Accomplished the seemingly impossible
evakritse2 June 2022
With My People, Rezan has accomplished the seemingly impossible: She has brought hope and balance to the recounting of the horror of the Holocaust. The film makes it accessible but also comprehensible.

But this is not a holocaust film.

It is a story about humanity ,love, choices and inspires a global message.

While the narrative is also presenting interviews with people who lived through the Holocaust, My People has a very cinematic approach that makes it real again. Even more impressively, it is taking movies to their highest moral value.

As this film's messages feel more important than ever, demanding its audience to experience important parts of history while realizing that the past is present and the future is now, we all do have choices that can make this world a better place.

A celebration of life
mikeponumous5 June 2022
The film is a celebration of life. Really unexpected from such a young filmmaker. First time director if I read this correctly. This is her first feature?! I am impressed. It's quite unusual to watch so much appreciation for the '' good in people'' and what really matters in life.

An insightful glimpse into the meaning of life but also into the political and social climate during WW2.

Narrated by the filmmaker with a very special "Mid Atlantic" accent. I found out that it was the Hollywood film's accent of that era. A must see, especially for younger people around the world.

Is this already "bothering" people??
greatgreeceisfree14 June 2022
I watched the film in LA and actually it took days for me to process all the information and to digest it emotionally .

This film is a masterpiece

What I would really love to know if this: The person that voted 1 for a) excellent cinematography b) emotional narration c) powerful music d) interesting characters e) fast pacing f) unknown historical facts g) inspiring messages Is that person just another antisemite or is it also a misogynist that can't digest the fact that the filmmaker is not only an gifted story teller but quite possibly the first young lady holocaust director that has also a career as a fashion model ?

A Powerful Journey into the Past
kessner23@aol.com14 June 2022
What a revelation! With My People the filmmaker has chosen to use her personal history as a Greek Jew as a vehicle to explore the Holocaust and it's effects on her own family, as well as those of her fellow countrymen. The documentary does an excellent job of detailing historical facts, weaving together a gripping narrative of the horrors of war with the resilience, resolve, hope and love that carried the survivors through it all to the promised land of freedom and a future lived to the fullest. Bravo!

A gem of a tale
imdb3-548-1154595 August 2022
An enormous research and courage went into this, to undertake the filmmakers personal journey to tell this hidden gem of a story that had to be told. The role of Thessaloniki, the oldest European home of the Sephardic Jews and the Second World War. And there's no better person to tell this story of someone whose family was part of this horrific event. Not only do we go on her family journey, but we learn about the Greek history, the society, and see the impact from a local to global scale.

Filmed in a cinematic and intimate way, not only is this a story of the horrors of the holocaust, but also about heroism, humanism, inspiration and love.

I hope this will be widely available soon, especially for this current climate.

Powerful insightful and moving
katsaristassos27 October 2022
Watched the film at it's New york city premiere and it's really powerful Makes perfect sense that it won the Audience Award . Viewers gave the director a standing ovation .Rezan is possibly one of the greatest directors of her generation .choosing such complex and delicate sybject matters for her filmmaking debut .she did a phenomenonal job in terms of sentiment , vibe and respect it's a real contribution to world cinema. It really promotes the Christian values , the history of the christian clergy and the greatness of christianity . The film honors Greece and the resistance ...but also contributes to the documentary form with a fresh cinematic approach.

a find at the Vail film festival
damianprovokatouras23 December 2022
This documentary is very well made.

Its beautiful and inspiring. There are some very tender moments.

The story is very intense and there is a lot of suspense .I look forward to this becoming available on Netflix and be able to discuss on here with other users Watched it at the Vail festival with my family and its suitable for kids older than twelve years old in my belief. I have a new found respect for Greek people .

Really enjoyed the music, the narration and the accounts.

It was about time a young filmmaker explored such parts of WW2 a right fit for us history buffs.

Thank you for making this.
