Walk into the room where Caitlin Cronenberg is sitting, idly checking her phone and chatting with a friend, and you will be greeted by: Chaos.
The 39-year-old filmmaker already cuts an imposing figure, courtesy of a mane of dyed red hair in maximum tousled mode, some impressively art deco nailwork and her wide-set eyes, capable of a full-bore stare that Cronenberg uses to unblinkingly punctuate deadpan jokes (and which make her a dead ringer for her late mother). Bollywood singer Jonita Gandhi, who headlined Toronto’s DesiFest over the weekend, spoke with Et Canada about how growing up in a multi-cultural area near Toronto paved the path for her career in the industry.
Gandhi also discussed how listening to Bollywood music in an Indian household helped her understand the industry.

Comedy has taken Nathan Fielder to some pretty strange places, but nothing quite compares to the time he found himself walking a high wire between two seven-story buildings in downtown L.A. It was the finale of the third season of Nathan for You, the hit Comedy Central series in which Fielder offers preposterously elaborate assistance to small-business owners and other regular folks. For this episode, he took on his biggest project yet: transforming a deeply nerdy, semi-employed man who lives with his parents into a genuine hero. Fielder assumed the identity of Corey Calderwood,...

Carly Rae Jepsen, the pop queen who emerged like Athena from the skull of Canadian Idol, has unleashed her full version of the Full House theme. It will serve as the theme to the Netflix reboot Fuller House. Is it worthy of a standing ovation at the Smash Club? I'd compare this peppy cover to Lady Gaga's David Bowie tribute at the Grammys: It's a proper homage to the spirit of the original, but the new version isn't retro at all. In fact, this sounds like any old Carly Rae Jepsen single (off her first album, not E-mo-tion). Since Fuller House is driven by the performances of three women, it's cool to hear a distinctly girlish take on "Everywhere You Look." As such, it does one thing that Fuller House does not: succeed at existing in 2016 without making you question your childhood judgment. ...

About eight years ago, a guitar-wielding Michelle Trachtenberg doppelgänger walked into the audition room on the third season of Canadian Idol. Her name was Carly Rae Jepsen. “You’re 21, huh?” one of the judges asked. She nodded. “Going on … 14?” Completely ignoring this creepy yet somewhat understandable joke, she launched into a breezy original song called “Sweet Talker.” Her voice was soulful, fluttering, and a little stagy, like a girl playing the lead role in a (likely very boring) musical about the life of a young Norah Jones. She won the judges over, and their verdict was unanimous: You’re going to Toronto! The Canadian version of Paula Abdul had a big prediction for Carly Rae Jepsen: “I think you’re an absolute, total, bona fide star.” This prophesy turned out to be both true and false. After finishing third on Idol and toiling away in the Canadian music scene...

Carly Rae Jepsen is gearing up for her big Broadway debut in Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella on Feb. 4, and, as a treat to fans, she's now shared a pair of Instagram photos from behind the scenes. The "Call Me Maybe" singer, 28, looks like real royalty in a black-and-white snapshot posted on Tuesday, as she wears a voluminous ball gown with plenty of bustle. From the photo's caption, it's clear she loves her new look. "First day on set and they let me try on the Big wedding dress!" Jepsen wrote. "They had to bribe me with smarties to take it off.

According to the New York Times, the former "Canadian Idol" finalist will appear in the show for 12 weeks, joining fellow Broadway newcomer Fran Drescher, who will play Cinderella's evil stepmother. At some point, "American Idol" Season 13 needs to get its panel of judges set. Only Season 12 judge Keith Urban is officially on the show, and even the oft-rumored Jennifer Lopez remains unconfirmed. If nothing else, the delay in official choices means that many names have been rumored as possibilities.
These names include Kanye West, Sean "Diddy" Combs, Scooter Braun and Dr. Luke. Until there is confirmation about anyone on "Idol" next season, rumors are all we get.
Kanye West isn't likely at all, although he reportedly was requested by "American Idol." The rapper decided against taking a spot on the judges' panel because he felt it would hurt his reputation, according to Us Weekly. Considering the pop-music focus of "Idol," he was probably correct in this decision.

He may be one of the biggest pop stars out today, but Justin Bieber is still a teenager and some recent juvenile behavior could mean legal trouble for the Canadian idol.
A nightclub DJ filed a police report claiming the "Beauty and a Beat" singer spit on his face in the VIP room of Social Room in Columbus, Ohio on July 13th.
Addison Ulhaq said the 19-year-old singer thought he was taking photos of him and though he denied doing so, was spat on by the Biebs.
Additionally, the police report reads, "The victim stated that the suspect told him that 'His mother was a bitch, his father was a bitch and he is a bitch.'"
Though no charges have been filed, the DJ has lawyered up and his attorneys say the assault left saliva and mucus in their client's eye, nose, and mouth.

