Jonathan Majors has lost another role in the wake of his recent assault conviction. The actor had been slated to star as Dennis Rodman in 48 Hours In Vegas, but multiple sources have heard that Jonathan Majors has been dropped from the movie.

Jonathan Majors is getting ready to star as Dennis Rodman in “48 Hours in Vegas,” Lionsgate’s upcoming film about the former Chicago Bulls player’s infamous weekend trip to Sin City in the middle of the 1998 NBA Finals against the Utah Jazz.
Majors, who stars in the new Korean War drama “Devotion,” says he hasn’t talked to Rodman yet. “It’s on my list,” he told me at the Governors Awards. “I know where he’s at and I think he’s open-hearted and wants to collaborate. I want to do justice by him.”
Two years before the story in the film takes place, Rodman created quite a stir when he showed up at a book signing in New York City for his memoir, “Bad As I Wanna Be,” in full white wedding-dress drag. I asked Majors if there’s a...

Jonathan Majors is in early talks to play Dennis Rodman in the upcoming Lionsgate movie “48 Hours in Vegas” about the basketball star’s infamous trip during the 1998 NBA finals.
News broke last August that the vacation that would become sports legend was set to be adapted into a film from Lionsgate and Lord Miller. “48 Hours in Vegas” will chronicle the journey after Rodman, then a star player for the Chicago Bulls, asked his coach Phil Jackson if he could take a 48-hour trip to Las Vegas in the middle of the 1998 NBA Finals against the Utah Jazz.
While Rodman and his Bulls superstar teammate Michael Jordan recently revisited these events in the ESPN docuseries “The Last Dance,” the new movie is said to paint its own picture of the “madcap adventure” that ensued as Rodman and a skittish assistant Gm developed a surprising new friendship.

Fresh off the first-ever Netflix is a Joke comedy festival, the streamer confirmed which performances will be available to view in the coming weeks, including tributes to late comedians such as Bob Saget and Robin Williams and the yet-to-be-announced date for Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias’s groundbreaking set at Dodger Stadium.
Featuring a wide range of events and stars, the festival also made headlines for some of its comedians’ jokes, such as Pete Davidson’s digs at Kanye West. But the biggest news of the fest was when Dave Chappelle was tackled on stage during his set at the Hollywood Bowl, with the attacker being charged with four misdemeanor counts. For its part, Netflix responded by saying, “We care deeply about the safety of creators and we strongly defend the right of stand-up comedians to perform on stage without fear of violence.” Chappelle’s four sold-out shows are not included in...

One of the highlights of last year’s Chicago Bulls docuseries “The Last Dance” was Dennis Rodman’s wild trip to Las Vegas during the 1998 NBA Finals, and now that trip will be turned into a film by Lionsgate called “48 Hours In Vegas.”
Rodman will serve as an executive producer on the film with “Animaniacs” writer Jordan Vandina penning the script and Phil Lord, Chris Miller, and Aditya Sood producing through Lord Miller. Ari Lubet and Will Allegra will also serve as executive producers.
Rodman’s vacation was the subject of a cliffhanger ending during episode 3 of “The Last Dance.” Rodman, who had taken on more responsibility on the team while Scottie Pippen was out with an injury during the 1998 NBA season, was pushed to the brink of burnout, leading to a meeting between him, Michael Jordan and head coach Phil Jackson.

Dennis Rodman’s Infamous ‘48 Hours in Vegas’ to Get Feature Treatment From Lord Miller for Lionsgate
Dennis Rodman’s infamous 48-hour bender in Las Vegas during the 1998 NBA Finals is set to become a feature film from Lionsgate and Lord Miller.
Rodman, then a star player for the Chicago Bulls, asked his coach Phil Jackson if he could take a 48-hour vacation in Las Vegas in the middle of the NBA Finals against the Utah Jazz. Even though the Bulls were on the cusp of their second three-peat championship in eight years, Jackson consented, and a sports legend was born. While Rodman and his teammate Michael Jordan detailed these events in the ESPN docuseries “The Last Dance,” the movie will take its own path with the story.
“48 Hours in Vegas” will follow Rodman on his journey, as the player and his anxious assistant Gm develop an unexpected friendship amid the player’s Sin City revelry.

