Manuel here to try and help us catch up with the barrage of new film posters (and trailers!) that have dropped these past few days. It’s hard to keep up, what with Cannes, Eurovision, singing along with the Barden Bellas and furiously following Mad Max. Here are six posters you may have missed:
Musically Inclined: A #Tbt double feature
The Sundance hit (review here) gets an appropriately 90s-tinged and sunny poster that features a pretty fun tagline (“It’s hard out there for a geek”) while the film adaptation of the gloriously 80s cartoon gets a Snapchatty poster (telling you everything you need to know about its intended audience) which looks as broody as that underwhelming first trailer.
Tearjerkers: Docs to sob to
Word from Cannes was pretty ecstatic about the former and for those who loved Senna and Amy Winehouse this should come as no surprise; knowing this,...

Ryan Reynolds has been making young cancer patients' dreams come true on the set of Deadpool.
The actor has been working with the Make-a-Wish Foundation to help young children meet their favourite comic book character.
Tony Acevedo asked Make A Wish Foundation if he could meet Deadpool. I wasn't expecting him to sneak the mask, put on the gloves, smile... and then beat Deadpool about the face, arms and jugular with blazing speed. Tony's next fight is with Hodgkin's Disease. One and a half months after her 16th birthday, Regina Diane Nicholson, from Long Beach, California, was diagnosed with an osteosarcoma, a malignant, cancerous, bone tumor that usually develops in teenagers and young adults when they are growing rapidly. Many first complain of pain which may be worse at night. Those active in sports, may complain of pain in their lower femur, or right below their knee. A pathological bone fracture may also be a first sign or symptom, as the bones may not be as strong as they normally would be.
Regina, or Reggie, handles her diagnosis with maturity and humor, and seeing as she has a passion for films and filmmaking, decides to document her experience, the disease process, and the impact it has on her family, friends, and healthcare providers.
In her film, “Farewell to Hollywood,” she compares the anguish she is experiencing, to the intensity, rawness, and violence exhibited in Quentin Tarantino’s, “Pulp Fiction,” often cutting to scenes from the 1994, action thriller. A film enthusiast through and through, Reggie has film posters all over her bedroom walls and even “Made a Wish” with the “Make a Wish” Foundation and was allowed to be an extra on the film set of Kevin Smith’s “Red State."
.
Good natured, with only good intentions demonstrated in the film, director Henry Corra, met the then 17 year old filmmaker, Regina (Reggie) Nicholson at a film festival, and agreed to help her make her feature film. As Reggie turned 18, her parents had conflicting emotions about Reggie becoming an adult and her desire to branch out, creating an independent life for herself, which would mean, she would be moving out of their house, getting her own work space, completing the film, all the while, continuing to receive treatment while documenting the film. Everyone handles stress differently.
The film carries the viewer through the difficult decisions that this young adult female has to make. You will see how she copes, the medications that she chooses to take, the surgeries she chooses to undergo, what and who makes her happy, who she appoints as her healthcare proxy, and how she and her caretaker decide to carry out her end of life care. The film should raise awareness to the fact that we should all appoint a healthcare proxy (someone who would make healthcare decisions for you in the event you are unable to make them yourself), even at a young age
In the film, she often shows herself swinging on a swing over a cliff and the sea in Southern California, where she appears to be very free and happy.
Regina is a very brave woman who knows what and who makes her happy and knows how to live life to the fullest.
This award-winning documentary has screened at numerous international film festivals including Idfa, Hot Springs Doc Fest and Thessaloniki Documentary Festival.
The film will open in New York at Cinema Village on Wednesday, February 25 , 2015 (the day of Reggie Nicholson’s birthday),
and at the Noho 7 in Los Angeles on Friday, March 13, 2015.
A national release will follow.

