Maybe I Should Be Ras Al Ghul
ThomasDrufke18 March 2015
After another hiatus Arrow returned with one of the better episodes of the second half of the season. Ras has offered, well borderline demanded, that Oliver take his place as the next Ras Al Ghul. If he refuses it's pretty much guaranteed that Star City will be under fire from the league just as Gotham was in Batman Begins.

There was a lot to love in tonight's episode. I love when Arrow gets sentimental, and tonight was definitely one of the more emotional episodes this year. Oliver was struggling to come to grips with why he does what he does as the Arrow. Felicity and Diggle gave him the usual pick me ups and he seemed to realize why he's Arrow, even if Captain Lance doesn't approve of him, again. I would hate to see Lance go down that road again. He was such an unlikable character in season 1 but I cant argue with what he told Oliver. He should have known about Sara's death, then again I think that's more of Laurels fault and not Olivers. Although it seems like we are headed down the path of Star City despising Arrow once again. Especially now that Ras is impersonating Arrow and ruining his reputation.

Ray Palmer briefly appeared this week. He shared an awkward handshake with Oliver. I was disappointed to see they gave away in the preview Ray finding out about Oliver. I still cant really take Palmer seriously knowing the Atom flies instead of shrinks. Speaking of next week and the rest of the season, it's been strongly rumored that Lyla may be killed by Ras. And in turn, Diggle and Oliver will have a falling out. I would hope it's not true but it's definitely something I can see the Arrow crew.

Though Oliver didn't necessarily agree to be Ras' heir, it was cool to see Nyssa take a different route. I'm completely on board with her training Laurel. It makes her storyline that much more interesting. And you really feel for Nyssa. She had thought since she was a young girl that she would be the next leader of the league. So to see her rift with her father come to fruition was sad. Perhaps Nyssa can join the spin off as well? Malcom also showed a different side this week. As bad of a person as he is I think he does have some sort of love for Thea. Watching his facial expressions while Thea unfolded in front of Oliver was pretty telling.

The villain this week, Murmur, was by the numbers and didn't show any legit intentions but he did help further Oliver's character arc this week. It's worth noting we FINALLY saw the Lazarus Pit on screen. I was definitely disappointed that Thea and Roy are now a 'thing' again. Still looking forward to next week's episode on my birthday.

+Nyssa & Laurel team up

+Team Arrow moments

+The pit

+Sentimental episode

+Malcom

-Murmur out of place

A solid set up to what would really happen in the next episode
After watching the first two seasons of Arrow online, I decided to catch the premiere of this episode yesterday, making the first episode of Arrow I've seen on television. When I did, it turned out to be really good. Sure, some of the writing could have used a lot more work, but that's my only nitpick.

Everything else is done really well. The acting is solid and the characters so far are still believable as in the previous two seasons. The story is very emotional and it raises the stakes for Oliver to make his choice to either become Ra's Al Ghul or not. The pacing is fine for the most part and there are some good moments particularly with Team Arrow, the conversation of Thea and Malcolm Merlyn, the conversation of Ra's and Oliver as he explains why he needs a replacement to make the pool of water's healing effects work, and the chemistry between Oliver and Felicity. It also delivers on it's action and the music is top-notch!

Overall, The Offer is nearly a perfect episode, but everything else makes up for and it sets up nicely to what would happen in the next episode! Recommended!

A Great Start to Regain its Footing

Warning: Spoilers
Up until now, Arrow had begun to depart further and further away from what made the show so great in the beginning. The characters were becoming somewhat annoying with the constant complications in the relationships and secrets being kept. Also, the plot felt as though they were improvising as the episode went, meaning that there was no central figure to fight against and Team Arrow was just going out to fight any bad person in the streets. This episode is a huge step in the right direction.

This episode finally shows that Ra's Al Ghul (Brilliantly played by Matt Nable) will become a key opponent to Arrow after having his offer declined. This sparks much interest to see how Oliver and the rest of the team will respond and how the rest of the season will play out. As for the characters, all of them are regaining the charisma they had from earlier. Oliver has stopped complaining about his duties and accepted why he has done them. Felicity has finally repossessed the chemistry between Oliver once again that I thoroughly enjoyed. Lastly, as much as Laurel had been bothering me up until now, I saw her as becoming a stronger, more independent character in this episode.

