Somewhat tolerable, for a low budget zombie movie
krachtm7 December 2012
The plot: two zombies go on a road-trip and try to find one's ex-girlfriend to profess his love.

This is a pretty stupid ripoff of Shaun of the Dead, but, unfortunately for me, I've seen much worse. As far as low budget, independent zombie movies go, this is actually one of the more tolerable entries. That's not saying much when your competition is The Dead Hate The Living and Dance of the Dead. Still, there were appealing aspects to it, and it had some degree of charm, I guess. I'm a bit tired of self-aware hipster nerds in zombie comedies, though. Especially when there's a romantic subplot.

If you like movies that are basically just a couple of goofy nerds spouting off pop culture references and movie quotes, then I'm sure you'll find this amusing. Otherwise, I'd advise that you skip it. Instead, just watch Shaun of the Dead again.

Average comedy, not good, but not too bad
Daath20 November 2011
I had to write a short review of this. Some of the top reviews of this movie is obviously made by someone affiliated with the movie in some way.

The movie is mildly entertaining. The plot is the main guy that wants to declare his love for his old girlfriend. The side-story is about an old guy who wants to spread his dead wife's ashes by some shore or other. The side-plot isn't executed very successfully. The acting is OK, although the side-kick gets to be annoying.

I was hoping for a few laughs, but I didn't laugh once in the course of this movie. It was a bit funny at times. So I smiled, and that's it.

If you have nothing else to do, or if you REALLY like zombie-themed movies by all means see it. You're not gonna walk away very satisfied though.

I managed to sit though it's entirety. I'm starting to think that I should have spent it sleeping instead.

Goodnight!

I had a few laughs
trashgang23 November 2011
I can understand that people really liked this zombedy. But it is just a few weeks ago that I saw two other US comedies namely, Vampires Su*k and Tucker and Dale vs Evil. It was very simple, Vampire Su*k was indeed a big su*k but Tucker was hilarious. Why, because it had stupid situations and misunderstandings. People who knew me know that I'm not into Us comedies except a few like Tucker. Sadly Deadheads failed for me.

I had a few laughs, for example the gym with the zombie they called Cheese. that was funny, but ripping off an arm and putting it back on place to move further isn't funny anymore. On the other hand there are a few good things too, I was looking forward for McDinkle (Benjamin Webster). He's the kind of guy you all know, I had a few laughs with him but the main characters weren't convincing. It isn't all comedy, in fact, it's a love story between a guy being killed and turned into a zombie going to find his love. But they never got into stupid situations. On the gory part there is more to see, there are a few good things to see like the decapitation.

My mouth moved a few times but not enough to call it great. With Tucker for example I was laughing out loud. I'm sure that it will have his fans but this time I didn't dig it, sorry.

Not anywhere near Shaun of the Dead
Auralys20 November 2011
This movie was so terrible that I couldn't even finish watching it. The acting was forced, and extremely cliché. The two main characters are a stereotypical comedic pair. One is extremely dorky and over the top and the main character is the straight man. But I did not feel any chemistry, and nothing they did seemed to fit together.

The jokes were not very clever or interesting. Relying mainly on sex jokes and wacky lines that are meant to be controversial, or at least elicit some sort of jerk reaction. They failed horribly.

I am not sure why this was compared to Shaun of the Dead as it doesn't have any of the charm, pacing or cleverness possessed by that movie. I love zombie movies, but this just made me very, very sad.

The action side story, seemed a lot more interesting. But then again, this movie was supposed to be interesting because of it being from the point of view of the zombies.

Surprisingly Good
joe-hedges29 December 2011
Deadheads is both a zombie movie and a love story about two zombies who go on a cross-country road trip to reconnect with a girlfriend from their waking life. It is far better than one might expect from the premise.

I am not particularly interested in zombie movies so I was pleased to find that Deadheads had characters with very human motivations; several times during the film I found myself caring for Michael McKiddy's character, despite his zombie appearance.

One great thing about the film is its self-awareness. The directors, and actors know they are making a zombie love story, and they embrace the ridiculousness of that fact completely. The movie is all about fun--there are many pop-culture references, references to other movies, and a lot of extremely vulgar humor and absurd situations that could only happen in an independent film. There is however, just enough sentimentality to keep it human and down to earth. In other words, if you make your girlfriend watch only one zombie movie this year, make this the one--it has enough echoes of romantic comedy to appeal to a larger audience. With that said, I am confident I am the target demographic: a male who grew up loving 80's movies.

