Decent
23 February 2024
I guess I'll put my 2 cents in, since reviewing movies and tv shows is what i wanna do. Let me start by saying that avatar the last Airbender is my favorite animated show of all time (and trust me, that's no small thing). And like all if you, u absolutely despised the movie that shall not be named. So going into netflixa adaptation, i was, shall we say , cautiously optimistic. So how do i feel about it? Its........complicated. The bending is awesome, choreographed very well and exciting to watch. The effects are sometimes good, sometimes a little rubbery, but nothing to distracting. The story, while rushed, does a decent job making sure to include the important characters and situations, even if they've been altered slightly, and cutting out a lot of filler (not that i minded the filler) although some things were definitely missed. It doesn't follow the animation to a t, nut i don't think it's trying to. I believe it's trying to be it's own interpretation. Also, the giant water fish battle was awesome. But, there are some negatives. Some of the acting is just bad. The kid playing aang just annoyed me and a lot of the line delivery fell flat. I also got tired of the constant pitty partying. The character development, if you can call it that, also felt kinda generic (which is a shame because ATLA had some ofnthr best character development I've ever seen in anything). I still enjoyed it and felt genuine emotion while watching it, and will be tuning into book 2, but it's far from reaching the hights of it's superior. In the end, to quote Ivan moody(five finger death punch) "it could've been much worse but it should've been better"

Most underrated dreamworks movie
22 December 2022
This movie is criminally underrated. The idea of binging these mythical characters that we all grew up hearing about/believing in together to form an avengers type team and fight against the boogeyman was pure genius. In the wrong hands, this could've very easily been cheesey or dumb, but the execution is flawless. The voice actors all did a great job and helped make these characters badass and interesting. The action was really well done. There are some legit laugh out loud funny moments. The score is amazing and combined with some incredible visuals will give you a sense of childlike wonder and enjoyment. I haven't seen it in a bit, but i love it just as much now as i did when i first saw it. It's not streaming anywhere atm, but if you haven't seen this movies, definitely seek it out. I can't recommend it enough.

Wednesday (2022– )

Creepy cooky, mysterious ooky mediocrity
1 December 2022
So i just finished watching the latest adams family adaptation, Wednesday. Admittedly, i never really got into the old movies or other adaptations (except for the animated series when i was a kid), but being a long time tim burton fan( which hasn't always been easy), this version intrigued me. My thoughts on the series are.......mixed. Some good, some bad, overall complicated. Jenna Ortega was definitely the stand out, and she acted circles around the rest of the cast. Burtons signature gothic style is all over the screen, and having him work again with danny elfman was definitely a welcome addition for any burton fan. This is easily the best product hes put out in years, which unfortunately isn't saying much since his last few projects have been, just, bad. The story, while being filled with cliches, was certainly enjoyable and kept my interest even through some of the things I didn't like, enough to make me wanna see what was gonna happen next and how it was all gonne end. I'd even say some of the comedy was well done and had some very smartly written joke. However, the show definitely has some flaws. Some of the characters were just straight up annoying, and their performances definitely didn't help. I know the whole adams family thing is "quirky", but some characters were definitely trying to hard. Also, like i said earlier, there were so many clichés and cringy lines that it made it a little hard to get through at times. Some of the cgi was just bad, like 90s cereal commercial bad. Also, i found the climax to be a little, well, anticlimactic. Though there was one twist i genuinely didn't see coming, the rest of it was pretty predictable. Overall i cant say this is a bad show, and i would be interested in a season 2, but it's not particularly great either. So, I'd give it an ok.

Banshee (2013–2016)

Absolutely fell in love with Banshee
1 April 2022
I watch a lot of shows, and i mean a LOT. Some would even say to many. So when i say that banshee is hands down one of the best shows I've ever seen, it really means something. This show is truly something special. The characters are great, the chemistry is real and genuine, the acting is straight up phenomenal, and the writing is very real and authentic. The action in this show is next level, the fighting is expertly choreographed, the shootout scenes are exciting, and almost every character gets their very own badass moment to shine. The story is ever engaging, with plenty of twists and turns to keep you on your toes and just plenty of great satisfying moments. I just finished the last episode and i already wanna watch it again, but i definitely need to take some time to let it all sink in because, damn, it was a hell of a ride. I may be late to the party on this one, but i am so glad I watched banshee.

