Leland remains free... Ben doesn't
20 May 2012
Warning: Spoilers
After Maddy's murder at the end of the last episode it looked as though Leland would soon be behind bars however as this episode opens he is still free and explains to Donna and James that she headed home earlier in the day. This leaves Ben Horne as the prime suspect in Laura's murder and with his brother acting as his lawyer his chances of proving his innocence seems slim... after all as far as he knows his alibi is dead. He later learns that Catherine Martell isn't dead when her husband comes in with an offer to help... for a very large price. Away from the case Norma's mother turns up with her new husband; a man who would rather she didn't know he'd been to prison; no doubt Hank's silence will have a price.

While not as exciting as the previous episode this was still quality entertainment; Ray Wise does a great job as the increasingly mad Leland Palmer; his dancing in the Great Northern is just surreal. It was a pleasant surprise that his character remains free to keep that storyline going a bit longer. As always there was plenty of humour; the highlights being when Cooper listed all the reasons why Jerry Horne wasn't the sort of lawyer you'd want representing you and the arrival in town of Lucy's sister Gwen who acts just like her.
