Gail.....
sdsbyqh6 October 2022
She claims to have a passion for the paranormal and unexplained and is a "main" cast for the show yet every slight thing that happens she wants to leave. Every noise or response she asks " what's that?" Like they don't know either they're figuring it out. She talks over everyone when they're trying to figure out a reading or some activity with irrelevant responses. I find her really unbearable to watch. Aside from that, I love the rest of the cast. They aren't afraid (even though it's normal to get spooked if you're signing up to do this then do it and stop ruining it for everyone else), and they're a lot of fun to watch. 5/10 because Gail ruins the fun for me. Chris is a bit dramatic as well, I've seen him on multiple shows.

Flies on a Window = Ghosts!
By-TorX-17 June 2022
Spooked: Scotland boasts a series of fine stately buildings, ruined castles, and splendid scenery, but it offers little not already seen since Most Haunted popularised the night vision cameras/medium lark way back when. In terms of approach and tone, the supernatural is invariably the go to in terms of any encounter or mystery, from a mud stain on a stair decreed by the American spiritual consultant as evidence that an imp is on the loose to a window that has a coterie of flies on it judged definitive proof that evil absolute is abroad in the castle. If Rod Steiger had been present in priestly garb, I would accept it, but sans Rod, I remain a sceptic. If you like paranormal investigation shows, then there is probably no reason not to like this show, but I grow weary of them and unless the spectre of William Wallace shows up and cries "Freedom!" through the revenant radio, I am ghosting Spooked: Scotland.

Why... What... How...
thomashoneyman-5146511 July 2022
Me and my hubby enjoy paranormal shows, Ghost Adventures being no1. But being Scottish, and it all being so close to home we were so disappointed with it all.

Gail? Why sign up for a ghost program if you're going to run away in every episode (eye roll) Chris Fleming? Watched him in other TV paranormal shows and he's kinda 'meh' Such a good history to explore but unfortunately the cast is a big no No for us. Upgrade the cast to bring in the fans.

More ham than a butcher's shop

What can you say about Spooked: Scotland? Well, it's a bit like if you ordered a ghost hunting crew from Wish.

Let's start with Chris Fleming, once you get past the distraction of his plastic surgery, and ridiculous overacting you realise he'd be better suited to a pantomime stage. Everything is full on American extreme. It's not just a ghost, it's a demonic poltergeist! It's not just a dirt stain on the floor, it's an imp's footprint! It's not just some dead flies, it's a satanic infestation! But no matter what it is, he's going from 0-100 with his 'investigation', before tackling the bad guys and shooing them all away (because ghostly activity doesn't appeal to tourists?). Americans seem to think Scotland is a fantasy fairy land of imps and sprites, while every indoor ghost has been summoned by an ancient, secretive, satanic cult. It's a tired stereotype.

And then there's Gail Porter, oh dear. Someone take the camera off her and send her home with a nice cup of cocoa. She doesn't seem to enjoy ghost hunting at all, she's very often screaming and crying in terror and running away at the slightest noise, which tends to obscure the evidence they're trying to gather. I get she's there as the token household name, but she really doesn't bring much to the show. I get the impression she'd watch scooby doo with her eyes closed.

Ryan O'Neil, a cheap knock off version of Aaron Goodwin from Ghost Adventures. Just like Chris and Gail, Ryan is just there to scream and shout and overreact at the slightest sound - which is always attributed to something sinister, it's never just a pigeon, is it? Or even just a regular ghost of some poor guy who died there. The fact that every place they visit has some evil entity lurking in the shadows just erodes what little credibility ghost hunting has left.

The saving grace of the show is Evelyn Hollow, an actual trained parapsychologist! Incredibly enough she somehow manages to keep a level head while everyone around her is acting like they're on a Saturday morning kids show. She doesn't get nearly enough screen time, the show producers clearly favouring the three stooges instead. She brings a level of calm professionalism and credibility to the show that it's desperately needs. I'd watch her hosting her own show or working with her own crew.

My sympathies go out to the camera crew tasked with working on the show and in particular the audio tech who has to try capture the events of each hunt while the pantomime is in full swing. They never seem to replay any of the sounds (bar the EVPs) and instead immediately go charging off in the general direction of whatever it was they heard, shouting over everything and generally being as noisy as possible. Which again is always attributed to something satanic and not just old heating pipes rumbling.

So should you watch the show? Well, if you're interested in locations around Scotland for paranormal activity, yes. If you want a serious ghost hunting show, no. Take it for what it is, a bit of silly entertainment that takes itself far too seriously.

Gail is useless
chakotay-0091227 June 2022
Pretty good program, dives into the history and some good investigations. The crew a decent too, apart from Gail. She is absolutely useless and in my opinion hinders any investigation, the slightest creek or knock and she's off, too scared to continue. Normally I would forgive that, time and time again when the good stuff is happening she will ruin it.

