After lots of surgery, Winchester decides to play his French horn, much to the dismay of his bunkmates. In protest, they decide to go on a cleanliness strike, not showering for days. This leads to all types of complications in the camp. They manage to alienate just about everyone in the camp. They can't even eat in peace. Meanwhile, a man who has had an accident when his gun discharged, is left with a crushed cheekbone. He can't face coming home disfigured and makes an attempt on his life. Potter finally resorts to some pretty harsh love. Eventually, the shenanigans of the surgeons cause enough distraction to be dangerous. This has one of the best conclusions of any episode.

Warning: Spoilers
The ending was a turning point, with Charles giving a smile when his tuba comes back unworkable! It demonstrated the writers could work with Charles beyond the Frank persona.
In this episode, Potter also gives tough love to a patient who wants to end it all.