Bel-Air (2022– )

Surprisingly great
4 March 2022
Well, this is definitely the biggest surprise of the year so far. I remember hearing about this being rebooted and, like most everyone else, my initial thought was, "Why? This is pointless. There's literally no reason for this to be made. " I loved the original and to this day think it's still one the best sitcoms/African American shows/90s shows ever made. So, ya, initially had no desire to see it remade. But, after watching a YouTube video about it and realizing that will smith himself is one of the producers and gave this show his blessing, i decided to give it a fair shot and go into it with an open mind. And i gotta say, I am very much liking it so far. This show basically tells kind of the same story as the original but does it in a much more serious, somewhat darker way. There are some good Easter eggs and references to the original that fans will be able to appreciate, but unlike something like fuller house, it doesn't completely rely on that nostalgia. Its very familiar while also managing to be its own thing. Some minor character changes have been made, but they're not necessarily bad ones. Geoffrey is no longer the butler, he's now manager of the house and acts more as uncle Phil's best friend and muscle. Though i do miss his one-liners, this is an awesome change. Hilary is no longer just a spoiled bimbo, she's now an influencer who is trying to make her own way in the world. I do miss will and Carltons relationship/brotherhood from the original show, but it's still season 1 so maybe we'll get there. All in all, this show certainly isn't a replacement for the original, but its really freaking good and is definitely worth your time. While the original bel-air may be king, this is definitely the prince.

Z for zorro!!
8 April 2020
Arguably one of the last truly great summer blockbusters/ action movies of all time. Amazing action, true depth and character development, electric chemistry between all characters, explosions and sword fights galore, incredible comic book style/passing of the torch/revenge story, gorgeous women, romance and passion that feels very authentic and exciting. Just an all around amazing movie

Underrated
20 March 2020
Seriously underrated movie. Great cast (including Jeffery dean Morgan,Idris Elba, chris Evans, and zoe Saldana among others) who all work really well together and have great chemistry, lots of funny one liners and sarcastic, snappy dialogue, cool comic book story, and some awesome action, not to mention one of the best uses of "don't stop believing" ever. Some of the editing comes across as a little try hard, but overall solid enjoyable movie. The main reason I think it didnt get a lot of attention when it came out is because it was released in the same year as expendables and the A-team,which is a shame cuz it deserved to be more recognized

"Enjoy the ride"
17 January 2020
One of the movies I really liked but everyone else seems to hate. Is it perfect? No. Does it all make sense? Not really. It it longer then in needs to be? Most definitely.Still, the action is great (especially that awesome climax), the comedy still makes me laugh and the jokes usually land pretty well. Iove the villian and just how dastardly he is, I love the heroes and how mismatched they are yet how perfectly they work together. And when it comes down toward the final battle and that lone ranger theme kicks in and the action starts and we get all the cheesy one liners, bullets start flying, things exploding, I still get goosebumps. Not a great movie by any means, but I think you can enjoy it if you follow the same advice read gave buch and simply "enjoy the ride".

Tall Tale (1995)
8/10
Still one of my favorites
14 November 2019
When I was a kid my mom found this movie for cheap on VHS and decided to buy it for me and my brothers. While I'm not sure how much they liked it, I instantly got caught up in the wonder and excitement of seeing these larger then life legends of old battling it out in a fun action adventure, all to help and protect a kid who needed them. As a grown man, it still manages to put a smile on my face everytime I see it. The whole cast is good, but for me the 2 that stand out the most are Oliver Platt as paul bunyan, with his quick comedic timing and hilarious lines and insults, and of course the late great Patrick Swayze as pecos bill, being the full embodiment of a hero of the west, and having the time of his life playing this character. While this movie is mostly unknown and will never win any awards or anything, it will always hold a special place in my heart and make my spirit sore. Tall tales are made to be enjoyed and spark the imagination, and that's exactly what this movie does

Did not expect this from a kid's cartoon(spoilers)
13 August 2018
Warning: Spoilers
The final scene in this episode, when it's revealed what happened to the mother and scrooge's part in it, hit me like i never expected. I was left speechless and dumbfounded. Hearing the harsh words from the nephewa, scrooge defending himself, seeing how far he really went to find her, all of it was heart breaking and great. Can't wait for the final episode.