Scottish Chicken Seeks Ghosts?
purifyreport17 July 2022
Most of the other reviewers have fairly assessed this show as lacking in the quality of its personnel, though the accents are nice enough.

Who in God's name thought to put excessively fearful hunter (Gail) at the forefront of a ghost hunt!? That alone is disgusting to watch and a real drag.

Shame about Gail
peter19735 July 2022
I enjoy the show as you get to see places that you wouldn't really go to when in Scotland. Ryan is good and does bring out new tech that I have not seen on the more bigger shows oing which his tech seems to be cheaper also so affordable. Chris I have seen on many shows before and he does help other investigators on bigger shows and he is always spot on with what he says and what the evidence that show might find even without Chris being with them anymore. Gail is no good because she hears a mouse fart and she wants to get out of there straight away and goes on and on until they all leave which spoils the show in my opinion. She always comes out with I've got a headache or something like that all of the time or I don't like that and wants to get out again. If she's that scared then why would you do a show like this that you can't handle which is a shame because I like Gail usually.

Too much extraneous background noise.
deanjulia5 June 2022
Hi I am totally enjoying this program. I am an Arden fan of Chris Fleming, My one complaint is the use of strange audio background which is not only distracting but takes away the ability to hear lots of content. Especially when they are using the Franks Box and digital recording. If it weren't for the fact that the digital recording responses are printed on screen you wouldn't know what was being said. The Franks box use is impossible to follow and the words are not put on screen. And due to the pointless but I am guessing, someone's idea of spooky ethereal sounds.

What was that!!!??
BINKY1017 June 2022
The dialogue of this consists mainly of Gail saying...what was that!!?? Multiple times after every single noise. I've never seen such a terrified ghost hunter, Gail constantly wants to run away from every situation. I like Gail, I think she has been really brave where her hairloss is concerned, she is an inspiration......but in the ghost hunting situation it's really not her bag.

Had high hopes
jessicadloyd28 December 2022
It's hard to enjoy watching the show with Gail. I really enjoy the rest of the crew and their professionalism. Chris Fleming is smart and very intuitive. I've watched him in many other paranormal shows, became a fan when he was on psychic kids. Ryan is great, maybe not as experienced but he is willing to listen ideas and honestly try his best. Gail is the host of ghost show and constantly complains slightest noise Interrupts the crew when they trying to investigate further. Unfortunately she's not suited for a paranormal show. Overall the show has great potential for higher ratings with a different host with passion for learning & seeking.

3 out of 4 cant be that Bad
jggold11 December 2022
My biggest problem is with Gail Porter, you would think she is a total rookie investigator. When you go to a haunted location you can expect spirit activity. She jumps and yells and seems to have a panic attack over every noise and RUNS OUT Ryan the tech guy is much calmer than her. Chris Fleming if you know him and his work, those are just his methods and he goes where he is pulled and when. Nothing fake about Ryan,Chris or the dear Doctor. Gail needs to be replaced, its kinda like Zak Bagans and OMG everytime he sees a shadow, loud noise and jumps behind Aaron. Otherwise I enjoy the show. It makes me wonder if she was always like this and if yes, how she managed to get on a TV show as a paranormal investigator. She would go running out of my house in 5 min. Remember spirits feed on fear and she has enough for all other cast members and camera crew. Not all mediums work alike remember that when you criticize Chris Fleming. Gail should be at home watching the show NOT IN IT.

Seems too scripted and performed
iannparry29 May 2022
Why do we need Chris to commentate on what is happening or happened, we can see it for ourselves.

It plays out like it is not targeted at a British audience.

And please get rid of the awful background music, how the hell are we supposed to hear anything with that?

Really devalues the show in term of actual paranormal activity.

Sceptical as to the credibility
steveamanda-oates14 June 2022
I have been sceptical of these types of programmes since Most Haunted was revealed to be a sham. I'm also suspicious of the credibility of the 'mediums' that appear on these shows. Nor am I sure about revelations of fairies and imps. Gail Porter is annoying because all she wants to do is leave each investigation site before the end of filming. Chris Fleming who I've never heard of before is not convincing. The other two members of the team do offer some credibility to the show which is reasonably entertaining if you like this sort of reality programme. Undecided as to whether or not the content can be trusted.

Turn off the music track!
maryannekruger22 January 2023
The locations are wonderful. The history is fascinating. I am not so fussed by Gail's squeamishness. But one thing is unforgivable: the relentless music track. There is nothing wrong with the music itself, except that it plays constantly over all the times they say, "Did you hear that? I hear voices. I think it was a child." Anyone watching the show believes or wants to believe in the paranormal, but asking us to believe what is intentionally covered over is, on so many levels, a bit thick. Plus, who told the show runner that silence isn't spooky? And they could also make more of an effort to debunk what they are seeing. Yes, the show runners should also watch Ghost Adventures.

