The Sherman Station is honored to have Civil War General Lloyd Nolan visiting. Nolan is being talked about as a potential presidential candidate and he was also John Smith's commanding officer in the late war. Accompanying him is daughter Joanna Barnes and various aides, military and political.
Nolan had the reputation of being an irascible sort in the army and he's the same as a civilian, not letting the political handlers like Herbert Rudley dictate to him. That's going to cause him problems the most immediate one is someone is trying to assassinate him.
Until the 19th century ended the Republican party ran a series of Civil War veterans as Presidential candidates. So did the Democrats one year in 1880 with Winfield Scott Hancock. But until 1892 Wyoming couldn't vote in the presidential elections because it was a territory. So Spring Byington's promise of votes from the Sherman household was a bit hollow.
Still not a bad story.