There are several scenes that seem a little too long but overall the pacing is good, the action is exciting, and the length felt right. Deadheads is not going to change the world. But if you have an interest in humor, gore, and want to be entertained for an hour and a half it is worth your time.

Dumbest comedy ever
Leofwine_draca23 March 2015
DEADHEADS is, I guess, trying to be a US spin on SHAUN OF THE DEAD, a well-remember British zombie comedy. The twist in this film is that the protagonists themselves are zombies, gradually rotting away as they travel the USA in search of a lost love.

I don't really see much potential in that premise and unsurprisingly this turns out to be complete garbage thanks to the script. It's trying to be one of those stoner comedies, full of self-referencing and dumb humour. The dialogue is littered with swearing throughout but the writers/directors are no Tarantino - every line sounds hollow and badly written. Even worse, none of it is funny, none of it even raised a slight chuckle.

Sure, there are gore effects galore here - played for laughs, of course - and lots of zombie-shooting incident, but it's all familiar and, dare I say it, predictable. For me, there's nothing worse than an unfunny comedy, which is why I give this two thumbs down.

Two rotting thumbs up for this movie...
paul_haakonsen20 November 2011
I didn't know about this movie at all before I stumbled upon it by sheer luck. I glanced at the poster and then read something about it being similar to "Shaun of the Dead", and of course, being the zombie aficionado that I am, I just had to give this movie a go.

The story is quite nice, with Mike (played by Michael McKiddy) and Brent (Ross Kidder), two zombies on a roadtrip across the country to get Mike back with his beloved former girlfriend. They befriend both living and undead along the way; Cliff (played by Harry Burkey) and Cheese (played by Markus Taylor). The group gets into all kinds of situations and the movie is filled with cool one-liners and lots of laughs.

"DeadHeads" surprised me as it was quite good, had a catchy and good story, and also had really nice make-up and effects. The zombies in the movie were looking great, and the make-up on Cheese, in particular, was fabulous. Also the undead-look given to Mike and Brent was quite good.

The movie have some really unique and outrageous characters, and it is characters that you will remember for a long time, especially McDinkle (played by Benjamin Webster). He was off the charts.

Now, "DeadHeads" is a comedy first and foremost, and the zombies are just a backdrop, a supplement to the real story. But still, if you liked "Shaun of the Dead", then bets are that you will enjoy this movie as well. It is not entirely up to the level of "Shaun of the Dead", but it does make a good effort, and it is entertaining.

I have recently suffered through two really bad zombie movies, so "DeadHeads" were a nice upbeat experience, and it did approach the zombie genre in a great way. The tribute to "The Evil Dead" was quite tasteful.

I saw only a single flaw in the movie, and that was Mike and Brent's steamy breath in the night scenes. Zombies weren't supposed to be breathing, so that was a blooper. Sure it is a minor flaw, and truth be told, it was the only thing that was bad about the movie.

Thumbs up for "DeadHeads", well worth a watch if you like comedies or want a light-hearted approach to the zombie genre.

Warning: Spoilers
Stupid beyond belief. I didn't laugh at all, even though this is supposedly a comedy. Perhaps it's because I was educated beyond the 4th grade and have outgrown what were the equivalent of fart jokes. I'm not saying fart jokes can't be funny, but when you get the same fart joke told a dozen times, you don't laugh. Incoherent and inconsistent storyline, a sidekick that you hoped would get run over, or at least have his annoying, screeching tongue cut out, another zombie "sidekick" who served no purpose whatsoever, unless it was to remind us of the zombie friend from Shaun of the Dead, a human helping them who was mysteriously ignored by the full-blown zombie despite multiple scenes earlier in the film where zombies chased down the humans and ate them, guys in bio-hazard suits that were clearly too stupid to be given any lines beyond "Shut the f*** up", and every human they encountered ignoring the fact that 3 of them had gray skin and blood all over themselves. And finally a tender moment at the end that was utterly ridiculous, but thankfully signaled the end of the movie.

A worthy entry in an admitted over-saturated genre
tim_sparks19 March 2012
Warning: Spoilers
There are a BILLION zombie movies out there all the way from the truly excellent to the truly excrement. Some are just to show some nudity. Some are just to show someone's attempt at social commentary. Some are because some up and coming FX guy has a talent-boner he wants to thrust into our collective cosmic cine-a-vaginas. Or some video editing genius needs to show something for the 5,000 megazillion hours he spend on his awesome computer. In his momma's basement? Probably not but you get the point.

