Twin Peaks: Cooper's Dreams (1990)
Season 1, Episode 6

Warning: Spoilers
I guess I might as well resign to the bizarre scenes that don't make sense. You could do worse than the Log Lady, I suppose. At least she manages to be funny in her strangeness. Somehow I doubt there'll ever be an answer as to how exactly she was able to communicate with her log.

The other very strange scene is the dance. It's funny and strange at the same time to see the dancers copying Leland's sobbing as a dance move. It was probably meant to be sad as well, but it fails in that because the scene is just too comical to make you feel sorry for him. And I have to say he isn't a very good actor, not really able to make the ridiculous scene convincing. Audrey's crying shows she isn't all heartless though. I have to add that the whole subplot with the Icelanders felt like padding and it wasn't that interesting, or even funny. Then again, I'm no big fan of Twin Peaks' style of humour in general.

The most important moment in this episode in my view is the revelation about Laura. Up till now she's been presented as a sweet girl who hid some problems that were affecting her deep down. It turns out she wasn't so innocent after all. We don't get anything concrete from Bobby, just that she wanted to corrupt other people, but hopefully there'll be more about this in future.

Parts of this episode are a bit predictable and drawn out, like Shelly's inevitable shooting of Leo. That was the only thing that was ever going to happen so it doesn't come as the great moment it was probably meant to.