One of my favourite paranormal shows
jonathan_angelo24 June 2022
I have read a number of the reviews on here about this show but I personally don't agree. This show has a good balance of storyline leading up the investigation as well as content from scientific equipment and information from the Psychic Medium Chris Flemming. There are a number of American shows which have very little content and lots of shouting and screaming to make things seem more dramatic. I've really enjoyed Spooked Scotland and can't wait to see another season!

COULD BE BETTER
silvana-685618 July 2022
What is the point of Gail being in this programme. She is annoying as hell. Every single episode she is crying and wanting to go so why be there is the first place! Chris is so dramatic it's laughable. Without these two the programme would improve.

Give Gail Porter a break!, hater's will be hater's.
pseanpinto24 November 2022
Haunted Scotland is a emotional heart pounding experience, that will not disappoint you. Gail Porter is a emotional person that has a special connection to the supernatural. Having human emotion is what makes us human, and if you find that as a weakness then you don't know what it's like to be human. I one hundred percent support Gail and think's she brings a human element to Haunted Scotland. The Mediums open minds to the mythical realms is what makes it different from other ghost hunting shows. I believe in Fairies, Imps, Goblins, Ghosts and other mythical creatures. Only the true believers of the fairytale world will see them, while all the unbelievers will always be blind and never see the light. Haunted Scotland is a supernatural experience, that is worth you're time.

Maybe not the show for Gail
ljulie-2101931 October 2022
I really wanted to like this show more than I did, as I am usually a fan of all paranormal shows. I have to say though, I am not entirely sure why Gail wanted to feature on this show, as she seems miserable all the time, and would appear to wish to be anywhere but in the locations. I hate to say, the rest of the crew having to ask her every few minutes if she is ok does somewhat take away from the rest of the show. I don't remember Gail being this scared on dead famous, but maybe I am remembering it wrong as it's been a few years since I have seen that show. I do love all the history and scenery though!

Worst Paranormal Show Ever
nathanlaye4 June 2022
This absolute monstrosity of a tv programme Isn't even worth watching the trailer. Chris the 'Medium' isn't a medium at all?! WHO WOULD HAVE GUESSED? He is just a very dumb American. Gail absolutely exaggreates everything that happens on this show. Chris just makes up stories about things affecting him. They have quite clearly and very poorly edited in additional sounds to make the viewer believe some real shi* about to go down then proceed to never mention it again. Not even worth the 1 out of 10 rating. Truly Awful.

Chris get's bummed!
julianlees15 February 2023
I was sceptical, until chris got a spooky 'finger' shoved up his Chatham Pocket! Series 1 Episode 3 Stirling Gaol.

Usually it is Gail that want's to leave and looks at the camera watery eyed, this time the tables are turned and it is Chris that wants to leave and to never return. SPOILER- He returns... Perv' As the series progresses, it becomes more like, Harry Potter and the cast of Labyrinth. Imps, demons, fairies, devils, witches.. As soon as they -apparently- make contact and begin dialogue with an entity, the team get bored and cut them off?

As for the 'FRANKS BOX' I had a radio like that in my Austin Allegro. Ken Bruce, Pop master, cutting in across static.. What else, oh the ghost using the toilet, minding it's own business, door locked on the cubicle, and Porter sticking her head under the door with her camera and torch.

It is not spooky, mildly amusing but could have done with a touch of Acorah, and in particularly his reaction, to an arse poking ghoul.

This is, allegedly, Chris ridding the sites of the spirits and by doing , ruining the economy for Scottish Tourism.

Some good, some bad.
Just watched half a dozen episodes and am impressed with the venues and with Chris's excellent work. However, massively unimpressed with Gail ( "I don't like this, I really don't like this") every episide and how the team seem to coddle someone so unsuitable to present a paranormal investigation programme. You need someone who can deal calmly with the minor events which so seem to scare her and who doesnt act like a diva every episode. People expect a decent try at investigation not a person who can't cope leading the team, it detracts from the programmes.

Joke of a show
happypac15 October 2022
Gail porter. Where to begin...... She's scared of her own Shadow, and this is annoying to the point where we had to stop watching. A paranormal investigator that is extremely scared of the paranormal!

It's like becoming a dog catcher when you are petrified of dogs! Why would you do it?

Totally ruins the show, I mean she might be a lovely person, but she needs to keep away from the paranormal.

Now the psychic. Everything and I mean everything is evil, demonic or an imp.

They catch a noise on an EVP and he shouts out what he hears, so then all the others can only hear that.

Like, shut up, let us decide what we hear, if it's true then we should all hear the same, no?

Don't waste your time.

awful
murraymints-0215711 June 2022
Not good..overly dramatised but in a very amateur sort of way.. hysterical and inane at times... disjointed..not a great reflection on professional paranormal investigation teams at all. Crew seems to be thrown together very poor presentation as if nobody knows what's going on at all and made up as we go along, a pretty awful effort.
