Zac Efron may have risen to prominence after starring in the High School Musical trilogy, but he's since reinvented himself in a big way.
Shedding the "frat boy" persona movies like Neighbors and Dirty Grandpa later labelled him with, the actor has shown a darker, far more serious side in Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile and The Iron Claw. Now, all eyes are on what Efron does next.
If a new rumour shared by @MyTimeToShineH is to be believed, then it could be a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe!
We don't have any news on who he'll play, though there are plenty of possibilities. Recently, there have been rumours about Marvel Studios finally moving forward with a Nova TV series, and while the focus is expected to be on Sam Alexander, Efron would arguably make a perfect Richard Rider.

Aaron Quinn and Denise Huskins may not be household names, but what happened to them was made ubiquitous by a widely-known association: “Gone Girl.”
The California couple made headlines in 2015, just one year after David Fincher’s adaptation of the popular Gillian Flynn novel. Huskins was kidnapped, her then-boyfriend telling the police a shocking story, and after 48 hours, she came home. Their ordeal was treated like a “real-life ‘Gone Girl'” by the media — as well as local and federal officers — and now retold in the Netflix docuseries “American Nightmare,” helmed by Bernadette Higgins and Felicity Morris.
When Quinn and Huskins’ story reached the duo behind “The Tinder Swindler,” it was once again via “Gone Girl”-association. Higgins told IndieWire she was struck by all the twists and turns in their story (which doesn’t end after Huskins came home), and the “sheer audacity” of law enforcement in the situation.

There are many actors whose public image will forever be defined by one iconic role. Al Pacino and Michael Corleone. Daniel Radcliffe and Harry Potter. Zac Efron and Troy Bolton.
To millions of millennials and zoomers, Zachary David Alexander Efron will forever be associated with his role as Troy in Disney’s “High School Musical” trilogy of TV films. A cultural phenomenon that remains a beloved nostalgic favorite today, the franchise made Efron a teen idol at 18, and “The Iron Claw” star’s performance as romantic lead Troy forever defined his public image moving forward: an impossibly earnest sweetheart jock, the type of high school heartthrob that could only exist in a Disney version of reality.
A straight to TV movie musical for tweens isn’t the most prestigious way to begin your career, but Efron, for his part, has mostly spoken fondly about the experience in the years since.

Zac Efron has accomplished a feat that Disney stars historically struggle with: making a smooth transition from teen idol to adult actor. For a decade and counting, Efron's name has been nearly synonymous with the word "heartthrob." Ask someone who their celebrity crush is, and there's a good chance they'll name the "High School Musical" alum. But over the last 17 years, Efron has charted a steady and increasingly impressive path for himself in the film industry, proving he's here to stay.
Efron has carved out a niche that suits his talents, starring in primarily comedies and musicals, and while his catalog includes plenty of films that weren't critical or commercial hits, his talent shines through regardless. Further, with starring roles in dramas like "Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile" and "The Iron Claw," Efron is currently making a major transition to serious, dramatic work. It's a challenge he's proven he can handle.

Penn Badgley has shared his perspective on viewers having crushes on serial killers, saying that the blame for people finding Jeffrey Dahmer attractive is “on Netflix”.
The actor plays stalker and serial killer Joe Goldberg on the streaming service’s hit thriller, You.
(You can find The Independent’s review of the first half of season four here.)
The popularity of You, as well as the dramatisations of the stories of real-life killers Jeffrey Dahmer and Ted Bundy in recent years, has coincided with some viewers expressing attraction to these violent figures.
In a recent interview promoting You’s fourth season, Badgley was asked about the message he’d send to “people who are finding themselves attracted to serial killers”.
He replied: “You need to look at that, inside.”

“Yellowstone” is easily one of, if not the most talked about television series of the new millennium. Since hitting the screens in June 2018 the Paramount Network hit series has built a cult following for itself. And as the fan base grew so did interest to know more about the story of the Duttons. Perhaps, this explains how the creators came about the several “Yellowstone” spinoffs.
The “Yellowstone” story is told around a powerful family of ranchers — the Duttons — who own the largest ranch in the United States. Amid their success in the town of Montana, the ranchers must fend off a number of enemies interested in encroaching or completely taking over their family legacy. And for four seasons — with the fifth premiering soon, fans of “Yellowstone” have been totally invested in the thrills and chills that come with this battle for supremacy. Marcus King says he was haunted by the Seventies rock band Free when he was writing his new song “Hard Working Man.” King ain’t lying. The high-octane track explodes with an FM radio chorus, a chunky guitar riff, and enough cowbell to satisfy Christopher Walken. Recorded earlier this year with producer Dan Auerbach for King’s upcoming album Young Blood, “Hard Working Man” sounds as if it arrived in the year 2022 by way of a bitchin’, time-traveling 1970 Camaro.

