The year of 2022 was extremely fruitful for remarkable horror films, as we saw such genre’s gems as Pearl, Barbarian, Men, and Scream. All these films demonstrated the current trend that implies moving away from the jumpscares. Nevertheless, they make a movie kind of nostalgic and appealing for today's veterans of the genre.
Luckily, there was a movie, originally set for release on Paramount+, that became a worldwide commercial success just because of the proper use of this horror mechanic. Two years after its release, it’s now conquering Netflix’s global chart.
Its plot revolves around Dr. Rose Cotter, a therapist who witnesses a bizarre suicide of a patient and later has the visions of it tormenting her. She can’t explain the horrifying hallucinations she is seeing, and that’s why she starts strongly believing it is a supernatural entity from another world that takes more and more control over her life.

Stephen King may be known for epic novels like It and The Stand, but many Constant Readers first met the Master of Horror through his short fiction. Beginning with the iconic 1978 collection Night Shift, the best-selling author has been dazzling us for decades with short stories overflowing with sickening gore, fantastical creatures, meticulous violence, and transcendent joy. King follows suit in You Like It Darker, a jaw-dropping collection of twelve terrifying tales, five of them previously unpublished. Inspired by Leonard Cohen’s “You Want It Darker,” the outstanding tome dives head-first into the brutal randomness of pain and destruction – a “lullaby for suffering” only King can deliver.
The collection kicks off with “Two Talented Bastids,” a poignant story about an elderly author and his less talented son. Laird Carmody is a small-town Mainer who prizes his quiet life among the locals – a thinly veiled reference to King himself. The sprawling...

As far as individual authors go, Stephen King is certainly in the top of the list of authors whose works have been adapted. He is right there with Agatha Christie, Edgar Allan Poe, Arthur Conan Doyle, and other authors whose works have been adapted often and in many forms. But unlike the aforementioned authors, King’s adaptations are usually original, while the other authors have seen their works adapted and remade more than once. In light of that fact, we can confirm that King’s story, “The Monkey,” had been adapted into a film this spring and the movie was presented to buyers at Cannes this year!
Knowing how popular King’s adaptations are, it was a sure thing that someone would buy the movie, and as it happens, Neon managed to nab the distribution rights for the upcoming movie and they have confirmed that a 2025 release date is currently planned.

If everything wasn’t of the greatest caliber, a show like Game of Thrones would not have reached such heights. The two areas where the play truly excelled were the costume and wig designs. Hence, its prequel House of the Dragon including some of the best TV costumes and wigs ever produced shouldn’t come as a surprise. And Emma D’Arcy, who plays Rhaenyra, absolutely loves them.
Emma D’Arcy loves their House of the Dragon wig
The reaction to the wigs on House of the Dragon has been quite mixed. However, the one D’Arcy wears for Rhaenyra has been loved unanimously. In a recent interview with the Es magazine, D’Arcy said: “I’m very lucky, I look very different in the show. The blonde wig is a piece of armour that protects me. I have a very normal, ordinary day-to-day life and it suits me.”

The history of the Targaryens is as convoluted and twisted as it comes. There is good reason to fear this fabled family—they are notorious for their incest, internal strife, and constant backstabbing. The Blacks and Greens, who formed the once powerful House of the Dragon, split apart and are taking up positions on opposing sides of the battleground. And Emma D’Arcy’s Rhaenyra, leading the Blacks, will be seen in a completely different form.
Rhaenyra’s sense of betrayal in House of the Dragon Season 2
After witnessing a series of deaths and betrayals, Rhaenyra is in a deep state of mourning. D’Arcy, in a recent interview with the Es magazine, states, “Those who’ve watched the first series will know that we left Rhaenyra having just received the news of her son’s murder. We pick up in series two about two weeks later, so that loss remains very raw.