If Justin Bieber is melting down, the person who had been his opening act through a big part of the last year certainly hasn't noticed. Carly Rae Jepsen, who shot to fame after winning "Canadian Idol" and releasing the hit single "Call Me Maybe," has been with Justin throughout much of the European and North American dates of the Believe tour.
When asked by Billboard about Justin's downward spiral, Jepsen offers, "I actually am so out of the loop on any of that, to be honest." That's not to say everyone doesn't grill her about it, though. "People are constantly, like, 'Is Justin Ok?' I've not really noticed any of that," she says. "I feel like Justin's a guy who's working hard every day, and I think the media can sometimes be a little brutal with stuff and over-exaggerate things. But I stand by him. I support him. "American Idol" has been promoting Carly Rae Jepsen's finale performance throughout Season 12, and viewers finally got a chance to see it during the final performance show on Wednesday (May 15). After the show, Jepsen talked to reporters about her song, being an alum of "Canadian Idol" and whether Justin Bieber would make a good "Idol" judge.
Are there any jitters, being back on an "Idol" show?
Carly Rae Jepsen: Yes there is. It was really strange to be backstage actually. It wasn't so much once I was on, 'cause it was just kind of a performance. But leading up to it -- the music that plays -- I was like, "What? Why am I so nervous?" I don't get nervous anymore, but I did tonight and I think it was the "American Idol"/"Canadian Idol" jitters.

American Idol is one day away from crowning its season 12 winner, and on Wednesday night, finalists Candice Glover and Kree Harrison entrusted viewers with one of the toughest decisions in competition history in the show's first girl vs. girl finale since season 3.

New York — Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe" became the soundtrack for endless viral online fun last year: U.S. infantry soldiers lip-synched to it in Afghanistan's Kunar Province. So did James Franco and the U.S. Olympic swim team. Models from Abercrombie & Fitch showed off their abs to it, as did hair-whipping Miami Dolphins cheerleaders. Dogs have barked the whole song. Parodies of it have been parodied.
Fellow singers from Katy Perry to Selena Gomez embraced the pop goodness.
Even the Cookie Monster jumped on the "Call Me Maybe" train.
The song put 27-year-old Jepsen, who finished third on a season of "Canadian Idol," in the spotlight and on a path to potential Grammy gold. The monster hit is nominated for song of the year and best pop vocal performance at the Feb. 10 awards show.

In "Call Me Maybe," Carly Rae Jepsen most certainly created the pop hit of the summer. But the song may have also inadvertently created a major problem for those in the dating world. Specifically, it's the chorus' hook that poses the biggest questions. In it, the 26-year-old Canadian Idol vet sings, "I just met you, and this is crazy, so here's my number, so call me maybe," which seems pretty flirtatious at first. But on further examination, is it really? After all, if someone gives you his or her number, and tells you to call him/her

The Call Me Maybe singer reveals her love of London, her favourite lyricist and her leading role with pumpkins
Hi Carly. You recently judged a pumpkin contest. How does one judge a pumpkin contest?
Well, I hadn't judged too many pumpkins before this particular contest. But it was both flattering and terrifying because someone had carved a pumpkin of my face. I said: "I'm glad you care, but at the same time this is weird."
What won?
The winning pumpkin was by someone who had made a miniature village out of pumpkin. The architecture was incredible (1).
I've seen you discuss your love of London architecture. Why is it so special to you?
Everything is just so gorgeous! If you come to Vancouver, where I'm from, there's not as much history. Everywhere in London is eye-candy – you can imagine what it was like years ago, but today's it's just so pristine.

Carly Rae Jepsen scored the hit of the summer with her infectious pop tune "Call Me Maybe."But the music industry is always looking for the next big thing, and it might find it in 19-year-old Cher Lloyd.Cher has a lot in common with Carly Rae: they're both brunette, petite (5'2"), and got their big breaks on singing competitions (Cher placed 4th on "The X Factor" U.K., while Carly Rae was third on "Canadian Idol")."Call Me Maybe" still holds the top spot on the Billboard 100, but Cher's single "Want U Back" is climbing steadily, hitting No. 12 this week (last week it was No. 17) and getting increased play on radio. The ultimate sign it's a hit? Cher will be releasing a bonus version with Snoop Dogg on her new album Sticks + Stones, which drops September 18th. Listen to the bouncy beats in the music video below:Do you like the song?...

