I loved the 2001: A Space Odyssey homage in this third season opener. This episode sets the scene for Chang's security force for sure, and also Jeff and Pierce's ongoing fued. I was thinking that it's a shame Chevy Chase departed Community early.

Jeff mistaking Professor Kane for a prisoner was incredibly insightful.

Please, six seasons and a movie.

Mediocre episode with great moments and very low ones.

Biology 101 is a strange episode in that there are really clever moments, like the opening song, and Jeff's gift to Prof. Kane, but there are really low moments, like Annie being willing to kick Jeff out of her life but happily accepting Pierce after what he did in Advanced Dungeons and Dragons.

Strange way to start a new season. But it I love the continuity.

Season 3 opens up with an electrifying first episode

Warning: Spoilers
I'm astounded that no one has reviewed this great first episode of season three before. Season three starts from where the show left off from the episode For A Few Paintballs More. This time the study group is divided with Pierce out or Jeff out and both of them cannot take the exclusions. What comes from this basic premise, is homages to 2001 A Space Odyssey, Chang living in the air vents, John Goodman, the table being demolished, and monkey gas. This is truly a great episode that deserves a lot more attention than it got. I even think that this episode is far more superior to the premiere episode of season two, Anthropology 101. If you just started watching Community or if you're rewatching, then I highly suggest this great premiere adventure from everyone's favorite dysfunctional study group.