Stephen King’s impact on the cinema industry is hard to overestimate, as the movies adapted from his brilliant novels have brought billions to the filmmakers. However, what if we try to imagine a biographical film about this writer and his creative process?
Here are 4 actors who could potentially play King in a biopic, according to Reddit.
1. Bill Hader
This actor is presumably the one who comes first in mind in this respect, as he doesn’t only look very much like the writer, but is also familiar with his horror universe as he played the adult Richie Tozier in It Chapter Two (2019).
“Hader would be perfect not just because of his looks, but because Sk is a genuinely funny guy Irl,” admits Redditor @thewoodlayer. Indeed, the actor’s comedy skills would be of much value here too.
2. Rainn Wilson

Stellar Blade is everywhere right now. From the constant controversies surrounding the game and supposed censorship to its many risque suits and in-your-face sexuality, there’s no escaping the discourse around it.
That negativity is part of the reason this review is later than others, as I wanted the waters to calm a little and everyone to be able to see the game objectively, rather than some topic of ragebait that others want it to be.
Stellar Blade’s Like Nothing That Came Before It Eve, Adam and co. take the fight to the Naytibas.
Stellar Blade‘s opening will be familiar to anyone who played the demo prior to release and ensures you’re instantly grabbed by the universe, the action, and the carnage that plays out. Not much is explained early on (or at all really), and you’re left to piece together the gravitas of the situation yourself.

Exclusive: Thriving U.S. indie producer-distributor Neon is no stranger to the Cannes Film Festival with the Tom Quinn-founded banner having acquired a historic four consecutive Palme d’Or wins, thus earning them the nickname “the Palme d’Or whisperers”. Doug Belgrad, a former Sony Pictures executive and the founder of 2.0 Entertainment, is joining Netflix as vice president of film. The hire comes as Dan Lin, the streaming service’s newly mint film chief, is shaking up the division, which has been seen as producing too few buzzy films despite spending vast sums of money. Lin, the producer of hits like “The Lego Movie” and “It,” was hired by Netflix in the spring to replace former film chief Scott Stuber, who stepped down in January, and he’s been putting his imprint on the business.
As Belgrad joins Netflix, 2.0 Entertainment will be overseen by Sophie Cassidy and Zack Conroy, two top executives at the company. Belgrad founded 2.0 Entertainment, a film and television production and financing company that is based at Sony Pictures, in 2016. Their films include “Gran Turismo,” “The Pope’s Exorcist” and “Bad Boys: Ride or Die,” which is set for release this summer.

Before his Stranger Things fame, David Harbour did many small and significant character roles in several films and TV series. Steven Spielberg’s War of the Worlds was one project he could never forget due to a major disappointment. If you don’t remember seeing him in the sci-fi flick starring Tom Cruise, that’s because he was cut from the film. While Harbour accepted his fate, he was probably hurt by the fact that Spielberg had no memory of working with him in the film.

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes has been getting a lot of attention since the release of its trailer. Not only is the film bringing back one of the most iconic science-fiction series of all time, but it is doing it with a fresh approach. There is one star at the forefront of the media spotlight with the film’s release; Owen Teague.
Owen Teague in Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes as Noa
Taking over the role that Andy Serkis had in the series, with Noa becoming the new Caesar, the actor had some very big shoes to fill. While the role had to have been extremely difficult, there is no doubt that Teague has done an excellent job at it. Wes Ball recently gave an interview where he talked about the casting of the character. It would seem that finding the right Noa was particularly difficult.

Movie promotion can get more creative these days with the use of social media. Sometimes, staged moments in public also enhance the “viral” intention. Years ago, stories made the rounds of creepy clown sightings spotted in neighborhood areas, complete with haunting pictures of said clowns standing eerily still. The sensation coincidentally would do wonders for the release of the It films, and similar viral marketing was attempted with the Ghostface killer for the new Scream movies. Low and behold, The Strangers – Chapter 1 is about to be released by Lionsgate and the movie is all about property invasion by mysteriously scary figures.
The new film from Renny Harlin is getting in on the action as costumed killer characters were seen at Coachella as well as creepy viral footage of these characters appearing on Ring cameras as they stalk on doorsteps. People Magazine has now reported that Lionsgate would attempt to reach...

Eiichiro Oda, the creator of One Piece, has confessed multiple times that he is a big fan of Akira Toriyama and has been inspired by his magnum opus, Dragon Ball. There have been instances where fans have pointed out the reference to Dragon Ball in One Piece, pointing out the respect and admiration Oda has for Toriyama.

