A wonderful guest cast assemble for a very good mystery.

This was a very good episode, with a very clever twist, and some particularly interesting concepts.

Once again, the show gets away with eliminating a very well known star very quickly, but said person proves their worth as the episode concludes. Such a great cast, including Gary Lewis, Sylvestra le Touzel and Michelle Collins.

Kris Marshall, is a little bit idiotic in this one, at times he was made a bit too much of a clown, we already had Dwayne's antics. The guest cast take it so seriously, whereas the regulars perhaps clown around a little too much.

A goof mystery, and a superb guest cast. 7/10

Good if not great.

Warning: Spoilers
The fourth season of "Death in Paradise" has been unimpressive to say the least. Only "Stab in the Dark" and "Till Death Do You Part" have been solid. After "Swimming in Murder" was awful, I have waited for a great "Death in Paradise" episode. Even though "She Was Murdered Twice" is not amazing, it's solid enough.

Let's start with good, shall we?

. The production values are great as usual. Finally we have a director, who understands what "Death in Paradise" needs- and that is energy. The cast does a very good job too. Michelle Collins is suitable brutish, Sylvestra Le Touzel was good and it was nice to see Matthew Lewis outside Harry Potter.

. The murder mystery was engaging as well with couple of neat twists and turns. The solution was kind of satisfying enough and the quirkiness of the humor was a nice treat too.

But...

. This episode gets into conflict with it's tone. The murder mystery has some suitably darker elements to it, but sometimes the silliness of what is going on at the Saint Marie's police station just ruins the dark tone for me. Kris Marshall is not bad in the role, but at times he just overacts and reacts, which makes his character a bit too much to handle to say the least.

. Even though the solution was solid, I felt the twist( Dom did the deed after all) could have been executed in a much subtle, neater way.

Overall, it was solid.

Solid and solvable

Warning: Spoilers
This was a good solid mystery, lots of suspects. I don't know if they really explored opportunity that well, more focused on motive. For me, the mystery seemed almost too easy, I didn't have a hard time guessing who did it. Acting was good as usual location was beautiful. The victim was not very likable, almost satisfying to see her get bumped off.

Spoilers ahead...

This was the old killer confesses, but then finds out. Oh, I didn't really kill her, but he'd really killed her earlier. This has been used more than once in mysteries like this perhaps I've just watched too many I found it easy to guess.

I don't know why the killer confessed at the end. A detective with decades of experience has told me that experience criminals, anybody who's done any real time never confess, unless, of course, maybe it's part of a plea, bargain deal and they're getting a lower sentence. But them this is just fantasy.

Warning: Spoilers
James Fox, scion of the legendary Fox family (which comprises Richard "Travel Man" Ayoade amongst other distinguished members) guest stars as Humphrey's father Martin Goodman QC in She Was Murdered Twice, the penultimate episode of season four. Each season has eight episodes but it's a shame there isn't more episodes per season, like say 10 or 12 episodes. Anyway here there's a murder in a travel firm that's visiting Saint Marie and sure, there a lot of convenient plot twists and turns, but really one should enjoy Death in Paradise for what it is - it's a lot of fun and what more can we ask init.