Sometimes a movie comes along that manages to combine some comedy, some drama, some shennanigans, and some pathos. And give you a darn good zombie movie. When it does so on a modest budget it's all the more surprising.

Deadheads is a movie like that. You have a nice twist on the genre at the start. I like how at one point the classic people in the house fighting off the outside zombie menace has two unique tweaks to the situation. I like how they actually add life to some of the characters that are not in the movie very long.

I like how there wasn't 45 million dollars spent on CGI effects that ended up looking horrible.

I like the over the top scenery chewing by.. I think his name is Dinkle or something.. the asshole with the mustache. The sidekick is a little over the top at times but it's always hard to get the formula perfectly right in a buddy movie like this one. They come pretty darn close.

It didn't quite all tie up at the end perfectly, but it does quite a bit better than most zombie movies. It's no Walking Dead but it's certainly no Return of the Living Dead part 4 either!

I watched it, I rather liked it, I'd even watch it again. It is NOT one of the multitude of Zombie DVDs that flies into the trash can amidst a hail of obscenities. Check it out! You'll be glad you did.

My only gripe is: not enough nudity. As in No Nudity. Which makes my pants sad. So I gotta subtract 1 from its potential rating.

Very Sad and Pathetic
BitterJim14 December 2011
Outside of the fact this film borrows from every unoriginal overused cliché joke and situation, it is almost insulting at how unfunny it is, while it clumsily tries to be funny. You know these people are beginners when its a zombie film. Simon Pegg wring a bell? And thats about all this film has in common with Pegg.

The acting was very mediocre and boring. The sidekick was a typical, cliché, annoying and idiotic side kick, playing off of his "straightman" buddy, who possesses about as much charisma as a pear.

What I actually find most insulting, though, is the pathetic attempts to beef this movie up, by the makers of the movie, who dishonestly compared it to Shaun of the Dead, and wrote fake reviews here on IMDb and on Amazon as well.

For instance..look at the reviews...if it isn't a 1 star review, its a 10 star review. And not just a 10 star review, but titles to those reviews all in capitol letters, accented with several exclamation points.

"GREATEST FILM EVER IN THE UNIVERSE OF TIME AND SPACE CONTINUUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" That is a trick to grab your attention, folks. And there are several of these made up reviews. Ask yourself...how excited could someone possibly get over a B movie no one has heard of? If such a film could generate this kind of hysteria and praise from a random public, we would have heard about it on television or some much larger media.

These 10 star reviews were made by people within the film itself..the actors, to promote their careers, the producers, to promote their product, etc...

This film is nothing like Feeding Frenzy, a phenomenon of itself, and as another reviewer brought up, the very funny and original Tucker and Dale vs. Evil.

This film was yet another boring, unoriginal, tired and cliché movie that just Happens to sort of be about zombies. Sure, they thought making zombies the main characters would be sort of original...but its already been done, actually. And nothing is original about how the two zombies act. You've seen it before in several buddy movies...over...and over...and over...and over again.

Please do not watch this thing. Do not support these actors or film makers. And please ignore the inflated, exaggerated claims and reviews by the film makers and cast themselves...it is just a desperate and pathetic attempt to inflate the last thing they should ever do in film.

Excellent Horror/Comedy
Its very rare that you come across a Horror/Comedy film with a decent budget and good actors, its even more rare to come across one that is fresh and original. "Deadheads" has all that and more.

The story is something pretty new that hasn't ever really been done this well before. It moves a long at a very nice pace and it definitely didn't contain any dull moments. There were plenty of laugh out loud scenes and the gore was a nice touch. The ending was very unbelievable and over the top but that was easily forgivable since the film was so good.

The acting was surprisingly very good, some of the characters were a little corny but it was obvious that they set out to make them that way. Cheese stole the show!

"DeadHeads" is a hilarious Horror/Comedy that deserves a lot of credit. The best Horror/Comedy since Shaun Of The Dead. 9/10

Hope and Crosby's road pictures were never like this!
Troy_VA18 April 2012
Hilarious and original take on zombie movies, albeit from the point of view of two cognizant zombies. Nerdy Mike "awakens" from being murdered three years earlier to find himself re-animated amidst a zombie feeding frenzy, and runs into another self-aware zombie in "never take anything seriously" Brent and a trainable hulking zombie named Cheese. Together with Vietnam vet Cliff they escape quarantine and embark on a road trip to find Mike's old flame in Michigan, all the while being chased by nefarious secret ops hellbent on their recapture. This is one wild ride from start to finish and everyone involved does a great job of bringing such a fresh idea to the screen and making us hope for a sequel.

