Joanna and Japan are superb

Warning: Spoilers
I love watching Joanna Lumley's Japan and this episode opens with Joanna flying over Tokyo (38 million people) in a helicopter. Joanna mentions the firebombing of Tokyo during WW2, and much to her credit she doesn't undertake any finger-pointing at Japan for this. Currently 1/3 of Japan's population live in Tokyo, and as Joanna commented, some wear face masks to I guess keep out the germs.

Joanna also visits a store devoted to selling plastic food you see in store menu displays. Joanna also visits a progressive kindergarten, and we see an American (or Canadian?) teaching the enthusiastic kids English.

One revelation is the audience of business men and young guys who spend the evening watching a 18 piece girl group singing. It's quite a sight, especially as each fan waves a glow stick, the color of which matches their favorite singer. One of my favorite scenes is when Joanna is sitting in her hotel room at night, gazing into the street traffic with a ginger ale in her hand.

Joanna also takes us to see the work of a wood block artist (very impressive), and also takes the opportunity to add more stamps in her travel book.

Kyoto is beautiful, with the cherry blossom in full season. She also introduces us to a foreign friendly taxi, which started in Kyoto recently. I think foreign friendly means the taxi drivers speak English. However I'm not sure if they can speak Hindi or German or Dutch or Yiddish.

It's a shame there's only 3 episodes in this series. I wish there were more.
