Things that most abusers will do..male or female
They will manipulate, manipulate, manipulate i.e. Sean taking Alex back to their former home with hopes of seducing her, also Sean spending time with Alex's Dad when he knows she would not approve
They will try to be "the hero" i.e. Sean researching Paula's mortgage info and then locating her husband in order to confront him and being so willing to "help"
They will always put their needs first i.e. Sean sabotaging Alex's living arrangements after Maddie's birthday party without any regard to his daughter's preschool
They will usually blame the victim i.e. Sean blaming Alex for impotence and sobriety issues
They are jealous Sean is very jealous even though he flaunts his new girlfriend. He also uses very unkind and misogynistic language as a way to demean Alex
Alex giving in to Sean in "String Cheese" is a typical pattern in abuse/domestic violence situations.

Paula goes to ER
This was a decent episode. Classic Maid - more or less just a series of struggles Alex goes through. However, this has become like her breaking point. The damage that Paula, who is basically a wrecking ball at this point, is insurmountable. She's literally a danger to herself and to others. We see her completely zoned out in the ER and the scene with Sean at the end was not romantic at all, but almost somewhat disturbing. It was like she was having intercourse with him to forget the stress, based on her blank eyes. Relationships are so iffy. Sean literally made her homeless but now he's helping her out in many ways perhaps out of guilt. Probably one of the most gray characters in this show.
Nate, on the other hand, we see Alex almost thirsting over but doesn't consummate in anything, which entirely makes sense. If it starts getting romantic with Nate, things are going to turn weird really fast. But the audience just wants a happy life for Alex :( Settle down with Nate please! But my man has the worst timing ever. He just wants to keep taking her out on a date so even his good deeds don't even seem like good deeds anymore, just courtship. But regardless, Paula is going to be a huge burden. I'm sure the ER visit cost will also be something to be touched upon because she has no insurance. Is there an END for alex??

This is a talented mum and daughter. Always been a fan and the acting is beyond belief. Especially as they are mom and daughter. Seems these scenes would be that much harder doing opposite your actual child Regardless this series in whole is full of extraordinary acting.

Warning: Spoilers
The writers did a good job on the show. The problems do not end, but only accumulate more and more. I'm very sorry for Alex. And her choice is understandable, although it seems strange to other viewers. She and Sean are the same, which is why they are drawn to each other.
And the episode with the cut arm was like a real thriller. Very impressive!

Episode Seven - Jogo de Interesses
I love Alex's thoughts so much.
Regarding the previous episode, Alex's boss said that she had never seen Regina always call the same cleaning lady, but also, if Regina doesn't call, Alex will kidnap her dog.
Alex's mother irritates me a lot, but I felt sad for her, but she takes everything out on her daughter.
There must be people complaining about the final scene of this episode around here, but people, no one rules the heart, we always tend to be muggles, it was obvious that Alex didn't like the cowboy.
It's sad that she goes back to Sean, but what do you do, life is really sad.