The story of Miles Scott's day as Batkid is to be turned into a feature film by Julia Roberts...
In all the time we've been doing this site, one of the most heartwarming stories we've reported on is that of Miles Scott becoming Batkid for day. Miles had been diagnosed with lymphoblastic leukaemia at the age of 18 months, and had undergone years of brutal treatment. But when he got to five years old, the Make A Wish Foundation arranged a very special treat.
With the help of a flood of volunteers, San Francisco become Gotham City for one day, and Miles got to be Batkid, saving the city from some infamous Batman villains. Thousands turned out to support him, and by the end of the day, Barack Obama had sent a video Tweet to join in the fun.

"Captain America: The Winter Soldier" star Anthony Mackie and "Dear White People" director Justin Simien are attached to direct "Make A Wish," a comedy based on the Black List script by Zach Frenkel.
Mackie will play Butchie Jones, a football star who wants to grant the final wish of a dying fourteen-year-old who adores the gridironer. It’s not an easy wish, though; the kid wants the football star to help him score with a girl before he dies. [Source: Deadline]
Creed
Tessa Thompson ("Dear White People," "Selma") has scored the female lead role in MGM's "Rocky" spinoff "Creed". Details of her role in the Ryan Coogler-directed project are unknown.
Thompson will star alongside Michael B. Jordan as the grandson of Apollo Creed, a kid raised in the lap of luxury, who has a natural instinct for boxing and pursues a career in the sweet science, against his family's wishes.

After making his feature directorial debut with the poignant and hilarious satire Dear White People this year, director Justin Simien is ready to head into more broad comedy. Deadline reports Paramount Pictures has picked up the 2013 Black Listed comedy script Make a Wish from first-time writer Zach Frenkel with Simien attached to direct. In addition, Captain America: The Winter Soldier star Anthony Mackie will star in the film as Butchie Jones, a football star who wants to grant the final wish of a dying 14-year-old who adores the athlete. However, his dying wish isn't just to meet the football player. Read on! The real wish from the teenager is that he wants the football player to help him get laid before he dies. That certainly sounds like it could be full of inappropriate but hilarious humor, but maybe even have some heart as well. Mackie has proven to be a...

Marvel announced so much news on Tuesday morning at the El Capitan theater in Hollywood, it's difficult to know where to start: A two-part Avengers 3? Official confirmation that Iron Man and Captain America will do battle in a Civil War saga? More exploration of the cosmic realm in Inhumans? It was also a major announcement in terms of diversity. Has Zac moved on from Michelle Rodriguez?!
Zac Efron was seen jetting from Los Angeles to Copenhagen on Sunday, with his rumored new fling, Sami Miro.

While not much is known about Miro, one thing is for sure: she is not an actress, unlike Michelle Rodriguez, with whom Efron was often photographed this summer. In fact, Miro works in Los Angeles at Demand Media Studios, a content company.
This is not the first time Efron, who turns 27 on Saturday, has spent time with Miro. The could-be-couple also caught a Dodger game together last month!
Before leaving the country, the Neighbors star surprised a lucky fan with a car – his own first car to be exact. The fan, Laura Lopez, won the vehicle that Zac auctioned in support of the Make a Wish Foundation

Last November, something big happened for a 5-year-old cancer patient. It started as a kind gesture by Make A Wish Foundation, and turned into a media phenomenon that proved not all of the world was without kindness. Miles Scott, for one day in San Francisco, was able to transcend his illness and become a verifiable superhero: Bat Kid. After cleaning up the streets and putting criminals like The Riddler and The Penguin behind bars, what's a hero to do? What any other hero would do: have their heroic story told for all to see. Deadline Hollywood broke the trailer for Batkid Begins, a crowdfunded documentary that covers Miles' story from his diagnosis at 18 months to his recent heroic escapade at five years of age. What was supposed to be a simple crowd of 200 people gathered to help make a child's dream a realty became a huge story that attracted the...

Anybody who reads my WWE reviews know that I’m not a Cena fan. When I write them though one thing I do is to not let my opinion on him bias my view on the actual release, I will mention if his performance affected the match for me, but I will also point out if his performance was good (and many times it is). If anything, I just don’t like the way that WWE market him and constantly push him in our faces as the “Superman” of WWE. John Cena is not marketed for a fan like me, he is a wrestler that has been toned down for kids, and they love him. The company know how to use the Cena product and make money, so that is how things have to be. When looking at WWE: The John Cena Experience some would say this should be my worst nightmare,...