Far better than expected
Bantam14 November 2013
Warning: Spoilers
Let's be clear about it: the movie is a low-budged production. Considering that, it is actually not as bad as it could have been.

Even though the upcoming zombie apocalypse is the new hotness these days, this one's on the lighter side of the subject. Apparently zombies are just normal people with normal problems: missed opportunities, lovesick and of course hungry for a road-trip.

The story is pretty much about a guy what wants to get to his former girl and tell her that he loves her - in total spite of the fact that he's a zombie now. He picks up a few fellow travelers along the way and together they embark on a road-trip. All while some 'corporation' (remember Umbrella?) is hot on their rotting heels. In the end he confesses his 'undying' love.

With the entire zombie backdrop it is fun to watch, but it leaves you here and there with a few blanks you got to fill in for yourself. The zombie outbreak is just a facade, if I may say so, to pepper the movie with some comic relief. However, the entire thing is so over-the-top that it is actually fun to watch. Several scenes are rather hilarious, while others leave you going: "WFT?"

And that is the weak spot of it; at times neither the plot, nor the actions of certain characters seem to make sense. Therefore I deem it rather average, however funny enough to not turn it off mid-way. Give it a try for yourself and see how infectious it is.

Original plot.. good zombie make up...yet it lost a lot steam as the movie went on..
Truthdealer212125 November 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Ha OK I'am a total bona-fide Dead head;I have seen to many zombie movies for my own good and I'm always on the search and look out for the best new zombie movies, which this one had a lot of potential of living up to that standard. Sadly at the end of the movie I was so disappointed in the plot, and lack of zombidom. What would of helped the movie is the backdrop of a zombie Apocalypse, which the plot summary and beginning kind of alluded to.I did enjoy the makeup, and the idea of conscious zombies,on a mission. I also enjoyed the pet zombie they had"cheese";had some good comic relief, yet I just wished the two main zombie characters would of just ate some more brains! That would of added some conflict to the movie,to eat or not to eat; not to mention it would of gave the zombie hunters who were following them something to do beside being douches.I'm sure the writer had his reasons for leaving out the HORROR...and instead opting out for comedy and romance, but still the movie was lacking as a result.Anyways If you like buddy cop films, and zombies than this movie is for you, just don't expect to much blood and zombies try something like "The Horde" or watch the T.v series "The Walking Dead".

Horrible mess
adele-roets751 February 2015
Warning: Spoilers
If I could give this crap a score of zero, I would. I would however prefer to score it as a minus ten. The stink of this movie will never leave my DVD player or home. I love zombie movies, but this is not one of them. Everything, from the script to the acting is poor and forced, I've seen kindergarten school plays with better acting. It seems the only way they tried to spice this stinker up is by having some idiot in a ill-fitting yellow hazard suit dropping the f-bomb with gusto. If you want to watch a cheesy overacted horror movie, rather watch the original Evil Dead. At least it was never meant to be anything but cheesy and is still funny. Watch at your own peril, I had the burning feeling to scoop my brain out with a rusty teaspoon, but was unable to obtain one. God have mercy on your soul, should you ignore sound advice and still choose to watch this.

Fun Spoofy Zombie Flick
Peppered_Productions12 August 2012
Warning: Spoilers
If George A. Romero, John Hughes, Sam Raimi & Broken Lizard spliced together their genes, DeadHeads may indeed be the love child of this labor.

Reading the plot summary before selecting this flick, I thought it was going to be "My Boyfriend's Back" shifted forward a few years. I liked that little sleeper, and would have been happy with a similar track.

However, from the first scenes, this story was clearly pure camp, with heart.

We open with Mike (Michael McKiddy), a newly awakened zombie. He is self-aware and intelligent, except, of course with regards to his current state of being. He soon meets Brent (Ross Kidder), who becomes his goofy sidekick. Brent is grounded more in the reality of their situation, and his loyal friendship helps Mike along.

Mike has unfinished business - he is carrying an engagement ring meant for his high school sweetheart, Ellie (Natalie Victoria). Unfortunately, he's been dead 3 years. He doesn't know how he got where he is, or why he's one of few 'intelligent' zombies around, but this quest is his only thought.

Unfortunately for the guys, there are 'unchanged' folks ready to call them out & kill them. Also, there's the little matter of the corporate types hunting them down for extermination. It seems they may have something to do with the situation Mike finds himself in. They've hired a sure-shooting, experienced zombie slayer, Thomas (Thomas Galasso).