OK, that was INTENSE
12 January 2015
This movie was straight up incredible. The acting from miles teller and j.k. Simmons was outstanding, they gave 2 of the greatest performances in the whole of 2014. the story, while being a little cut and dry, is still pretty great and is a good backdrop for the fantastic performances given in this movie. And of course, I have to talk about the tension in this movie. I've seen action movies, thrillers, horror movies, some intense stuff go down, and NOTHING i have seen compare to the tension that is built in this movie. The pressure put on this kid who has the potential to be truly great, that is put on him by this sadistic yet brilliant teacher, creates this level of tension that is ever rising and it just builds and builds until your literally on the edge of your seat saying to yourself I hope its gonna all work out. When you watch this movie, turn off your laptop, phone, and all other distractions because your gonna wanna get into this one. Fantastic movie

The Librarians (2014–2018)

What can i say i like it
8 December 2014
I just watched this show and I can honestly say I very much enjoyed it. I was excited for this ever since i heard it was being made, and this show did not disappoint. first off, I love the movies, so of course I knew this show would either continue the story in a great way or totally ruin the idea of the librarian, and I'm happy to say it was the first one. The characters ere great, each one well acted. It was interesting to see Christan Kane play the role of an art genius and not have him be the muscle, but he pulled it off very well. Of course i was happy to see the original librarian come in and pass the torch on to the new ones, and i know well see more of him on this show. The acting was good, the plot was strong, the action well done, the chemistry between the characters was spot on, all in all I had just as much fun with this as I did with the movies. I'm excited to see what happens as the season continues. Any fan of the librarian movies should definitely give this a watch

Rock of Ages (2012)

Rock on
15 October 2014
This movie is a hell of a lot better then i thought it would be. I've never been a big fan of musicals, but a friend of mine who loves classic rock told me i should give this one a shot, and i was very impressed. The lead girl is a wonderful actress and the kind of girl i want for myself. A cute blonde who loves rock and roll? Yes please. All the actors did a good job in this movie, especially tom cruise, Alec Baldwin, and the lead young actors. The story is great at illustrating the fact that no matter what new music styles come out, no matter what the bible thumpers say, rock lives on. And of course the music was kick ass, every song was awesome and illustrated the story wonderfully. I've never wanted to live in a movie before, but I'd give anything to be a part of this universe where dreams can come true and people randomly burst out rock songs. All in all, rock of ages is one hell of a ride!!!!

Smallville (2001–2017)

Best show ever made!!!!
30 September 2014
Minor spoilers

I absolutely love this show, i have gone through all 10 seasons at least three times, and i probably will three or four more in my lifetime because i NEVER get tired of watching it. The actors are amazing, each delivering a powerhouse performance episode after episode, they have incredible chemistry, and they all grow and mature and come into there own as great actors as the show goes on and we grow with them. When i think of the characters in superman and the justice league, these actors are what i picture. The story is original and compelling with plenty of plot twists, conspiracies, character alterations, and original episode ideas to keep you on edge and make you not wanna wait for the net episode. The action is great, it's hard to make superman look bad ass because let's face it he's so freaking powerful that he easily triumphs any normal criminal, however this show had plenty of powerful adversaries and horrible situations for him to overcome. The side characters, especially oliver queen/green arrow and Chloe Sullivan, are wonderful and really add a whole new element to the show. You see Chloe grow from a high school girl with a crush and a taste for the weird into a powerful ally to Clark and the other superheroes in this show, and green arrow is just awesome, Justin Hartley is the perfect lie action depiction of the emerald archer (even outshining the main character from arrow). The drama, wish is probably the most controversial part of this show, is outstanding as well, with plenty of heart wrenching tear jerking moments (including the only moment in TV history to ever bring a tear to my eye) as well as many fulfilling moments that will bring a smile to your face and make you yell finally. Overall though, the most amazing thing about this show is the evolution of Clark Kent and lex Luther, who are the two best characters in the show. You see Clark grow from the well mannered farm boy discovering his powers into a powerful man inspiring so many people to be the best they can be and set true heroes down the right path, and tom welling pulls it off flawlessly, especially in the last season. You really believe this is the man who becomes superman. You also see lex grow from the spoiled rich kid who wants desperately to step out from his fathers bad name and do some good in the new town he calls home to becoming darker and darker and more evil as the show goes on. I'll admit this transformation was the hardest for me to see, i loved lex in the first few seasons when he was Clark's best friend, it saddened me to see him turn into the villain. We also see that friendship turn into a rivalry and eventually it becomes the hero villain struggle wed all expect. You also get insight into why they each turned out the way they did.

