Funniest yet of season two

Warning: Spoilers
Yes, the Cops episode of Earl is my favorite of the season so far. So many great lines. My favorite was "You had me at...." (well you know what he said). You had to love it when the school bell was heard just as Tim was being interviewed by the cop. And with the following week's episode -- My Name is Everybody Else on the Show -- they are clearly clicking on all cylinders. So many shows do badly with famous guest stars. Not Earl. That lady from Drew was hysterical in this one. Be sure to watch when everybody's singing the Cops theme song. Even then Randy isn't able to get it right. Classic. My only minor complaint about this episode is that Crabman was apparently living with his grandmother. That doesn't seem to fit in with his undercover past. Maybe they'll explain that later. Still, a ten from this reviewer.

Car 54, Where Are You?

Warning: Spoilers
Another triumph for the "My Name is Earl" team, proving again that this is easily the funniest show currently on television.

This time the gang gathers at the Crab Shack to watch "their" episode of "COPS" from back in the days before the list before Earl learned about karma and used to have fun stealing things. Everybody from previous shows seems to have come back to play a part in this one--Officer Stuart Daniels (Earl later had his badge); Kenny (at this point still in the closet, but screaming to get out!); Willie the Mailman (we find out how he lost that eye!); Donnie Jones; the Electrolarynx guy, the one legged woman from the dough nut shop and many more, including "The Drew Carey Show" veteran Kathy Kinney as Officer Bobbi Bowman (much funnier than she ever was on "Drew").

The main stars also get a lot of great stuff to do as Earl steals a cop car (Joy asks him to play some Wu-Tang Clan on the radio, Earl asks when she got into rap music and Joy immediately denies she's cheating on him!) and he and Joy have sex in the back seat. Randy gets stuck in a tree and has to be tranquilized and Darnell is caught hiding in the leaves after Bowman discovers he has a room full of pot plants.

Also very funny is the bit involving the town's one celebrity: show producer and episode writer Tim Stack, playing himself as a drunk, still dressed in his "Son of a Beach" Baywatch outfit. As funny as this bit is, it's a little out of place in this episode and it seemed a little forced on our "Earl" gang. But only a little. The episode remains a season two highlight and a real classic.

Tim Stack drunkenly disputes IMDb
johj5 January 2007
In this hilarious parody of "Cops," comic actor Tim Stack appears as himself, pulled over for a DUI, as his car serpentines past a grammar school.

He drunkenly boasts to the star-struck officer that he has "63" entries on IMDb--but angrily claims to have been cheated on the total. It seems the site only counts his 1981 appearance on a two-parter "Quincy" episode as a single entry.

Later, when his vehicle is found by another cop crashed against a telephone pole, Stack woozily rolls down his window and tries to order fast food.

Funny (and hopefully untrue)stuff.

What a Goof! Great show overall!!

Warning: Spoilers
I noticed at least one item that made it into the show, that probably shouldn't have:

When the older white cop gets out of the car at the liquor store, the door SLAMS his face... but he plays it off and completes the scene! Good work!

AND THE TIM STACK LINES!!! "I've got 62 IMDb items, but it sucks because they counted my Quincy role as only one!"

We were high-fiving all around! Especially when they shot Randy out of the tree! ROTFLMAO!!!

This "Earl" is one of the better eps in a long time!

Yeah.
I don't watch this show often. It's in syndication now, and I'm a casual fan of the guy's new show Raising Hope, so I catch Earl sometimes when I'm home and it's being show in the afternoon on one the crap local channels.

I usually don't get into it and it serves as nothing more than background sound most of the time, but this episode made me laugh my balls clean off. Tim Stack, Mike O'Malley and Kathy Kinnie all have great guest spots and Jaime Pressly especially kills it in this one. The direction is great as it captures the feel of an actual COPS episode (one of the worst TV shows of all-time in my opinion, and one of the most bafflingly popular phenomenons in this country) and the writing is very quick. The plot moves along at a great pace and the dialogue never ceases to be hilarious.

Easily the best episode of the show that I've seen. Maybe I'll start watching this more often. It's either this or Dr. Drew, and seriously, f-ck that guy.
