After years of adventurous high-profile relationships, Vanessa Hudgens and Cole Tucker got together in 2020. The first public relationship of the American actress and singer was with her High School Musical co-star Zac Efron. From being an on-screen couple to real-life lovers, Hudgens and Efron had a highly publicized romance for half a decade. When they parted ways in 2010, the Gabriella Montez actress had a brief relationship with Josh Hutcherson, her Journey 2: The Mysterious Island costar. Hudgens’ next partner was The Carrie Diaries’ actor Austin Butler. She was first linked to Butler in September 2011 and they dated...

My Life With The Walter Boys, the 2023 Netflix coming-of-age teen rom-com is a sweet story about a recently orphaned girl named Jackie whose life turns upside down when she has to move from the Big Apple to Colorado to her mother’s best friend’s home. Jackie is absolutely your typical high school drama female lead. She’s got perfect grades; she has a goal to accomplish, and she’s so driven to that goal that even when her entire family dies in a car accident, she’s able to focus on it. Picture Gabriella Montez, but switch up the music with event management, and you’ve got yourself Jackie Howard. Newcomer Nikki Rodriguez is being named Netflix’s new big YA star, and for good reason. She’s got all the right attributes to be a leading lady on these teen shows for at least another 5 years, and I mean this as a compliment.

It's Sharpay and what's-his-name! Ashley Tisdale just revisited her days as a Wildcat and didn't miss a beat. The actress joined TikToker Chris Olsen for a clip on the social media app on Aug. 18 set to her character Sharpay Evans's song "I Want It All" from "High School Musical 3."
In the video, Tisdale - a regular TikTok queen - expertly lip-syncs to the lyrics she sang in the 2008 movie musical, with Olsen taking on the role of her onscreen brother, Ryan (originally portrayed by Lucas Grabeel). The song documents Sharpay's unrelenting vision of success for herself - and Ryan - as her high-school tenure comes to a close. Tisdale wrote on the clip, "Me trying to get Chris to help me with my TikTok."

High School Musical fans may think a major reunion is on the horizon, but Joshua Bassett wouldn't bet on it. The actor, who stars in High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, has seen Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens' recent social media nods to the 2006 film. But as for what it means for the franchise, he's just as in the dark as fans. "Listen, I can't say anything," Bassett exclusively told E! News' Daily Pop on July 26. "But all I will say is I was just as confused as you are. I don't know what's going on with that." The actors—who played Troy Bolton and Gabriella Montez in the original film series—recently sent the Internet into a...

Sharpay was focused on bopping to the top, but Gabriella? Eh, not so much, according to Ashley Tisdale. Famous for bringing East High School's Drama Club President Sharpay Evans to life, the High School Musical alum recently weighed in on the stark difference she saw between her character and Vanessa Hudgens' Gabriella Montez. "It's funny because a lot of young kids did react. You know, they loved Sharpay," she recalled in a Good Morning America interview. "And I remember Disney being like, 'Why do the kids love this character? She's supposed to be the villain.'" While she was the antagonist, youngsters recognized a quality...

Ok, Wildcats, it's time to get real. It's been 15 years since High School Musical made its grand debut. The iconic Disney Channel musical spawned a franchise that gave us three films, a Disney+ series adaptation, a stage musical, concert tours, books, and even video games! Jams like "Start of Something New" and "We're All in This Together" will go down as the boppiest bops to ever bop their way to the top! But there's one conversation that's long overdue among HSM fans: Troy Bolton (Zac Efron) deserved better.
I know that seems like a wild statement, especially considering that Troy has it made in every way possible, but it's true. I'm not saying Troy is an innocent cinnamon roll who needs protecting from the world - he definitely plays himself by making terrible decisions that exacerbate drama rather than making things easier - but it isn't all his fault. Despite...

In the early aughts, Kenny Ortega had directed a string of “Ally McBeal” and “Gilmore Girls” episodes, but what he really wanted was to return to making movies.
So he asked his agents to keep an eye out for a TV movie, something “under the radar” that would allow him to quietly flex his filmmaking chops as he slid behind the camera for his first feature since 1993’s “Hocus Pocus.”
The script that caught his eye, a Disney Channel Original Movie with the working title “Untitled High School Musical Project,” became a phenomenon despite Ortega’s desire to keep a low-profile.
“High School Musical” was the rare made-for-tv movie that transcended its humble origins and captivated a generation of teens and tweens when it premiered on Jan. 20, 2006. It didn’t just launch the careers Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens (known then as Vanessa Anne Hudgens), Ashley Tisdale and more. It also...

It's always a treat when High School Musical stars revisit songs from the Disney classic. Vanessa Hudgens is one of the latest to take a trip down memory lane, as she recently crooned a socially distanced version of "Breaking Free" with Broadway actor Max Clayton. When it comes to Hollywood romances, Vanessa Hudgens and Austin Butler's relationship is one we can't stop rooting for. The dreamy couple has been together since 2011, which is when they were first spotted by paparazzi, but they have actually known each other for much longer. What started out as a friendship during Vanessa's High School Musical days back in 2005 - and, in part, thanks to a mutual Bff in Ashley Tisdale - has grown into one of Hollywood's most admirable relationships.
Vanessa and Austin reportedly met in 2005 on the set of High School Musical, even though Austin wasn't actually in the Disney Channel film. He was doing a lot of extra work at the time and had been around the scene, appearing on Hannah Montana and Zoey 101 early on in his career.