The humor, the action, the drama, everything about this show is just amazing

Great series!!!! Smallville with a midevil twist
16 April 2012
Being a fan of the king Arthur story since i was little, i was a bit cautious to watch this series. But i started watching it on you tube and am already on season 4. I can't get enough of merlin!!!! The show has great acting, a good story, good action, just the right touch of intelligent comedy, and of course epic magic. The show reminds me a lot of my favorite show, smallville. You have the hero who will one day be a great legend who has powers and abilities he uses to save the lives of those around him, yet only a select few know of his power. You have the strong supporting characters who are all cricled around the hero and some who go on to be the famed knights of the round table, and lets not forget the future great king, who are all who they are because merlin inspired them, much like Clark does the justice league in smallville, and then you have the close friend who becomes evil and betrays the small band of heroes. All in all, great great show that everyone should watch

Best Christian movie ever made
22 February 2012
I absolutely loved this movie. A friend of mine told me constantly to watch it, and at first i was hesitant to because i've seen Christian movies before and they all tend to have crappy acting, thin storyline, cliché lines, and just be overall cheesy. But after like the 20th time of her telling me i said OK and i watched. Afterwards i immediately thanked her because this movie is incredible. It's not about religion, it's not about coming to Christ, it's not about changing your life or anything like that, but it's about what a Christians true mission in life should be, which is saving lives and impacting the world around you. Jake didn't just become some Christian and then sit at home reading his bible and then go sit at church every Sunday, he acted to make a difference on the lives of the people around him. he did everything he could to let the hurt kids know that he saw them, they weren't alone, and someone would miss them if they took there life. The acting, the drama, the humor, the message, all excellent in this movie.

The best fight movie ever made!!
15 August 2011
I've watched a lot of fight movies, from rocky and the karate kid, to blood and bone and fighting, but they all tend to have one thing in common. they are all cliché. Good guy gets beaten down by bad guys, good guy learns to fight, good guy gets revenge. The thing I love about this movie is that Jake Tyler started out being fueled by revenge, but in the end, it was all about protecting the ones he loved. He didn't fight to prove he was the best, he didn't fight to get revenge, he fought to keep his friends and family from getting hurt. The fighting in the movie was extremely bad ass, the acting was superb, the storyline was original and very good, the music fit the movie very well. This movie is a must see for any and all fight movie fans.

terrible
6 October 2010
I went to the theaters with high expectations after reading the book, which I loved. but after seeing it, i have one word Disgrace: First off, if you have read the book, do not put yourself through the slow agonizing torture of seeing this movie.(If you haven't read the book, read it and don't even bother with the movie). I mean, i can understand cutting out a few things here and there, but the director pretty much changed the whole story line. He took out some major parts in the book, like the oracle, the prophecy, Ares, four awesome battles, the titan lord,Thalia's tree, Annabeth's cap of invisibility, and Clarisse. He also added in some things that didn't appear in the first book. He changed the reason for the bolt being stolen. He changed Luke's position. Basically, this movie made me want to puke. I honestly believe Hollywood needs a reboot, because if done right, The Lightning Thief would make an awesome movie

Overall, I do not suggest anyone bother watching this crappy movie.