Fair Oaks, Calif. (AP) — Kevin Sharp, a country music singer who recorded multiple chart-topping songs and survived a well-publicized battle with cancer, has died. He was 43. His sister Mary Huston said Sharp died at his mother's Fair Oaks, Calif., home, at 10:49 p.m. Saturday of complications from past stomach surgeries and digestive issues. "He had a strong heart, that's what kept him alive, (but) I'm so happy for him, that there's no more suffering," Huston said through tears and exhaustion. She had cared for her brother since his return home to Northern California last Friday after 10 weeks in the hospital. Sharp gained fame with the release of "Nobody Knows," a single on his 1996 debut album, "Measure of a Man." He released two other albums, "Love Is" in 1998 and "Make A Wish" in 2005. Born in 1970 in Redding, Calif., Sharp was diagnosed with Ewing's sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer,...

Rocky is likely to be a Broadway success – so which of Sly's other films deserve the song and dance treatment?
Rocky is far from the first movie to be turned into a Broadway musical, but it might be the most unexpected. Ever since Sylvester Stallone and the Klitschko brothers announced their plan to inject Stallone's plucky underdog story with the requisite razzle-dazzle to make it fly on stage, the project has piqued curiosity like little else.
If the musical turns out to be a hit – and, judging by the superlative reviews it received when it debuted in Germany two years ago, it's likely – then the next step is already painfully obvious. Sylvester Stallone is a man who made five separate sequels to Rocky. The idea of restraint is completely alien to him. If people go and see a Rocky musical, he's bound to flood the market with musicals based on his other films.

There are a lot of great wrestling podcasts out there these days. Not only that, but you can find several of them at the same place as part of Podcast One. The great Steve Austin was the first one to get a Podcast One show, which turned out to be a great idea because he’s a natural at it. From there, Chris Jericho got a show. Then Jim Ross got one. Then WWE started doing one too. What it means for us wrestling fans is we can get a lot of great insight into the business we love from the people that we watched on our TV screens all our lives.
Recently, Steve Austin was a guest on the Jim Ross podcast (they talked for over two hours) and they covered a lot of different topics including some things related to happenings currently in WWE.

Current Spider-Man star Andrew Garfield has slammed reports in the media over the past day about the events regarding a pulled Oscars segment to honor five-year-old cancer survivor Miles Scott (aka. 'Batkid').
AMPAS confirmed that an appearance from Garfield and 'Batkid' at this year's Oscars was scrapped at the last minute. Miles' family had travelled to Los Angeles for the segment, but on the day of the ceremony (this past Sunday) they're were advised plans had changed.
Originally the pair were going to be a part of "moving moment" in the show which was to "illustrate the theme of how movies have inspired" the shows producer Neil Meron said last month. Essentially AMPAS and Make a Wish planned to make him an "official superhero" during the ceremony.
Instead, the original segment was cut and the slot was replaced by Chris Evans introducing a 'movie hero' montage. The reason for the...

Before your Spidey senses start tingling about something shady surrounding Andrew Garfield and Miles Scott's (Batkid) planned appearance at the Oscars - which was scrapped at the last minute - the Academy has weighed in on what happened.
"The Amazing Spider-Man" star was supposed to present at Sunday's show with Miles - the 5-year-old San Francisco boy with cancer, who won over the world's heart when he dressed as the caped crusader as part of a Make A Wish event last November - but their appearance had to be cut from the show.

I have to be honest, I’ve never been a big John Cena fan, but just recently I’ve been having a perceptible shift in my opinion towards him. I think it started after I saw him wrestle live for the first time back in November in London, at a WWE house show at the O2 Arena.
He was going one on one for what seemed to be about the hundredth time with Alberto Del Rio, who I have to say I think is duller than dishwater but somebody must see something in him, and while I personally didn’t think the match was anything particularly special, it was his addressing of the crowd afterwards that made me begin my rethink.
I’ll admit that I’ve always been the first to throw accusations at Cena of not being a great wrestler, which may be slightly unfair, and of not...

