All About Eve
Rrrobert19 November 2019
Fun All About Eve type story.

Gloria Munson (Linda Kelsey) imposes herself on Mary claiming to be the sister of Mary's classmate from high school (who Mary can't even remember) and soon asks about jobs in TV. Mary helpfully invites Gloria for a studio tour. Gloria quickly ingratiates herself with Ted and Sue Ann, is promptly a stand-in on Sue Ann's show, then with help of her biggest 'fan', station manager Ed Schroeder (Ron Rifkin), sees her role on the show rapidly expand, while Sue Ann fumes.

The episode neatly sets-up the MTM regulars attending Rhoda's wedding in the spin-off Rhoda. Ted Knight was conspicuously absent from that episode. Not sure why.

All About Eve Redux
Hitchcoc20 February 2017
Mary is invaded by the sister of someone she went to high school with (whom she can't remember). She is a vixen, played by Linda Kelsey who would later be on the "Lou Grant Show." She is ambitious and pushy, an opportunist. When her wiles don't work at first, she ends up honing in on Sue Ann Nivens, pretty much taking over her show. Not only that, she starts dating the program director. Sue Ann is not one to let this happen. She is soon conniving and manipulating. She is so evil but just hilarious. But you know that Sue Ann is going to find a way.

Betty White does her magic

If you only knew Betty White from her earlier shows (several '50s sitcoms, one of TV's earliest talk shows), you might be astounded by her diametrically oposed Sue Ann Nivens. The reverse is almost as true, seeing what a sweet, wholesome character she portrayed in her earlier days.

For me, Sue Ann was Betty's masterpiece, the sarcasm, the thinly-veiled venom, the frequent desperation.
