I recently had the immense pleasure of sitting down face-to-face with the famed Italian horror director, Lamberto Bava. Bava’s films are primarily in the horror, giallo, and fantasy genres.
Bava is the son of the legendary Italian director, Mario Bava and grandson of Eugenio Bava, a special effects artist and director from the silent days of Italian cinema. He grew up on the sets of his father’s films, learning all that he could about the business. He worked for 15 years under his father as his personal assistant, assistant director, and screenwriter on such films beginning with Planet of the Vampires (1965), Kill Baby, Kill (1966), Danger: Diabolik (1968), Hatchet for the Honeymoon (1970), Twitch of the Death Nerve (1971), Baron Blood (1972), and Lisa and the Devil (1974).
Bava then began working with Ruggero Deodato on his infamous Jungle Holocaust (1977) and Cannibal Holocaust (1980) films, then with Dario Argento as...

How seriously do you think I take Halloween? Well, I’m fairly frickin’ anal retentive anyway, so I need to book my viewing in advance. I mean I’ll deviate from my itinerary, but I at least need a plan. I can’t be the only one out there with a stick up his ass. So this October/Halloween Season I figured we needed a little guidance. There’s too many damn channels on the cable box, no horror hosts and shit for advertising. So let me be your TV Guide… Keeper.
We won’t touch on everything and I’m sure new programming will come up as October gets itself moving. I’ll throw an update out there from time to time if a special is airing or a new programming line up is discovered, uncovered, revealed or undead. Yes, this is for cable or dish. Network TV will...

With so many big screen productions happening at the speed of a mile a minute, it's nice every so often to go back and look at the gory glory of the short film. Especially when they star one of horror's living legends.
From the Press Release:
Legendary make-up effects artist, filmmaker, and actor Tom Savini has accepted the leading role in director Irene Miracle’s short film The Baggage Claim. Based on the screenplay by Tim Lucas, The Baggage Claim is a production of The Factory Digital Filmmaking Program at Douglas with program director Robert Tinnell and film student Jason “Cartman” Baker serving as producers.
Savini’s ties with the Factory run deep, as the film school is part of the Douglas Education Center in Monessen, Pa, alongside the Tom Savini Special Make-up Effects Program. “Whenever possible I try to work alongside the students at Dec, but in this instance...

Spring is approaching Chicago. But you still have time for one more fling before everything dead comes alive again. This weekend Fangoria Weekend of Horrors brings Tobe Hooper, George Romero, and Herschell Gordon Lewis to town. I’ve always wanted to meet Hooper and Lewis is just a treat to listen to. Lots of other guests and a fabulous Masters of Italian Horror Panel with Ruggero Deodato (Cannibal Holocaust, Cut And Run, House On The Edge Of The Park), Lamberto Bava (Demons 1-2, Ghost Son, MacAbro) and FX artist/director Sergio Stivaletti (Wax Mask, Dellamorte Dellamore, Mother Of Tears) round out a solid but not over packed program. Conventions these days just have too many @#$% autograph tables.