What follows is your typical A to B road trip. We meet many characters along the way. Beloved "Cheese" (Markus Taylor), is the slow, but mostly harmless zombie who tags along like a puppy. Cliff (Harry Burkey) is the doper who picks them up and helps get them closer to Ellie's door. And, of course, super-fuzz wannabe McDinkle (Benjamin Webster), who seems to be suffering from a combination of suppressed homosexuality and roid rage.

At times, this flick had a very "Tommy Boy" feel w/Brent being the Chris Farley to Mike's serious David Spade. The music and almost cartoonish delivery from Kidder's Brent also called to mind the newer Scooby Doo cartoon features. Add to that the naked sincerity of Mike's love for Ellie, and a high school reunion to boot - we have a Zombie John Hughes movie.

I discovered part way through the movie why there was a Bruce Campbell quote in the trailer - they watch clips of Evil Dead. But, I was OK with that. The snippets fit in with the campy nature of the film.

This movie manages to fill many niches at once, as well as hearkening to some 80s nostalgia (there is a Goonies reference at one point). The story, direction, music and acting are overall pretty good. Even Kidder's exuberant offerings don't quite tip to the side of absurd. The lighting is a bit weird, trying to keep it dark, but for the most part it's forgivable.

As we head toward the climax, Mike gets flashes of memory revealing pieces of how he got where he is. When he finally reaches Ellie's door, he is just as resigned, though prepared not to have his fairy tale ending. She makes the decision for him & Brent encourages them to 'give the audience what they want' amid a throng of the corporate scientists and assassins who have followed them the whole way.

Overall, I really liked this film. It was entertaining, and the characters were sympathetic. They played a far-fetched storyline, with enough humor and drama to keep my attention to the end. There are plenty of gags and caricatures, but they add to the fun of this adventure.

My rating: 7 out of 10.

Had potential but fails to really deliver anything noteworthy.

The premise was actually good and so were the 2 leads but the supporting cast should return their paycheques (if they got paid!) because they were awful. Of special mention is Ben Webster who played McDinkle. I know it was supposed to be over the top but it was just crap and felt really forced. He literally ruined every scene he was in!

Save your time!

Decent movie but could be better
atinder11 May 2013
This was nice twist on zombie movies, Which I don't think it's be done before but I found the first half the movie very funny at times.

As the movies goes on, I didn't really find some of the jokes that funny at all, I got really bored in the middle of the movie.

I didn't really thing the movie was that gory at all for a zombie movie, there maybe body Parts being pulled there some strange moment were zombie guts were used as a rope

The acting was really good from the whole, it shame some of the bad parts of the movie kinda of over shadows fist half of the movie.

I wasn't to keen on ending of the movie at all.

Zombies on a road trip
KineticSeoul10 January 2013
Warning: Spoilers
The intro makes it seem promising with the grindhouse vibe going for it sorta but it turned out pretty good. This isn't a amazing zombie movie but it's watchable. It's basically about a guy waking up to find out he is a zombie but unlike other zombies he is intelligent and has human conscience and is basically a good zombie cause he doesn't kill people. And randomly meets another zombie that has the mind of a human as well. And it turns out as a zombies on the road trip movie with two unexpected friends Mike and Brent on a journey to find a girl that one of them is head over heels for. Because out of 6 billion people he thinks she is his only soul-mate. And has a old guy and a zombie with zombie mentality and has attributes of the Frankenstein monster following them around. So they are the good guys...Well sorta and the humans that are trying to hunt them are the bad guys...Sorta. So it's a interesting take on this genre and you can tell they put quite a effort into this straight to DVD zombie flick. Even if it does have some plot holes and doesn't make much sense sometimes. For instance the zombie Frankenstein that is tagging along doesn't even try to eat the old guy. They are zombies and yet they smoke pot. You can see them breathing although they are zombies. One of the zombie guy that has the human mind wears glasses without any lenses although he isn't a hipster. And at the end the protagonist who has a zombie body lets his girlfriend kiss him although he can contaminate her and turn her into a zombie. Just to name a few things that doesn't make sense about this movie. The acting in this movie isn't awful but it's far from good, but I guess that somewhat makes this flick humorous a bit. The dialogue isn't well written and can be pretty darn cheesy and childish. If they used the two zombies that still has the intellect of humans and incorporate it into the movie in a clever and creative way it would have really upgraded this movie. But they are on the run from humans that are trying to hunt them and that is basically the only thing the play the fact that the two main characters are zombies upon. Because there is certainly plenty of ways they could have incorporated them being zombies and all and use it to accomplish certain tasks and stuff. If this had a bit of a higher budget and used it for better cinematography and added more cool stuff going on. Incorporated the two zombie buddies with the intellect of humans and used it in a clever and witty manner and did a better job with the dialogue. It could have made it into the theater. Overall it's a alright movie but wanted a bit more humor. It's nowhere near as good as "Shaun of the Dead" but it's a watchable flick.

