Quentino Tarantino recently celebrated the 20th anniversary of the release of his immense directorial debut, Reservoir Dogs. Tying in nicely with that anniversary is Tarantino Xx, a new eight-film Blu-ray collection that hits shelves in the UK today.
The box set includes all seven of the films Tarantino has directed to date (not counting the upcoming and highly anticipated Django Unchained, of course), with a brilliant addition in True Romance, which Tarantino wrote and the late Tony Scott directed.
With the box set coming out on Blu-ray today, we’ve got a great new featurette with Robert Rodriguez, with whom Tarantino has worked with many times over the years.
Included in the collection, Tarantino Xx, in chronological order, are:
Reservoir Dogs, True Romance, Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, Kill Bill Vols. I and II, Death Proof, and Inglourious Basterds.

In anticipation of the release of Tarantino Xx: 8-film Collection on Blu-ray this November 20th, 2012, check out the full interior artwork created by Mondo artist Ken Taylor. Stylistic, bold and unique, Ken Taylor add the same artistic flair to this boxed set as he has for so many of his Mondo poster designs, including this amazing poster for Drive (2011) amongst others. A fitting addition to a boxed set already so highly anticipated it could literally make some film buffs’ heads actually explode. For many, this may be a rare opportunity to own some Mondo art, even if mass produced, as original Mondo prints typically sell out within minutes, if not seconds. For many, it’s been a long wait as we’ve watched various Blu-ray editions of Tarantino films pop up in other countries, but not in the United States… ’till now. Tarantino + Blu-ray + Mondo = a very happy fan of cool cinema!

This has us deliriously happy because Quentin Tarantino is one of the great stylists, who can deliver action, humor, and moments you have never seen before. He has a great ear for music so his soundtracks sing, and his casting is always brilliant. Go ahead and read the following then begin writing to Santa Claus.

I am a huge fan of Quentin Tarantino, and love all of the films he's been involved in. Not only is he one of the most charismatic directors out there, but he is also one of the biggest film geeks. Seeing him at this year's Comic-Con for Django Unchained was simply amazing.

Whether you love him or hate him, there is no doubt that Quentin Tarantino is a filmmaker that has definitely changed the language of cinema. Factor in that for the most part, Tarantino has directed all of his films via one company also makes it easier for a company like Lionsgate to publish a collection of his films celebrating his existence in film. Lionsgate will be re-releasing his 8 groundbreaking films on Blu-Ray in one very attractive set featuring a cover by Mondo by Ken Taylor. While this is definitely a double dip for some if not all Blu-Ray collectors, the fact that it is all in one package should attract you to make a purchase in the 8 film collection. I’m even missing some of his films on Blu-Ray so this set is still worth it to me. Read below for the press release.

Critically praised upon release and in loud contemporary circles considered his best film, Quentin Tarantino’s feature film follow-up to Pulp Fiction with Jackie Brown made it’s UK debut to Blu-ray and is available now. We have 3 copies of the Blu-ray to give away.
A sexy flight attendant (Pam Grier) is caught in a plot between the police and an arms dealer, and everyone’s looking for the payoff. There are six unlikely players on the trail for a big score – a half million dollars in cash. But alliances are shaky when its unclear who is playing and who is getting played.
Jackie Brown earned a 1997 Oscar® nomination for supporting actor Robert Forster (Mulholland Drive), three Golden Globe nominations (including Best Musical/Comedy) and an NAACP Image Award nomination for Pam Grier’s performance. Chicago – I’m old enough dear readers to vividly remember Quentin Tarantino’s premiere with “Reservoir Dogs” and then how much he took the world by storm with “Pulp Fiction,” a common choice for the best film of the ’90s. At the time, “Jackie Brown” seemed like a disappointment by comparison (how could it not?), but it is now widely respected and even beloved. These aren’t just good movies — they’re classics of their time. What more do you want from a pair of Blu-rays?
The fact that Lionsgate bought out the library of Miramax for Blu-ray release has led to an onslaught of some of the best movies of their day in the last few months including “Amelie,” “Trainspotting,” “Swingers,” and more. Perhaps the best pair of releases of this entire collection came last week with the one-two punch of “Pulp Fiction” and “Jackie Brown,” two five-star films...

Jackie Brown is not my favorite from Tarantino’s vault, but it’s still a damn good film.

Jackie Brown is one of Quentin Tarantino's often overlooked films. It was originally released on 1997 and stars Pam Grier, Robert Forster, Sameul L. Jackson, Bridget Fonda and Michael Keaton. Maybe it's because it does not have as much action as Reservoir Dogs, Kill Bill, Pulp Fiction.or my favorite Inglorious Basterds. I What you do get with this film has Tarantino's best dialogue and some outstanding performances from the cast. It definitely does not hurt that Tarantino used Elmore Leonard's Rum Punch for inspiration on the film. Regardles, it's obvious that this film and it's characters exist in Tarantino's universe.
What many people assume about the film is that it is solely a take on black exploitation films, it is so much more. Grier is great in this character that is so easily to relate to in a lot of ways. Jackson and Tarantino work so well together...

Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown are arriving on Blu-ray on October 4th. Pulp Fiction was one of my most mind-blowing experiences at the theater. I went into the film blind, not knowing what the film was truly about, and left the theater on a cloud of awesomeness. I had yet to see Reservoir Dogs, and was not familiar with Quentin Tarantino until this movie (even though I had seen a number of films he wrote). Jackie Brown may not be the phenomenon that Pulp Fiction was, but it is still an amazing film with great characters. I was very happy to hear that both of these cinematic gems were getting the Blu-ray treatment.
The discs have some great features, which you can check out below. Here is the Blu-ray trailer for Jackie Brown:
