Richard Gere is back onscreen with his own mini renaissance.
The legendary actor leads the English language remake of Savi Gabizon’s 2017 Israeli drama “Longing” alongside Diane Kruger. The Lionsgate/Grindstone film “follows Daniel Bloch (Gere) who is shocked to discover a secret from his past and is immediately consumed by the extraordinary twists of a new life he never could have imagined. Daniel continues to dive into the mystery of his own identity until he arrives at a crossroad in his own life,” per the official synopsis.
Writer/director Gabizon returns to helm the remake, which co-stars Suzanne Clément. The original “Longing” premiered at the Venice Film Festival, where writer/director Gabizon won the Bnl People’s Choice Award. The film went on to screen at TIFF.
Gabizon made his feature debut “Shuroo” in 1991, followed by “Lovesick on Nana Street” in 1995. Both features won Israeli Academy Ophir Awards. Gabizon...

Despite the popular misconception, Prime Video’s Fallout TV show followed not three but four main characters — but while the three most prominent of them shared their goals and crossed their paths on a regular basis, the last one was left alone. He’s often not even considered a main character at all, but his story proved to be the most intriguing and nerve-wracking in Season 1.
Norman’s Often Regarded as a Side Character
Norman MacLean, Lucy’s little brother, stayed in Vault 33 when his sister ventured out into the Wasteland to find their father. With that, his story as a minor character seemed pretty much concluded — except it wasn’t as he was not a minor character. Throughout Season 1, Norm had his own story and a hefty amount of screen time.
Surprisingly, many Fallout TV show fans often claim that there are three main characters in the series, overlooking Norm entirely.

Giovonnie Samuels, a child actor hired for three seasons of Nickelodeon’s All That in the early 2000s, dreamed of becoming a TV star. The 2024 Producers Guild of America Awards took awards season one step closer to the Oscars.
The annual PGA Awards happened February 25, immediately following the 2024 Film Independent Spirit Awards. The awards-heavy weekend festivities also included the 2024 SAG Awards on February 24.
The nominees mirror the Academy Awards’ frontrunners list, with winner “Oppenheimer,” plus “American Fiction,” “Anatomy of a Fall,” “Barbie,” “The Holdovers,” “Killers of the Flower Moon,” “Maestro,” “Past Lives,” “Poor Things,” and “The Zone of Interest” among the contenders.
Formally known as the Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures, the Theatrical Motion Picture category for the PGA Awards has historically been an indicator of Best Picture winners, with 15 of the previous 20 winners going on to win the top title at the Academy Awards.
“Killers of the Flower Moon” director and “Maestro” producer Martin Scorsese was honored with the David O. Selznick Achievement Award for his producing work over the last half-century.

“Oppenheimer” continued to steamroll its path to Oscar glory on Sunday night, claiming the top prize at the 2024 Producers Guild of America Awards.
Christopher Nolan, Emma Thomas, Chuck Roven and their producing team took home the Darryl F. Zanuck Award, which recognizes excellence in producing for a theatrical feature film. The prize has become perhaps the most important precursor to nabbing the Academy Award for best picture.
Thomas told the crowd that many may not know that Nolan, the film’s writer and director, excelled most in his role as producer: “He’s absolutely brilliant, we’ve worked on 12 films now.”
Nolan himself noted that he and Thomas had never won the Zanuck award, despite previous nominations. “Every time we’ve been in this room, we’ve felt so much support,” he said.

A talented ensemble cast has come together for espionage comedy thriller Role Play. And now we have a trailer.
While we’re looking forward to a shiny 4K release of James Cameron’s True Lies as you can bet that it’ll look the business, it’s fair to say that a contemporary viewing of the film won’t age as well in every degree.
Still, as a product of its time, it will be a hugely enjoyable watch… but if you’re looking for a more contemporary take on the ‘secret assassin comedy thriller’ genre, look no further than Role Play.
Bill Nighy and Connie Neilsen have major supporting roles while David Oyelowo and Kelly Cuoco star.
Selma star Oyelowo, and Kaley Cuoco – best known for her work in TV’s The Big Bang Theory – could make for quite the pairing as the film centres around a married couple...

Lana Del Rey delivered her first headlining performance since 2019 at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil’s Mita Festival on Saturday, May 27th, and the set showcased new songs from March’s Did you know that there’s a tunnel under Ocean Blvd as well as a handful of live debuts and retooled tracks spanning her entire catalogue.
The melancholic muse began with an on-screen message wishing “God bless you, Brazil” in Portuguese before launching into “A&w” from her latest LP. Initially adorned in a black gown and blonde wig, Del Rey changed on-stage to her natural brunette and a floral dress without missing a beat during the third song, Norman Fucking Rockwell!’s “Bartender.” Her Did you know debuts included “The Grants,” “Candy Necklace,” and the title track, while she also gave an inaugural performance for “Flipside” from 2014’s Ultraviolence.
Later, the Grammy-nominated singer watched a montage of her old music...

Lana Del Rey is back. After her 2021 release “Blue Banisters,” finally we have more new music from the singer-songwriter. Her ninth album, titled “Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd,” was released on March 24 and has so far been very well received. The album is acclaimed, as per usual with Del Rey, and it has actually garnered a lot of public attention, with the single “A&W” going viral online. But while most of Del Rey’s albums have been admired by critics and fans alike, her Grammy track record is a bit spotty and she has yet to win. Will that change in 2024?

Lana Del Rey hasn’t had a solo hit single since 2014, and she’s shown far more interest in pursuing her own singular aesthetic vision than in chasing the charts. “It’s not meant to be popular,” she said, flatly, in her first Rolling Stone cover story, right after the release of 2014’s noir-rock classic Ultraviolence. “It’s not pop music.”
Despite all of the evidence that she is, in fact, a brilliant, alt-leaning singer-songwriter, the world keeps categorizing Del Rey as a pop star — perhaps in part because she is,...