The horror community is a small and really tight-knit group of people. When one of us is hurting, we all hurt; and that's why whenever we're given a chance to help, we jump at it. Such is the case with a young Godzilla fan named Maddex.
From the Godzilla-Movies community forums:
In April 2013, my son Maddex was diagnosed with Leukemia. He is currently undergoing treatments and is thankfully moving along as planned. Godzilla films and toys have helped Maddex cope with the trials of life as a boy with leukemia.
Make A Wish has offered him a wish to be granted, his wish is to be Godzilla for a day. He wants "people to run away", to crush buildings, fight other monsters (Destroyah, Mecha Godzilla, and Baragon), and hear the 1954 theme song. Make A Wish is very excited to have this opportunity to grant his wish and want to do...

The latest glimpse at the feature adaptation of John Green.s novel The Fault in our Stars follows a similar trend as the previous two images in showing stars Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort . playing Hazel and Gus respectively . taking a moment to appreciate each others company affectionately. The Fault in our Stars centers on Hazel, a terminally ill teen who meets Gus at a support group for kids fighting cancer. The above image comes to us from EW and shows Hazel and Gus sharing a moment at the Anne Frank house during their trip to Amsterdam. As the site points out, Gus used his Make a Wish to take Hazel to Amsterdam so they could track down her favorite author. During the trip, they visit Anne Frank.s house and share a very memorable romantic moment. This is actually the second look at Amsterdam we.ve seen from the...

Every love story has that one kiss fans don’t quickly (if ever) forget. For The Fault In Our Stars, it all takes place in Amsterdam.
When Gus uses his Make a Wish to take Hazel to Amsterdam so that she can speak with her favorite author, Mr. Van Houten, the adorable couple also take a trip to Anne Frank’s house while they are in town. Needless to say, what happens there was much more magical than anything Mr. Van Houten ever wrote.

Taylon Davis, 12, has an inoperable brain tumor, and her dying wish was to be able to dance with her idol, Beyonce. Not only did Taylon get to sit front row at a Mrs. Carter World Tour concert and hug the diva, she got to perform Destiny’s Child’s power anthem, ‘Survivor,’ with Beyonce!
Beyonce helped her young fan, Taylon Davis, 12, receive her wish: the girl, who suffers from a rare form of bone cancer called osteosarcoma, wanted to meet her idol and sing with her. Beyonce and the Make A Wish Foundation organized a wish that Taylon would be able to come to a Mrs. Carter Show World Tour in Las Vegas, and sing and dance along with Beyonce.

We didn’t know it when docu-helmer Errol Morris (The Thin Blue Line, The Unknown Known) signed up for it last July, but by the looks of several industry players, he might have landed on the best screenplay of the bunch.
The annual “The Black List” unveiled its “favorite unproduced screenplays” of the year, and ranking at the top with a slim margin of a lead was Andrew Sodroski’s Holland, Michigan – a project that should begin lensing in April of next year with Naomi Watts possibly toplining. The second place top vote-getter got a lot more than a set of steak knifes this year. The out-of-nowhere, complete obscurity to huge pay day Section 6 by first time scribe Aaron Berg garnered huge interest towards the end of the year and should be jettisoned into production by the Universal folks – look for big name talent to be attached sometime in...

With all the mindless sequels and reboots that Hollywood has churned out over the last few years, it’s always nice when something original and well-written can break through and get a studio release. Unfortunately, many quality scripts can spend years without ever reaching the right executive to give it the green light. In an effort to make the process a little bit better, former production executive Franklin Leonard started The Black List in 2004. Today, the site announced its ninth annual list of the best unproduced scripts.
To come up with the list, nominations are received from over 250 executives. If a film gets 6 nominations, it gets a spot on the list. The more executives that nominate it, the higher on the list it is. Production for last year’s top film, Draft Day, is underway with the theatrical release scheduled for April, so there’s a pretty good chance that...