The "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" gang has been at fault for quite a few deaths over the years -- from a guy shooting himself in a Russian Roulette game arranged by Frank, to Mac and Dee letting a kid drown at a water park. If you count animals, Charlie's got the highest body count in the gang, as he's murdered not just the many men rats in Paddy's Pub, but the women and children rats too. Then again, the implied horrors that went on in Frank's old sweatshop might put Charlie's rat genocide to shame.
But for Glenn Howerton, who plays the psychopathic Dennis Reynolds, one of the deaths that haunts him was only kind of the gang's fault. In a 2017 interview he talked about how he regretted killing off Roxy (Alanna Ubach), a successful yet unstable sex worker whom Frank tries to marry in season 7. She unexpectedly...

Multiple outlets recently reported that the ‘Princess of Pop’ and her rumored boyfriend Paul Soliz got into an argument at the Chateau Marmont in West Hollywood, but Spears took to her social media platform to clarify the matter.
Moreover, Spears’ alleged fight with her on-and-off boyfriend is likely fueling new rumors that the singer, 42, is going through yet another serious mental health crisis.

Presenting the Oscar for best actress at the 94th Academy Awards earlier this year, Anthony Hopkins described the nominees as actors “who’ve built their careers on some of the most memorable and most unexpected performances in movie after movie after movie.” No surprise, then, that the winner turned out to be Jessica Chastain, who took home the gold for The Eyes of Tammy Faye.
With three Oscar nominations and seven Golden Globe nods (and one win for each), Chastain is a true Hollywood maverick. In her almost two decades on-screen, she’s played spies, troubled wives, real-life heroes (The Zookeeper’s Wife) and power-brokers. She’s gone to space, ruled over a haunted mansion (Crimson Peak) and fought a murderous clown (It: Chapter 2).

It’s been a long time coming, but a remake of the 1994 film The Crow (which was based on the comic book series created by James O’Barr) will finally be making its way out into the world on August 23rd, which is when Lionsgate will be giving the film a theatrical release. With that release date swiftly approaching, we figured we should gather together all the information we have on this movie… and here it is, Everything We Know About The Crow Remake:
Development Hell
When the original The Crow was released, it was successful enough to spawn a franchise, with three sequels following over the next eleven years. We got The Crow: City of Angels in 1996, The Crow: Salvation in 2000, and The Crow: Wicked Prayer in 2005, with several other potential sequels (including one that would have been written and directed by Rob Zombie) being developed and scrapped along the way.

Soon after the New Hollywood generation took over the entertainment industry, they started having children. And more than any filmmakers that came before—they were terrified. Rosemary’s Baby (1968), The Exorcist (1973), The Omen (1976), Eraserhead (1977), The Brood (1979), The Shining (1980), Possession (1981), and many others all deal, at least in part, with the fears of becoming or being a parent. What if my child turns out to be a monster? is corrupted by some evil force? or turns out to be the fucking Antichrist? What if I screw them up somehow, or can’t help them, or even go insane and try to kill them? Horror has always been at its best when exploring relatable fears through extreme circumstances. A prime example of this is Larry Cohen’s 1974 monster-baby movie It’s Alive, which explores the not only the rollercoaster of emotions that any parent experiences when confronted with the difficulties of raising a child,...

For a few hours this evening the London BFI IMAX became sovereign territory of a far distant Kingdom, the Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes no less. And onto their concrete shores poured the cast and crew of the latest Apes-fest, the franchise who re-invigoration over a decade ago began a series of films far better than they had any right to be.

Two weeks ago, "X-Men '97" delivered quite a heartbreaking development with the death of Gambit during a shocking Sentinel attack on the peaceful mutant colony of Genosha. The Ragin' Cajun went out in a blaze of tragic glory but left Rogue and the rest of the X-Men team shattered.
This week, the episode "Bright Eyes" begins with Gambit's funeral. Nightcrawler gives a lovely eulogy with a combination of just the right amount of card-playing puns and a wonderful tribute to Gambit's character, both as a man and a superhero. Though Rogue isn't in attendance, dealing with her grief in a vengeful way across the country, Cyclops, Jean Grey, Wolverine, Beast, Jubilee, Sunspot, and more are all there to lay Gambit to rest.
Also among the crowd are a few faces that you're meant to notice, but you might not remember them if you haven't refreshed yourself on "X-Men: The Animated Series" in a while.

