Hey,"So You Think You Can Dance" fans. Tonight,August 5, 2019, the final cut for the Live shows episode did indeed air. This time, it featured the top ten guys getting narrowed down to the final 5 guys for the Live shows. All the judges: Lauriann Gibson, Dominic "D-Trix" Sandoval, Mary Murphy and Nigel Lythgoe were on hand. Each of the top ten guys were paired with an All-Star dancer from previous seasons and a choreographer outside of their own genre or style of dance. Bailey Munoz started off the auditions. He was paired with all-star Lauren Froderman from season 7. They were given a contemporary routine from choreographer Jaci Royal. Afterwards, Lauriann told Bailey, "You're great." Nigel said, "I'm shocked by how good you have become." Mary said, "You're incredible. You laid your soul out." Dominic said, "It was the best B-boy performance I have ever seen." Next up was Ezra Sosa.

So You Think You Can Dance‘s quartet of judges had an unenviable task on Monday night: Take a group of astoundingly talented male dancers, and cut it down from 10 to five.
Last week, Nigel Lythgoe & Co. made similarly tough decisions with the ladies, selecting only five of them to advance to the Top 10 and the live shows. This week, it was time for the gentlemen to make their cases — but some of them just weren’t persuasive enough.

After 16 long weeks of backflips, pliés and high kicks, So You Think You Can Dance reached the end of its 14th season on Monday night, at last bestowing the title of America’s Favorite Dancer upon one of the four finalists.
But before we could find out whether Koine, Taylor, Lex or Kiki was the Season 14 champ, Sytycd stayed true to its finale form, offering up a two-hour stroll down memory lane before unleashing a confetti shower upon the eventual winner.
In the meantime, here’s how those 120 minutes were filled:

Monday’s episode of So You Think You Can Dance at last revealed the Top 10 contestants for Season 14, after weeks of stunning auditions, brutal training at The Academy and far too much footage of the All-Stars looking conflicted about who to cut.
Over the course of two hours, we finally learned who each All-Star decided to bring to the performance shows — and the resulting duos set a very high bar in their first live outing.
Below, let’s recap Monday’s routines, in the order each finalist was revealed:

Taylor Swift new album is called "1989," but she rewound the years even more for her MTV Video Music Awards performance of "Shake It Off." The rowdy, upbeat number was a mix of "The Great Gatsby," Old Hollywood and girl groups, as Swift danced with a cadre of be-suited gents and a mix of backing singers. And, as she demands from the song, she shook it off/up/around in a glitzy crop top and matching shorts and her penchant red lipstick. During the bridge, she literally ran her way from one part of the set to the other, breathless, murmuring about the snake that bit one of Nicki Minaj's "Anaconda" dancers during rehearsals. Just like in the music video for "Shake It Off," she's gotta ad-lib because she ain't perfect, y'know? And keep your eyes open for Jasmine Harper from "So You Think You Can Dance," and one helluva hair toss at the end,...

So You Think You Can Dance fans, I have a dilemma.
For much of Wednesday’s Top 10 performance show — which paired each finalist with an All-Star dancer from seasons past — I couldn’t quite decide whether the Top 10 were put at an advantage or disadvantage by dancing with Sytycd vets.
Take, for example, what I considered tonight’s most entertaining routine: a fun hip-hop number between Jessica Richens and her All-Star companion, Twitch. On her own, Jessica did an excellent job with the fast-paced routine (and started to break away from the idea that she can only excel at jazz...

So You Think You Can Dance‘s tenth season concluded last night in a predictable blitz of extraordinary talent, shocking versatility, and Mary Murphy‘s horny yelping, and thankfully, it won’t be the last kickass finale we ever see: Czar Lythgoe announced that the show had been picked up for an 11th season, which was not a certainty until roughly 8:05 p.m. last night. Yay! Hot men oiled up in the name of Bollywood choreography and Jesse Tyler Ferguson‘s leering commentary. Thank God (read: Paula Abdul‘s gilded neckpiece) for this.
We’ll get to the winners in a moment, but first, a quick run-down of the revisited routines that dominated the 2+ hour telecast.

Aw, lovely. Too bad I still don’t need to hear “Edge of Glory” anymore. Guys, Born This Way was not a fun album.

Well, it has been a roller-coaster of a season on So You Think You Can Dance. There were elimination format changes and some great new ideas, such as having the All-Stars choreograph routines. The talent was fantastic, and there was no question that Amy Yakima, Jasmine Harper, Aaron Turner and DuShaunt "Fik-Shun" Stegall deserved to be in the finale.
So why did Amy Yakima and DuShaunt "Fik-Shun" Stegall win the title of America's favorite dancers? Let's take a peek at the factors that helped rock the vote.

So You Think You Can Dance 2013 Fik-Shun & Amy Yakima won the whole show tonight. Tonight's finale show, kicked off with another group performance from all the top 20 dancers. Then periodically, over the course of 2 hours, the judges selected some dance routines that they wanted to see again. Some of them included: Fik-Shun and Twitch's hop-hop number. Amy and Fik-Shun also did another cool, hip hip routine. They showed new scenes from an awesome new dance movie that's coming out, called, "Battle Of The Year." It includes b-boy dancer, Dominic Sandoval, from season 3. Then dancers from the movie, hit the stage to do a wicked hip hop routine at one point. Haley and Nico hit the stage to do an encore routine. Even the judges Nigel Lythgoe and Mary Murphy, hit the stage to do a routine, and I was quite surprised to see how well Nigel could move. I...

Now, this is obviously the climax of So You Think You Can Dance‘s tenth season, and we’re all having a great time watching it like thriving gay Americans. Yes. Jasmine Harper? Is a tower of wonderful legs. Amy Yakima? Is a fountain of Christmas morning smiles. Aaron Turner? Is fine burliness. Fik-Shun? Is charming and robotized. We smile at the collective limberness and shake our butterscotch manes in disbelief like Mary Murphy. “Squawk, squawk, I love these dancers!” we hoot, waving our conductor hat from atop the sinister Hot Tamale locomotive on its way to Istanbul.

I realize we’re a week off from the finale, but now’s as good a time as ever to ask the tough question: What is missing from this damn season of So You Think You Can Dance? I still say Sytycd is the greatest reality-competition on TV; I still say it’s an explosive That’s Entertainment!-type spectacle every week; and I still believe Mary Murphy‘s hair and face are the same dynamite color that I’m calling This-Ranch-Hand’s-Been-Dead-For-Days Orange, but season 10 manages to fall short as addictive television.
Strange considering the choreography still rules, the judging is 100% fantastic if you disqualify Carly Rae Jepsen‘s appearance (Thank you to this week’s guest-judge Jesse Tyler Ferguson for that scathing, hilarious aside about her failed guest stint, and the talent level is impossibly high. Why aren’t we impossibly high?)
For me, the problem is that...