I hate calling Survivor: Blood Vs. Water an “emotional season” since that was, y’know, precisely the point. When family members and loved ones are pitted against each other on an island ruled by a crazed Eddie Bauer shift manager named Jeff Probst, tears will be shed. Rupert Boneham will monologue about loving his wife more than he loves Survivor. John will weep when he decides not to take Candice‘s place on Redemption Island. Ciera will quiver and cry when mentoring her mother to her own demise. Monica Culpepper will liberate herself from her brickbrained husband and announce she is doing this “for Monica!”, as if “Monica” is a Make A Wish child she once met. These were all preordained Hallmark moments.
But I wasn’t quite prepared to sympathize so much with the season’s winner, who not only deserved the million dollars but established some humanity that I happily fell for.

Jimmy Carr has admitted that he tones down his act when performing at the Royal Variety Performance.
The charitable event - which will air tonight on ITV - was attended by Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cambridge this year, but Carr confirmed he would never use his most controversial material at the show.
"Obviously you have to tone it down," he told Digital Spy backstage. "I'm filthy. Have you seen my shows? It's disgusting. I'm ashamed."
Carr added: "It's a weird thing where everyone is in black tie this evening and suited and booted and dressed up to the nines and you're performing for a slightly older crowd.
"The people that come to see my shows... it's a good age spread, but it tends to be lots of young people that come and see my shows.
"But here it's slightly older and more mature and, 'Ooh, yes, hmm, that's a little bit rude'.

No, German Angst is not a Uwe Boll biopic, although that would seem pretty damned appropriate. What we have here, kids, is a new anthology film featuring the works of Jorg Buttgereit (Nekromantik, Der Todesking), Andreas Marchall (Tears of Kali, Masks), and Michael Kosakowoski (Zero Killed).
In 1920 Germany became the most influential production location for fantastic films. Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau’s Nosferatu, Robert Wiene’s The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari and The Hands of Orlac, Paul Wegener’s The Golem earned the German cinema the label The Demonic Screen (Lotte H. The Make A Wish Foundation is turning San Francisco into Gotham City...
This is lovely. A five-year old by the name of Miles is about to have his dream made a reality, courtesy of the wonderful Make-a-Wish Foundation. Miles, who is a leukaemia patient, has a wish that today will be coming true: he wants to be Batkid.
And here's what's in store for him.
Miles' day will start with San Francisco's Police Chief asking if anyone knows where Batkid can be found, as there's crime to fight and villains to capture. Various crimes are being set up around the city for Miles' Batkid - along with an adult Batman - to solve. So, the Riddler will be robbing a vault, someone will need saving from the cable car tracks, and a crowd of volunteers will be on hand to cheer for Batkid's help.

The name “Coach” worked on many levels in Tuesday’s episode. Relationship Coach, specializing in how not to treat your girlfriend. Basketball Coach, with an emphasis on how to grind Winston’s gears. Strip Club Coach, expertise: how to spend your Bunny Money (okay, that was more Winston’s forte). Suffice it to say, Coach is not just a beloved ’90s sitcom anymore. And that’s just the tip of the Damon Wayans, Jr.-shaped iceberg, Newbies. While you debate in the comments whether Coach’s return measured up to expectations, I shall get to the recapping.

This clip from a scrapped Kanye West HBO pilot, uploaded in 2010 as part of actress Alison Quinn's online reel, has the rapper riffing with a "dying Make a Wish kid." Back in 2008, we guessed that eventually a leaked pilot from the Untitled Kanye West HBO Project would appear online, and it appears Kanye also made our wish come true. Larry Charles, one of the show's executive producers (alongside Kanye himself and Rick Rubin), calls the project, "roughly Kanye's version of Curb Your Enthusiasm," "an idea Kanye thought up himself." Charles goes on to say Kanye also told him, "I'm the black Larry David." While he's granting wishes, we'd also like to know what happened to the puppet show.
