Wisconsin accent is all wrong
metallaura7923 December 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Gave it a 6 because all Simpsons episodes are at least a 5, but this is one of the worst episodes and it's annoying that FXX keeps reairing it. Also, I'm from Wisconsin and the Wisconsin accent of the couple from Wisconsin who stays with the Simpsons is all wrong. It's more like a Minnesota accent. Just saying. Also the story line with Bart and Lisa is kind of lame. Also, the episode just wasn't that funny. I love the Simpsons and love it as most people do but once in a while there's an episode that's a dud. Not sure why they require 10 lines. That's kind of excessive. So just let me say that this was one of the worst Simpsons episodes. Also they got the Wisconsin accent totally wrong although that's obviously not a big deal just wanted to point it out.

Winter Storm Warnings When It Aired
richard.fuller121 December 2013
Warning: Spoilers
Like Al Gore warning about global warning amid large snowbanks, this episode was amusing for its idea that, due to global warming, Springfield would be the only city with snow due to an accident at the nuclear plant, tourists would flock to Springfield.

As it turned out, there was a massive coldfront moving across the country at the time, so many of us were NOT doing without snow and or cold weather.

Everyone was freezing and huddled inside by the heater watching this episode.

The show is then mired down with Marge's constant disagreements with Homer for not liking her idea of a bed and breakfast, followed by Marge not liking the guests disapproving of her offerings of a bed and breakfast.

Marge just has social issues is all I can conclude.

Bart does get a good one off on Lisa after she gives him a copy of Treasure Island and he doesn't even read it, he burns it in the fire.

He asks Lisa did she give him the book for him or to make herself feel good. Good one, Bart!

A Meh Special
e_daneva24 December 2023
White Christmas Blues is a kinda bad. I have watched 17 other Simpsons Christmas episodes, and there was 3 bad, 3 okay, 3 good, and 9 really good. This episode falls in the bad category. This has some funny jokes, but it was just really boring. The episode just dragged on for me a lot. I gotta say, this is one of my least favorite Simpsons Christmas episodes. If you read the plot it sounds like it's going to be good, but it really isn't. This just isn't a good Simpsons Christmas episode. I thought this was going to be a good Simpsons Christmas episode, but it wasn't a good episode. In all, I give this a 5.9 out of 10.

Not the Simpsons Finest Christmas Special, but Still Sweet and Funny,
lesleyharris3024 May 2014
White Christmas Blues is a great Simpsons episode with a very well written storyline and a ton of very funny scenes. This episode is certainly not the best Simpsons Christmas episode that have been made, but I like all the Christmas specials and this one is no exception. It manages to be a sweet Christmas themed episode while still managing to be really funny and not getting too carried away with itself in emotion. It was a lot of fun seeing all these strangers join the Simpson home for the holidays and certainly brought the funniest scenes of the episode.White Christmas Blues is a very enjoyable Simpsons episode.

Marge turns the house into a Bed and Breakfast to make some extra money for Christmas, while Lisa sets to work buying cheap but thoughtful presents.

Interesting idea that goes nowhere...

No laughs to be had anywhere...

Where did all the decent writers go? A B&B had so many different potential guests - so much opportunity lost.

Could have been a contender
safenoe17 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
White Christmas Blues could have been a contender but it seemed to really jump all over the place, and one wonders what happened to the showrunner to keep things on track. We can't blame the pandemic for lack of direction.

Anyway, here Marge gets in the bed and breakfast business and it's kind of mixed, but thankfully all's well that ends well with the guests breaking into a Christmas carol.

But still, the overall direction and plotlines just wasn't there, and maybe I'm being biased as I hold firm to the golden era being the gold standard. Still, some later episodes were fine such as Podcast News.

White Christmas Blues

There's only so many Christmas themed episode plots you can come up with that are good. Just ask 'The Simpsons' who have had to come up with more than most.

I agree with fellow reviewers on this site when they say that this episode starts well, it has all the potential in the world, but the plot only stretches so far, and it runs out of steam quite quickly in the middle, and never really recovers.

It's a great shame, because as I said, this idea did have a lot of potential.

The twenty-fifth series of the beloved long-running comedy hasn't really hit top gear for me as yet I'm afraid.

This was fine but mediocre.