The month of April seemingly sailed by with far too many moderate releases, and the month ends this weekend with more of the same. Read on for Gold Derby’s box office preview.
Italian filmmaker Luca Guadagnino returns with the sexy tennis drama “Challengers,” starring the powerhouse trio of Zendaya (“Euphoria”), Josh O’Connor (“The Crown”) and Mike Faist (“West Side Story”) as superstar tennis players who fall into a competitive love triangle. This is Zendaya’s first movie after “Dune: Part Two,” and it will be a real test for her as a box office star, since sports dramas can be hit or miss. “Challengers” really is riding on her popularity to avoid the pitfalls of the genre.

Famous for writing numerous successful horror, sci-fi and drama novels, Stephen King gave the cinema industry lots of sources for adapting. While some of the adaptations of his works are considered cultish, there are a number of clearly failed attempts to bring the accomplished writer’s plots to the big screen.
These include the adaptation of King’s magnum opus, a series of eight novels, which blends science fiction, fantasy, horror and Western. It was long considered unadaptable, until the 2017 movie was released, which partially proved those lasting doubts.
The movie’s plot revolves around Roland (played by Idris Elba), a gunslinger on his mission to protect the tower which supports all the world’s realities with his young apprentice Jake (Tom Taylor). Meanwhile, his quest gets disturbed by his lifetime rival, named The Man in Black (Matthew McConaughey).

Bill Skarsgård has continued to to impress audiences over the years and has helped maintain the glorious reputation of the Skarsgård family alongside his father Stellan Skarsgård and brother Alexander Skarsgård. Diljit Dosanjh Plays Amar Singh Chamkila In His Biopic Directed By Imtiaz Ali ( Photo Credit – YouTube; Instagram )
Amar Singh Chamkila is a name that might have been alien a few weeks back but is now known to most of us, thanks to Imtiaz Ali, who directed a biopic of the late Punjabi singer. Diljit Dosanjh played Chamkila in the film, and Parineeti Chopra played his wife.
Now, for the unversed, Chamkila was criticized a lot for his outrageous lyrics that involved commentaries about illicit relationships, objectifying women, and talking about their fantasies in general.
Some of the most lewd songs by Amar Singh Chamkila talked about women in particular and their assets suggestively. A couplet in the song Baapu saada Gum ho gaya says, “Teri maa di talashi lehni ni bapu sada gum ho gaya.”

Movies and TV series, adapted from Stephen King’s outstanding novels, often gain not only large amounts of money, but also massive critical praise, with many of these movies becoming iconic. These include Rob Reiner’s Stand by Me (1986), the timeless masterpiece The Shawshank Redemption (1994) and the horror banger It (2017).
However, not all movies succeed in adapting the accomplished writer’s material and even in honoring the already existing adaptations. The same thing was done by the 2022 sci-fi horror, which is based on King’s 1980 novel, written in his most productive era.
The story of the movie revolves around the couple, Andy and Vicky McGee, who developed supernatural powers as the result of the secret government drug trial, in which they participated as college students. It also led to their daughter Charlie having pyrokinetic abilities, which doesn’t seem like a relevant trait for a child.

As Netflix’s new film chief, Dan Lin’s mandate is to focus on quality — and quantity.
Netflix’s co-ceo Ted Sarandos shed light on Lin’s strategy as the producer takes over film duties from Scott Stuber, who announced in January he was leaving the streamer.
“There is no appetite to make fewer films, but there is an unlimited appetite to make better films, always,” Sarandos said during the company’s Q1 earnings call. “Even though we have made, and we are making, great films. We want to make them better, of course.”
He was responding to a recent New York Times article, which reported that Lin aims to “improve the quality of the movies and produce a wider spectrum of films — at different budget levels — the better to appeal to the varied interests of Netflix’s 260 million subscribers.”

The rising star on transitioning from man to beast for Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes.
