It's hard to track down the original source of this story so probably best to treat it as a rumor, but according to legend, famously strident Exorcist director William Friedkin literally threw composer Lalo Schifrin's partial score for the film out a window to demonstrate his displeasure. In a 2005 interview with The Score, Schifrin describes the would-be collaboration as "one of the most unpleasant experiences of my life" and further suggests that Friedkin may have sabotaged his work on the project by deliberately failing to pass along a critical note from the studio: What happened is that the director, William Friedkin, hired me to write the music for the trailer, six minutes were recorded for the Warner’s edition of the trailer. The people who saw the trailer reacted against the film, because the scenes were heavy and frightening, so most of them went to the toilet to vomit.

In the last couple of months we have been both blessed and burdened by a pair of movies depicting the Master of Suspense™ himself, Alfred Hitchcock. The first was an HBO original film called "The Girl," which dealt with the filmmaker (played by Toby Jones in heavy prosthetics) and his obsession with Tippi Hedren (Sienna Miller) during the filming of his classic chiller "The Birds." That film was kind of a wet noodle, but we've got another shot with this week's "Hitchcock," a far more playful portrait of the director, this time played by Anthony Hopkins (masked by similarly heavy prosthetics) and focused instead on his relationship with his wife (Helen Mirren) and the making of the controversial horror masterpiece "Psycho." Of course, the question remains -- does "Hitchcock" do justice to his namesake or is it a bunch of empty thrills? Pro: It's A Great Deal More Fun Than "Lincoln" The tone of "Hitchcock,...

Jason Statham (Transporter, Crank) fans will have something to be excited about this week as FilmDistrict is sealing a deal to to distribute a film adaptation of Donald Westlake’s novel series, starring Parker, a criminal who lives by strict moral code and is not afraid to kill for it. Westlake wrote 24 Parker novels in all under the pen name Richard Stark. Taylor Hackford (Ray, The Devil’s Advocate) has been chosen to direct and John J. McLaughlin (Black Swan)will write the screenplay. Production is slated to begin in early August. Deadline broke the news on Monday afternoon.
I’m a little apprehensive about Statham playing the role, but he shouldn’t have to work too hard. He certainly has the physical build, although I would have liked his face to look a little rough around the edges as opposed to the dapper Statham.

Video games have a long tradition that many gamers absolutely hate. Developers will take the same formula from one successful game, change it ever so slightly, and release a second game the following year. Well the film industry has decided to give this a go, and with it we get the rehashed version of The Hangover set in a new continent and nothing more.
The Set-up
The movie takes place as Stu (Ed Helms) is finally getting married. Oddly enough it isn’t to the strange hooker he found in the first film. Instead he is marrying Lauren (Jamie Chung) who has a dad that doesn’t like him and a young brother named Teddy (Mason Lee) that tags along for the trip. Remember how I said it all seems rehashed? The “Wolfpack” consists of Phil (Bradley Cooper), playing the same exact role; Alan (Zach Galifianakis), even more exaggerated as...
