If you’ve been keeping up with Quentin Tarantino since 2019’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, you’ll know that few characters have ever piqued his interest the way Leonardo DiCaprio’s Rick Dalton has. Tarantino has teased a new book called “The Films of Rick Dalton,” and indeed, just last week, a mysterious new Wikipedia page went up that filled out Dalton’s filmography in an intriguing way. Now, via the official Twitter feed of the Video Archives Podcast, which he hosts with Roger and Gala Avary, he’s confirmed the “death” of Rick Dalton at the ripe old age of ninety. The podcast is also hyping a special commemorative episode dropping on Tuesday that will examine some of the best roles.
We are saddened by the news of the passing of actor Rick Dalton, best known for his roles in the hit TV series Bounty Law and The Fireman trilogy.

Quentin Tarantino is going back to his roots.
The iconic filmmaker teams up again with “Pulp Fiction” co-screenwriter and fellow former Video Archives coworker Roger Avary to discuss the classic collection of cult films. The duo met back in 1983 when working at the famed video rental store in Manhattan Beach, California. The long-closed shop housed close to 8,000 VHS tapes and DVDs, which Tarantino purchased in 1995, the same year he and Avary won the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay for “Pulp Fiction.”
Now, in “The Video Archives Podcast,” Tarantino and Avary rewatch the original tapes from the Video Archives collection, featuring movies like “Dark Star,” “Moon Raker,” “Demonoid,” “Messenger of Death,” and “Piranha.” The podcast launches July 19 and is produced by SiriusXM subsidiary Stitcher.

Quentin Tarantino and Roger Avary, the co-writers of “Pulp Fiction” who won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay at the 1995 Oscars, have reunited – but not for another film project. The Oscar-winning duo will co-host a podcast for Stitcher called “The Video Archives Podcast” set to debut later this year.
Tarantino and Avary became friends while working at the original Video Archives store in Manhattan Beach, California, in the 1980s. The show will try to replicate their time as clerks there. Here’s the synopsis:
“Quentin Tarantino and Roger Avary invite you to become a customer at Video Archives, the store that started it all. Joined by their announcer Gala Avary, they’ll travel back in time to revisit old classics and discover new favorites, pulled from the actual VHS tapes that Quentin and Roger used to recommend to customers at the original Video Archives store in Manhattan Beach. Tarantino and Avary, who won the Best Original Screenplay Oscar in 1995 for Pulp Fiction, said in a joint statement, “We never imagined that 30 years after we worked together behind the counter at Video Archives, we would be together again doing the exact same thing we did back then: talking passionately about movies on VHS.”

"Rules of Attraction" and "Killing Zoe" director Roger Avary is set to helm "Unwind" for Voltage Pictures and Constantin Film.
Based on Neal Shusterman's award-winning novel, the story imagines a cruel dystopian world in which those over eighteen years of age, either function as a cog in the machine of a brainwashed society, or get 'unwound' - your body is taken apart, piece by piece, and given to those the government determines to be more suitable.
Connor (Ian Nelson), Risa (Kiernan Shipka), and Lev (Percy Hynes White) are three young people raging against the machine. Their desire for freedom and self-determination is greater than their fear of unwinding.
Bill Paxton and Jay Baruchel also star in the film while Avery and his daughter Gala Avary wrote the screenplay. Don Carmody, Robert Kulzer, Roger Avary, Julian Stone and Marc Benardout will produce.