The U.K.’s PinkPantheress broke onto the scene last January with “Pain,” a trendy, trailer-short song about rejection that feels as epic as a full-on teen melodrama. Though it’s an aural sad-face emoji, the viral sensation, with its playful, chantlike refrains is all about keeping your cool, which is likely why it resonated with the generation that thinks posting the wrong meme is a minor catastrophe. If the Zoomer pop world is Mean Girls, PinkPanthress is at the table with all the stoners and burnouts, fashioning whole hashtag-friendly...

In late January, the 20-year-old musician PinkPantheress posted a grainy TikTok video at her home in South London. Set to her song “Pain,” the 12-second clip was remarkable in its mundanity. She sits at her computer while obscuring her face with a block of text that reads: “day 11 of posting a song every day bc i have nothing else to do.” The video’s appeal came thanks to the aforementioned track, an extraordinary earworm that uses a pitched-down sampling of the U.K. garage classic “Flowers,” by Sweet Female Attitude.

Partly playing out as a chamber piece that fictionalizes a series of conversations between Ted Bundy (Luke Kirby) and FBI profiler Bill Hagmaier (Elijah Wood), Amber Sealey’s No Man of God is an actors showcase that purposely eschews mythologizing Bundy or his crimes. Serving, in part, as a counterpoint to previous films and documentaries that play up Bundy’s charisma, Sealey and Kirby, alongside writer Kit Lesser, strip away that magnetism to reveal a needy individual who very much wants to claim normality, even in the face of his horrific crimes. Structurally bifurcated, with the second half of the film unfurling under a seven-day timeframe before Bundy is scheduled to be executed, Sealey’s film is an effective, if occasionally blunt, dive into the relationship between Bundy and Hagmaier.
The story begins in 1985 as Hagmaier––a rookie on the newly created FBI Behavioral Analysis division––volunteers to interview Bundy to collect information for profiling.

Directors Amber Sealey and Joe Berlinger got caught up in a feud, ahead of the June 11 Tribeca premiere of Sealey’s Ted Bundy pic No Man of God.
The quarrel began with an email Berlinger sent to Sealey, after noticing interviews in which she discussed the glorification of Bundy in American culture. In these interviews, he felt she was comparing her film favorably to others made about the infamous serial killer—including two of his own—implying that past films had contributed to the idolization of Bundy, whereas hers does not.
“Forgive the unsolicited advice, but after reading some of your interviews about your Bundy movie, I feel compelled to tell you that tearing down my work to promote yours is a slippery slope and intellectually dishonest and deeply offensive,” Berlinger said in the email, which you can read in its entirety below. “My work has gotten wrongfully convicted people...

Update: In response to a request for comment from IndieWire, Amber Sealey issued a statement, excerpted here: “I found his initial email to me quite shocking. He clearly wanted me to get it as he Dm’d me on Ig and he sent an email to my website. It felt like he was trying to silence me, to let me know that his films and his work were more important than mine could ever be and it felt a little mansplain-y. I have never mentioned his name or his films in any of my press interviews so it was dishonest of him to state that I was trashing his films. His name came up one time in a podcast that I don’t even believe he’s heard, but never in the trades or press interviews did I say anything about his films specifically.”

The “Me” in “Those Who Wish Me Dead” is 12-year-old Connor Casserly (Finn Little), who’s been riding in the passenger seat of his father’s car when a pair of trained assassins pop up along the forest road and perforate the windshield with bullets. The car smashes through the guardrail and plows down the slope, hitting a tree. Dying dad (Jake Weber) orders his son to get out and find someone he can trust (Angelina Jolie plays “Someone He Can Trust”), and Connor goes scrambling off into the woods as the two men come back to finish the job. Except the job — snuffing any and everyone who might know something about the crime they’re trying to cover up — is far from done.

On Thursday, Vanity Fair published an in-depth look into Armie Hammer’s downfall following a social media firestorm about what the actor calls “bulls– claims” about him.
One of the most damming revelations comes from unnamed sources that his ex-wife Elizabeth Chambers has been joking to friends that her former marriage is comparable to “Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile,” in which Zac Efron plays serial killer Ted Bundy. A spokesperson for Chambers has not yet responded to TheWrap’s request for comment.
In January, leaked messages purporting to detail the star’s sex life, including a supposed interested in cannibalism and rape fantasies, surfaced on an Instagram account under the name House of Effie. Hammer released a statement shortly after, when he dropped out of Lionsgate’s “Shotgun Wedding” amid the firestorm, saying, “I’m not responding to these bulls– claims but in light of the vicious and spurious online attacks against me,...