Just because Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride) won’t be in the as-yet-untitled Daryl (Norman Reedus) spinoff, it doesn’t mean heartbroken Carol fans will never see her again. The Twd Universe is far from done, and there are plenty of places she might show up again. Here are a few of them. Fear the Walking Dead For a show that was initially pitched as not crossing over with The Walking Dead, Fear the Walking Dead has crossed over quite a bit. Why not do a time jump and throw one more Twd original into the mix? Carol and Morgan (Lennie James) had an intriguing dynamic on the main show that never got the conclusion it deserved, and it could be compelling to see Carol interact with other Fear fan faves like Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey) and Victor Strand (Colman Domingo). Plus, we’d be eager to see how she’d get...

Over the years, we’ve seen a very odd trend at the Grammys: albums missing their respective genre categories, yet still getting into Album of the Year. This seemed to be a case mostly for critically acclaimed albums that might not have been the biggest sellers — see Lana Del Rey’s “Norman F*cking Rockwell,” Haim’s “Women In Music Pt. III,” Janelle Monáe’s “Dirty Computer,” and Lorde’s “Melodrama.” Still, this trend wasn’t only reserved to critical darlings, as Post Malone’s “Hollywood’s Bleeding,” Jacob Collier’s “Djesse Vol. 3,” Sara Barellies’s “The Blessed Unrest,” and H.E.R.‘s “I Used to Know Her” all followed the trend. But those anomalies occurred when nomination review committees could pick and choose the final contenders from among the top 20 vote-getters regardless of how the genre categories shook out. Now without the committees, the question is whether all...

From the creators of His Hands, Darius Shu and Arron Blake, comes another short film masterpiece. I Am Norman. Once you’ve had a hit film, there is always pressure to make your next one just as successful, and after the success of His Hands the pressure was certainly on for this film to be just as good, if not better.
There was a lot of speculation as to what the film would be about, and Blake and Shu even held a competition via Instagram for people to try and guess. There was nothing to go by except the tagline “some would say what I do is sick”. Some suggested that Norman likes to hunt people in the woods for fun, another stated he was a cannibal whilst others mentioned that he might be a werewolf. It’s interesting to hear these ideas but I must admit,...

Lana Del Rey has joined singer-songwriter Matt Maeson on a new version of his 2019 single, “Hallucinogenics.”

‘Point of No Return.’
Vincent Monton is understandably chuffed that Australians have the chance to discover – or rediscover – his telemovie Point of No Return 25 years after it premiered on Network 10.
Umbrella Entertainment released a digitally restored version of the drama written and directed by Monton, which starred Marcus Graham and Nikki Coghill, on DVD and VOD this month.
Graham played the dual roles of Grady, a former soldier who is traumatized by his experiences in war and prison, and his murdered brother Kristian.
Grady escapes from custody after attending Kristian’s funeral. Coghill is Kate, the girlfriend of the protagonist who later hooked up with his brother.
The producer, the late Phillip Emanuel, had raised the budget to make a telemovie about a prison break but was not happy with the script so he approached Monton. The offer was to write a screenplay in three weeks, which he could...

Chadwick Boseman, who died of colon cancer on Friday at age 43, made a striking impression in both TV and on the big screen in his too-short time in the spotlight.
Nathaniel Ray, “Lincoln Heights” (2008-09)
Chadwick Boseman had popped in small TV roles in the early 2000s but he had his first major breakthrough role in this ABC Family drama as a member of the U.S. Army who belatedly learns he’s the son of the series lead (Russell Hornsby).
Graham McNair, “Persons Unknown” (2010)
He followed “Lincoln Heights” with a role on a short-lived NBC drama about a group of strangers who find themselves plunked into a ghost town.
Jackie Robinson, “42” (2013)
Chadwick Boseman landed his first lead role on the big screen in Brian Helgeland’s biopic of Jackie Robinson, the first Black player to break into Major League Baseball. He starred opposite Harrison Ford, who played the Brooklyn Dodgers’ general manager.

The PGA nominations are in, and the most reliable Oscars prognosticator loves Joker, Knives Out, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, and more.
Awards season is a long and illustrious process. Sunday saw the highly visible Golden Globes telecast crown 1917 and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood as the Best Pictures of the year, and next Sunday will see the Critics Choice Awards have their vote. Yet if you’re simply waiting for the Academy Awards, and all the Oscars that come with it, then probably the most reliable prognosticator remains the Producers Guild of America—and they just announced their nominations for the equivalent of Best Picture.
Hence in what might be the best evidence yet of blockbuster hits like Joker, Knives Out, and Ford v Ferrari competing against the generally expected Oscar frontrunners, all three were nominated for the Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Outstanding...

The Producers Guild of America has revealed its nominees in the motion picture and television categories for its 31st Annual Producers Guild Awards; nominees include recent Golden Globe winners “1917,” “Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood,” “Missing Link,” “Succession,” “Fleabag” and “Chernobyl.”
The PGA, which has about 8,200 members, has matched the Oscar for best picture in 21 of its 30 years, including “The Green Book” last year and “The Shape of Water” in 2018.
The PGA uses a preferential balloting system that’s similar to that employed by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. The PGA and AMPAS both expanded their voting for the top film to 10 nominees in 2009. About three-quarters of the PGA’s Zanuck nominees wind up as Oscar best picture nominees.
On the TV side, among all of the drama and comedy nominees, only “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” (last year’s comedy winner) is a repeat from last year.