Overall, this episode has reignited my trust in the show and I expect the show to continue moving in the correct direction.

Great Episode
sem_manutd18 March 2015
On this episode it focus a bit more on Oliver and Ra's AL Ghul than the others. There was action towards the end but it was focused on what was to become of the Ra's AL Ghul throne and I liked the idea that they are concentrating more on the future of the characters rather than just a villain that is sustained for a single episode.

I also liked the fact Ray and Felicity weren't the key members of the episode. I mean I was started to get sick of them.

With the way the show is proceeding I think season 3 might be better than season 2. This episode blends the drama amazingly to the action that takes place.

Slight drop in quality from last week

Warning: Spoilers
I'm still really enjoying the current season of Arrow. Ra's Al Ghul had clearly considered Oliver as a potential replacement prior to their duel; the manner in which he despatched him now making perfect sense, as he needed to see if he would 'survive the blade of Ra's Al Ghul'. Having Oliver give 'The Offer' serious consideration also worked well, particularly since Ra's tells him that he can lead the league in any way he sees fit, although that probably wouldn't actually be the case, a point Oliver was no doubt well aware of. I was a little disappointed that no one even mentioned that a certain Dark Knight wouldn't take news that Oliver had become Ra's Al Ghul well, but that's just me, I guess. I have mixed feelings regarding Nyssa's apparently permanent move to Star City; as a fan of Miss Law, I'm delighted to see more of her, but her father's implied prejudice towards her relationship with Sara is a little unsettling and it seems to me that a man who's lived as long as Ra's would have long since accepted that 'it takes all kinds to make a world'. The suggestion that the 'successor' needs to survive severe wounds inflicted by the 'incumbent' actually provides a strong reason why Ra's wouldn't be prepared to consider his daughter as his replacement. Lance's turning against the Arrow is a logical consequence of what he sees as dishonesty on the Arrow's part, but as he knows Laurel now works with 'Team Arrow' it's a matter that he should probably keep within the family; it's not Oliver's call to break such news, particularly if Laurel didn't want him to. Murmur is a suitably creepy new villain, but I've never heard of 'diamond tipped bullets' as a solution to body armour. Action sequences were up to usual standards, but they need a more suitable stunt double for Matt Nagle, the guy in the arrow suit who did the jump is physically smaller than he is! Apart from Ra's prejudice, my only other gripe this week is with the interminable 'bed-hopping' that plagues this show, Felicity's morals appear to be declining by the week! No sooner has she hooked up with Ray, then she's back mooning over Oliver, a menage a trois appears to be developing.

Disaster
marek-kucko19 March 2015
Warning: Spoilers
OMG! are you people blind? What the hell was that? Where is Arrow which has some real plot and dialogues which are about something? Who come up with something like Ra's take Oliver costume and shooting people at Starling? The fight between Nyssa and Laurel? It was terrible idea and terrible acting! How someone who can fight like 4 months can beat somebody who is daughter of Ra's al Ghul and member of League? You should rethink where this show heading because if it continues a lot of people will be mad/sad/disappointed etc. You are destroying everything from Felicity to Oliver who looks like crying baby and making stupid decisions, everybody act like they were hit to the head with something really big and became stupid as wooden horse. This show was great but storyline with Oliver(BruceWayne) are turning on you. IT IS A REAL MESS since Oliver decide to fight with Ra's and Atom idea came up.

I have Netflix and stopped watching after this episode.

Oliver Queen's character is the last episode as well as this one makes no sense in the range of normal or even abnormal human emotions and motivations. Wanting to rescue an obviously evil prime mover makes no sense and renders the The Arrow unwatchable for most viewers who formerly liked the show. The idealism in the face of adversity is gone. It flips any conception of right and wrong, and responsibility on its head. Too bad. It was a nice show.

What a "hero" does...

Warning: Spoilers
Hmmm...in this episode, The Arrow prevents justice to a mass murder who killed his father. But he takes a critical shot on a revenge seeking man who was tortured by the police into a false confession????

This show is getting worse as it continues.