Paramount+ is getting its own version of “American Vandal” from the “American Vandal” creators.
The ViacomCBS streaming service has ordered “Players” from Tony Yacenda and Dan Perrault, the duo behind the Netflix docuseries-style scripted comedy. “Players” follows a fictional pro League of Legends esports team, as they pursue their first championship after years of close calls and heartache. The first season, which aired in September 2017, focused on an investigation into who drew penises on 27 cars in the parking lot at a Southern California high school. Jimmy Tatro (“Home Economics”) played Dylan Maxwell, who was accused of spray painting the genitalia at the beginning of the series. Since its November 1 launch, Apple’s new streaming platform Apple TV+ has provoked conversation around new shows “Dickinson,” “The Morning Show,” and “See.” Now, it’s gearing up to launch its original film slate, which began with documentary “The Elephant Queen” and will continue with “Hala.”
Apple bought rights to the film following its buzzy Sundance Film Festival premiere earlier this year, where it earned critical praise for its sensitive coming-of-age tale and strong lead performance. “Hala” is a semi-autobiographical offering from Minhal Baig, a writer on hit TV series “Bojack Horseman” and “Ramy.”
The official synopsis reads: “Seventeen-year-old Pakistani American teenager Hala (Geraldine Viswanathan) struggles to balance desire with her familial, cultural and religious obligations. As she comes into her own, she grapples with a secret that threatens to unravel her family.” “Hala” also stars Jack Kilmer as Hala’s love interest, and the film also boasts supporting turns from Gabriel Luna,...

Apple is kicking off its foray into film by playing ball with Hollywood. The tech giant on Friday announced theatrical release dates for its first three films, coming this fall.
First comes the company’s acclaimed wildlife documentary “The Elephant Queen,” which will open in theaters on Oct. 18 before landing on Apple’s Apple TV+ streaming service Nov. 1.
The documentary, which Apple describes as “a genre-redefining film,” follows Athena, an elephant matriarch who will do everything in her power to protect her family when they are forced to leave their watering hole. “The Elephant Queen” is a story of love, loss and coming home, and is a timely love letter to a species that could be gone from our planet in a generation.

Apple has charted the first round of release dates for its original film slate — which includes the tech giant’s grand entrance into American movie theaters.
With the help of three boutique distribution companies, Apple will be taking titles including Anthony Mackie’s “The Banker,” Minhal Baig’s “Hala” and the buzzy wildlife doc “The Elephant Queen” into select cities nationwide before the titles upload to Apple TV Plus, Variety can report exclusively.
“The Banker,” which stars Mackie and Samuel L. Jackson as unlikely real estate and finance moguls in the Jim Crow era, will open in the awards corridor on December 6. New York-based distributor Bleecker Street is consulting on the release, two insiders close to the project said. It’s expected to hit Apple TV Plus in January.

There will not be a third season of “American Vandal,” as Netflix has decided to cancel the mockumentary series after two seasons.
“‘American Vandal’ will not return for a third season,” said Netflix in a statement just a month after the show’s second debuted. “We’re very grateful to the creators, writers, cast and crew for bringing their innovative comedy to Netflix, and to the fans and critics who embraced its unique and unconventional humor.”
“American Vandal” may not be done, however, as producers at CBS TV Studios have already received calls about a potential third season on another platform, an insider tells TheWrap.

The idea of a “fall TV season” feels particularly antiquated in 2017, as two of the year’s buzziest series (“Game of Thrones” and “Twin Peaks”) have already wrapped for the year. Fall may even be a bit of an afterthought now compared to spring, as networks aim to catch Emmy voters with prestige TV premieres when campaign season gets underway.
And yet, there’s nearly 70 years of tradition with the fall TV season. It’s when Nielsen still resets the calendar for the new TV year; when blue chip advertisers like the automotive sector roll out their own new wares; football season returns (don’t discount that huge impact on TV schedules); and the weather gets chilly, which conceivably means more viewers watching TV indoors.
This year, they’ll find a lot of familiar titles on broadcast TV, including the return of NBC’s “Will & Grace”; a prequel to “The Big Bang Theory,...
