Rick Stein has a down to earth polite attitude, and his culinary tours are a joy to watch. Rick sometimes has a stream of consciousness (always thoughtful may I add) that really makes you think about larger issues, such as his comment about the ever growing influx of tourists to Venice in the first episode. This has an impact on the economy, with many euros being spent for lasagna. Rick commented that two of his friends spent 60 euros on lasagna for dinner!
I like Rick's meetings with the restaurant owners, as he explores the background and motivations, and also cooks up a dish himself in his kitchen on location.
