve the mystery of the Hyde.
Created for the mythology of the series, the Hyde is enigmatic, symptomatic, and symbolic. Nevermore Academy’s founder, Nathaniel Faulkner, cataloged all the outcast communities of the world which would be welcome at the school, and contains a chapter on the Hyde. According to the diaries, Hydes are “artists by nature, but equally vindictive in temperament.” That could describe Nevermore’s most famous graduate,...

Wednesday is shaping up to be one of Netflix's biggest hits.
The streaming service announced this week that the Jenna Ortega-led series amassed 341.23 million hours viewed in its first week of availability.
The numbers mark the most hours viewed in a week for an English-language TV series on the service, besting Stranger Things Season 4.
Stranger Things returned after a multi-year hiatus, with 335.01 million hours viewed in its first week on the air.
However, given that Stranger Things premiered on a Friday, its total tally included three days of numbers compared to the five days for Wednesday due to its Friday premiere.
It is nice that Netflix is giving numbers because many other streaming services keep the numbers hidden.
It would be great if there was a fairer way of measuring success, but Wednesday could be in line for a bigger-than-expected drop in its second week.
The numbers are huge for the streaming service.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Wednesday Season 1, Episodes 1-8.] Wednesday may have centered around the titular Addams Family daughter played by Jenna Ortega, but much of the series followed her efforts to uncover the story behind a string of mysterious deaths in the local town where her new school Nevermore Academy resides. Almost as soon as Wednesday arrived, she began investigating while also falling into an unexpected romance with a coffee shop worker and believed normie, Tyler Galpin (Hunter Doohan), the son of Jericho’s small-town Sheriff. But over time, the pieces begin falling into place as the crimes start overlapping with Tyler’s presence, and Wednesday has a vision involving the young man. Is there anything Jenna Ortega can’t do? In the new Netflix series, “Wednesday,” Ortega takes on the role of Wednesday Addams, and as part of her prep process, she had to learn how to play the cello. She also took on the role of a choreographer to execute one of the series’ most memorable moments.
Episode four, titled “Woe What a Night,” sees the students of Nevermore Academy, the school for outcasts, attend the Rave’N dance. Wednesday reluctantly attends with Tyler Galpin (Hunter Doohan). As The Cramps’ “Goo Goo Muck” plays, Wednesday takes to the dance floor and throws out her kookiest of moves.
In a recent behind-the-scenes video, Ortega and her fellow castmates watch the scene, and she reveals, “I actually felt really insecure about this. I choreographed that myself and I think it’s very obvious that I’m not a dancer or choreographer.”

Review: Back in 1991, Tim Burton reluctantly passed on directing The Addams Family due to production on Batman Returns. Barry Sonnenfeld took the reins which led to the film becoming a financial success for Orion Pictures. Despite multiple lackluster live-action sequels, Burton was once again linked to a 2010 stop-motion animated reboot for Universal and Illumination Entertainment. MGM eventually delivered two CGI features which garnered mixed to negative reviews. Now, Tim Burton finally gets to lend his signature style to The Addams Family with Wednesday, a dark series centered on the eldest Addams daughter.

Tim Burton’s take on the Addams Family, Wednesday is set to follow a teenage Wednesday Addams as she attends Nevermore Academy, a school for teens with supernatural abilities and other societal outcasts. Wednesday has to learn how to navigate the perils of high school while also trying to solve a decades-long mystery that began during her parents’ days at the academy. As much as she wants to escape the shadow of her family’s history, she learns that that might not be an easy task.
While the focus of the series is on Wednesday and her story, the rest of the Addams family do make a few appearances this season. Here are the actors playing the legendary family, as well as the other supernatural and “normal” people that make up Nevermore and the small town of Jericho.

The Addams Family is iconic. Created by Chas Addams, the single panel cartoons debuted in 1938 in The New Yorker magazine. Director Tim Burton is an obvious fanboy, eager to put his unique spin on the family dynamic. The Netflix series Wednesday is an original spinoff. Jenna Ortega plays Wednesday Addams without much family support, the way the character prefers it.
The series opens with the traditional dysfunctional unity. Wednesday protects Pugsley (Isaac Ordonez) from bullies because only she is allowed to torture her brother. Her ghastly genius sets the tone immediately. Swimming with piranhas in a school pool is all fun and games until someone loses a testicle. Then it’s a one-way ticket to Nevermore Academy, a place which encourages artful dodgers.

Netflix’s “Wednesday” singles out the most morose member of the altogether ooky Addams Family to give its eponymous character a coming-of-age story centered around a murder mystery. Despite a compelling portrayal of the macabre teen by Jenna Ortega, a whodunnit with sharp teeth, and executive producer Tim Burton helming half of the episodes, “Wednesday” never gets mysterious or spooky enough to reinvigorate the YA formula.
