Since emerging into the spotlight in the 1990s, Jada Pinkett Smith has arguably become equally known for her acting career and her romantic relationships. From there, Pinkett Smith starred in several popular flicks in the '90s, including "Menace II Society," "The Nutty Professor," and "Scream 2." It may be time for Jada Pinkett Smith to bring herself back to the red table.
For years now, the actress and personality — known for movies like “Set It Off” and “Girls Trip,” as well as for her high-profile marriage to Will Smith and family life — has traded on a sort of tactical openness. “Red Table Talk,” a streaming series in which she, her daughter Willow Smith, and her mother Adrienne Banfield-Norris discuss personal matters, has, from its 2018 launch to its leaving Facebook Watch and going on hiatus earlier this year, helped rebrand a performer already recognized for her flair and edge as a say-almost-everything matriarch. And the vivid public life of Will Smith — including his dishy 2021 memoir “Will” and his turbulent 2022 Oscar night — has kept Jada’s name in headlines, too.

Janelle Monáe is feeling particularly free about her music and sexuality these days, but that's not the only thing the "Lipstick Lover" singer is being open about. In their 2023 Rolling Stone cover story, published on May 22, Monáe got real about their views around the recreational use of drugs, particularly how they "grew up fearful of marijuana" because of their parents.
"I had parents who were addicts," she explained to the publication, referring to her father, who was formerly addicted to crack-cocaine. "They would always say, 'Weed is the gateway drug to being a crackhead,' and I grew up with that in my mind and heart."
Monáe also revealed that their newfound attraction to weed was triggered by the Covid-19 pandemic, offering them a way to manage their anxiety after having "anxiety attacks" while recording their 2018 "Dirty Computer" album. "I was like, 'We're in the middle of a pandemic,'" the singer said.

Meta is shutting down its Facebook Watch original programming, a company spokesperson confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter, leaving the future of shows like Red Table Talk in limbo as production company Westbrook Studios shops around the talk show for a new home.
The shuttering of the Facebook Watch originals division, first reported by Deadline, comes as Meta implements wide-ranging cost cuts across the company, with the most recent including a round of layoffs that is expected to impact 10,000 employees. Included in the cuts is Mina Lefevre, the former MTV executive who led development and original programming for Facebook Watch.
One of Facebook Watch’s most well-known shows was Red Table Talk, the talk show co-hosted by Jada Pinkett Smith, Willow Smith and Adrienne Banfield-Norris. The series had five seasons on Facebook Watch and led to a spinoff series, Red Table Talk: The Estefans, with Gloria Estefan, Emily Estefan and Lili Estefan.

The “I’m Glad My Mom Died” memoirist shared a letter she received from her mother as excerpted in her book during Facebook Watch’s Red Table Talk hosted by Jada Pinkett Smith, Willow Smith, and Adrienne Banfield Norris. The episode will premiere Wednesday, September 7 at 9 a.m. Pt/12 p.m. Et.
McCurdy’s mother Debbie died in 2013 of cancer. The letter McCurdy reads was sent by Debbie after seeing photos of the “iCarly” actress on TMZ.
“I am so disappointed in you,” Debbie wrote McCurdy in an exclusive clip to People. “You used to be my perfect little angel, but now you are nothing more than a little’ — all caps — ‘slut, a floozy, all used up.’ And to think you wasted it on that hideous ogre of a man. I saw the pictures on a website called TMZ.

Jennette McCurdy has been making the rounds promoting her new memoir I’m Glad My Mom Died, and her latest stop found her joining Jada Pinkett Smith, Willow Smith and Adrienne Banfield Norris on “Red Table Talk”.
The book chronicles the years of abuse that the former “iCarly” star alleges that she suffered from her mother, who died from breast cancer in 2013.
To illustrate the kind of treatment she received, McCurdy read the women an email she’d once received from her mother, Debra McCurdy.

Just minutes after I pressed play, Olivia Jade Giannulli's Red Table Talk interview brought tears to my eyes. Angry tears, the kind that well up as your heart races. Watching the 21-year-old influencer - whose parents, Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli, were sentenced to prison for the 2019 college admissions scandal - search for solace, warmth, and understanding in Jada Pinkett Smith, Willow Smith, and Adrienne Banfield-Jones was a trigger I could not bear.
It was my high school senior year in 2006 when the United States College Board changed the maximum Sat score from 1600 to 2400. And in true fully-committed-lifetime-nerd fashion, I earned the highest score in my class: a whopping 1800. My achievement was praised throughout the student body, with "Ms. 1800" often taking the place of my actual name. I was 17 years old, and still naive enough to believe that my score would make the world my oyster.
Spoiler alert: the world was indeed not my oyster.

After shaving her head as part of the conclusion of an art exhibit at the Geffen Contemporary at the Museum of Contemporary Art Los Angeles earlier this month, Willow Smith “came into a womanhood,” according to mom Jada Pinkett Smith.
“The first time you shaved your head [was] when you were 12 years old. But this time, you came into a womanhood,” Jada, 48, told her daughter on Wednesday’s episode of Red Table Talk. “So, kudos to you.”
“I feel like I was just shedding a lot history and emotional baggage,” Willow explained. “Six, seven, years of emotion, I just let it go.