Before her hit single, “Call Me Maybe,” became ridiculously overplayed and an Internet meme – indirectly helping to spawn the Overly Attached Girlfriend meme – Carly Rae Jepsen was a humble girl from Mission, British Columbia – yeah Canada! – playing the occasional show in small venues. Her fame came from placing third in the fifth season of Canadian Idol, but she has since exploded almost out of nowhere. Her rise to fame outside of Canada happened so quickly, I wasn’t sure it was really happening. But now I can’t go a single day without seeing someone mentioning “Call Me Maybe” or Jepsen somewhere on the Internet. And now, Jepsen has landed a role on Season 5 of 90210.
According to TVLine, Jepsen will make her scripted television debut in the Season 5 premiere of 90210, airing Monday, Oct. 8th, where she will be playing herself and will perform a song from her next album. She...

Pop sensation, Carly Rae Jepsen, proved she's going to be a huge international star in her first American awards show appearance. Weren't you impressed too? Carly Rae Jepsen, you sounded and looked great performing your huge hit, "Call Me Maybe," on last night's , May 20th, Billboard Awards show. If you had a case of nerves at all before performing, it didn't show for a minute as you bopped around energetically on stage. You hit every note, had a bright, charismatic presence and drew in the entire live audience in the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and the audience of millions watching on TV at home. Not bad for a girl from the small city of Mission, British Columbia who placed third in the fifth season of Canadian Idol in 2007. It was only on Feb. 14 of this year that fellow Canadian Justin Bieber announced on Canada's Much Music program,...

We'll say this. The crew at 103.5 Kiss FM Chicago can really throw a party. They call it "Fantabuloso." The concert, which took place at the Allstate Arena on Friday, May 18th, featured an all-star line up of Top 40 hit-makers including artists like Gym Class Heroes, Enrique Iglesias, The Wanted, Adam Lambert, B.o.B., Cobra Starship, Karmin, DJ Havana Brown, Carly Rae Jepsen, Neon Hitch, Outasight, and Dev. Quite a line up, and to be honest, we could give each artist their own article but in the interest of time, we'll just say that everyone who performed gave the audience an honest bang for their hard-earned buck. The six-hour musical extravaganza had it's share of highlights, so we've compiled a list of the night's best moments along with some fab photos from the show. Pop music duo Karmin kicked off the show with an energetic set, followed by synth-pop band Cobra Starship,...

Canadian singer-songwriter Carly Rae Jepsen finished third on the fifth season of Canadian Idol, and would later go on to record the Billboard Top Ten hit "Call Me Maybe." Fellow Canuck Justin Bieber took a shine to Jepsen, helping her sign to Schoolboy Records/Interscope. Besides being catnip for tweens, "Call Me Maybe" also seems to possess the strange power of making adults act goofy as well. Back in February, Bieber, Selena Gomez, Ashley Tisdale and some friends sillied it up in a YouTube video for the song, which currently boasts over thirty-seven-million hits and counting. And last month, while checking out bands at Coachella, Katy Perry and some friends also succumbed to the song's infectious charms, filming their own video for the tune. And now, the latest, er, homage to the ebullient bubblegum smash (which after a few listens starts to sound like [...]...

Here at HuffPost Celebrity, we are obsessed with Carly Rae Jepsen's song "Call Me Maybe." Obsessed may even be an understatement, since we've been listening to it on repeat. That's why we were so excited to see Jepsen make her U.S. TV debut on "The Ellen Show" on Friday.
Jepsen, 26, was accompanied by none other than teen mega-popstar Justin Bieber, whom she has to thank for launching her super, catchy pop song to the top of the iTunes charts. Bieber was listening to the radio when he was back home in Canada for the holidays and was immediately addicted to Jepsen's song.
After discovering that Jepsen was signed to Canada's 604 Records (Nickelback singer Chad Kroeger's label), Bieber was poised to make her a star in the U.S and the rest of the world, and signed her to his manager Scooter Braun's label Schoolboy Records.

Carly Rae Jepsen has suddenly found herself in the big leagues. Justin Bieber recently signed the YouTube pop starlet to his Schoolboy Records label, much like his mentor, Usher, helped catapult him into superstardom when the R&B icon took Bieber under his wing.
It all started when Bieber tweeted, "Call me maybe by Carly Rae Jepsen is possibly the catchiest song I've ever heard," creating an immediate runaway hit of the track off Jepsen's Ep Curiosity. And now, a music video spoof of the song, featuring heavy pop hitters like Selena Gomez, Ashley Tisdale and, of course, Bieber, has likely made "Call Me Maybe" the song of the season.