"Zombedy" Rocks!
cat72721 November 2010
Terrific zombie comedy! Gory action for the guys, romantic comedy for the girls...something for everyone. If you liked Shaun of the Dead, you'll like Deadheads even better. The chemistry and timing between the lead actors is what makes this film special. Mike (Michael McKiddy) and Brent (Ross Kidder-so funny!) are the Abbott and Costello of zombie movies, while Markus Taylor is excellent as Cheese, a "zombified" Lenny-like character in Of Mice and Men. The trio meet during a failed zombie experiment and travel across country to find Mike's old girlfriend and love of his life. It has great horror action scenes, smart humor, and heart. A real fun ride!

Not Bad. I enjoyed it.
phxphil11 December 2012
Entertaining actors, well acted and the movie has a pretty funny script. I didn't hear/see a lot of Clichés as other have said. The script moved along well. It was not low budget nor was it high budget. But definitely not low budget. The special effects were high quality, body parts, gun shot wounds, etc. The guys chasing the two main characters do a good job as vigilantes and present a nice reason for the main characters to be on the run. Oh, and there is an explanation for the reason the two guys are not like the other zombies. You just have to wait for it. It's definitely a good popcorn movie with enough funny moments.

Not bad, but it won't get you thrilled

It was okay as a Comedy Film, I guess. The characters were compelling, which is a very rare thing on the zombie genre. But I was looking for Zombies Movies, tho.

It wasn't a bad story, but I watched it on 1,75x speed. Guess I wanted to watch something more inclined toward the survival horror. I wasn't in that mood to see something funny.

Just a 90's style road trip movie ... with zombies.
McQualude29 August 2013
A random recommendation on Netflix that turned out to be among the better zombie movies I've seen in a long while. Mike wakes up one evening and learns he died and has become a zombie but Mike's brain is fully functioning, he can talk and is not craving human flesh. Frightened he seeks help at a nearby cabin but they don't take kindly to dead folk. Soon after Mike stumbles into Brent, another high functioning zombie that died of auto-erotic asphyxiation and the duo set off to find Mike's ex- girlfriend, Ellie. Deadheads is an 90's style road trip/romantic comedy that manages to be fun, touching, quirky and sincere. There is a fun scene in the beginning that can best be described as Night of the Living Dead meets Feast but thankfully Deadheads doesn't devolve into a montage of mash-ups. On the way to Michigan they meet an odd assortment of characters, some living, some become friends, some want to kill them, and Mike learns the shocking truth of how he became a zombie.

DeadHeads is a Road Trip / Buddy comedy with zombies. It follows a guy named Mike who wakes up dead in the midst of a zombie outbreak. Mike is not your average zombie given that he can talk, think and refrain from eating people. He's also not the only zombie of his kind. Not long in to the story he meets another talker named Brent to whom he reveals his intention to seek out his ex-girlfriend and deliver her the engagement ring that he never had the chance to give her before his mysterious death. In order to get to their destination, the zombie chums must avoid some wacky over-the-top government agents and learn more about the mystery behind Mike's death, all while attempting to blend in with regular people in society. This movie isn't really scary as much as it is goofy. This film's strongest factor is that it brings to the zombie genre a new and unique twist by introducing competent zombies capable of refraining from eating people. They can also train regular zombies to control their flesh eating urges. While obviously a low-budget film; the acting is okay, the gore effects are halfway decent and the overall storyline is well put together. While the humor is well played and the jokes work well with the overall gore factor, it kind of wears off quickly and makes much of this film a boring string of one-liners and zombie-based gags that have all been done before. It also never clearly explains the magnitude of the zombie outbreak. At some points it seems like society is semi-integrated and tolerant of zombies and at other times the zombie hordes are after everyone and need to be stopped by government agents. While DeadHeads is far from being a great movie, it is an entertaining movie as long as you don't set your expectations too high. I recommend this film to fans of cheap zombie flicks or low budget buddy comedies.
