After the fall of the Aztec Empire on August 13th, 1521, many surviving Mexica withdraw into a secret level of the underworld (Mictlan) to rebuild the culture without interference from the outside world. The god of war, Huitzilopochtli, then grants immortality to five warriors and eight designated intellectuals who are tasked with restoring Aztec culture while creating a harmonious, prosperous and unified planet. Their immortality is preserved by a well-guarded water source known as the "Healing Waters".

Over the next five hundred years, the intellectuals anonymously integrate themselves into various cultures around the world to develop an understanding of technology, cultural development and languages, always returning to the underworld to share the knowledge with their society. Meanwhile, the warriors hone their fighting skills and prepare for their emergence into modern society.

On the 500th anniversary of the fall of their empire (August 13th, 2021), the immortals emerge to discover a world that has been crippled by a Lassa virus pandemic. Upon discovering that the virus was created in a lab by a Russian Oligarch named Adrian Volkov, who is also manipulating and selling vaccines to the highest bidder, they decide to negotiate with him to help distribute vaccines to the most devastated countries. When Volkov makes it clear that he has no interest in supporting their cause, the warriors decide that his organization must be destroyed. This movie is one of a kind.

Not worth watching it

Warning: Spoilers
Plot is everything in a story. Without a strong plot, your story will fall flat and fail to engage readers. Emergence is a perfect example of this. The plot here is weak and fails to deliver on any level. The dialogue is stiff and the long portions of text at front and back are incredibly dull. It seems like the creators were aiming for an "All Ages" type story, but it falls short due to the poor writing and art. The figures are lifeless and the panel design does nothing to compliment the action. In short, this comic is a mess and a complete waste of time. However, Emergence is proof that there's more than one way to tell a story - not all stories need to be told through rigid plot lines. Total waste of my time.

Warning: Spoilers
Based on the aztec empire, then they go in to the future, casting is ok, acting and direction is so bad. Fighting scenes are so boring. Movies does not do any justice to the book which it is based on. Plot is irrelevant when your story does not deliver on any level.

The plot here brings Aztec thinkers and warriors into a contemporary setting, if only briefly in this first issue. The dialogue and long portions of text at front and back are stiff. They seem to be aiming for an "All Ages" type style, but are plagued by errors and underwhelming content. At first glance, the art seems to be of a professional level, but as it continues proves to be as stiff as the written word. Figures are lifeless and there is no compliment of panel design to the action. It is hard to defend comics like this in 2022 and I won't try.
